Climbing impossibly difficult mountains is a physical metaphor for our personality’s quest to re-capture the original spiritual heights of our soul‘s vibration when it first emerged from Source. It’s why my China Dream Trips focus on Taoist Sacred Mountains – the traditional refuge of Taoists seeking the heights of spiritual immortality.
But the keys to our Highest Worldly Destiny (ming) lies right inside us. Our highest Worldly Destiny will mirror the accomplishment of our inner Spiritual Destiny (xing). OUR HUMAN JOB IS TO LINK THE TWO DESTINIES, WORLDLY AND SPIRITUAL.This is called the Marriage of Heaven and Earth within a Human. Immortality is the resurrection of our Body and Soul in the HERE (space) and NOW (time).

FEEL FREE TO HIT REPLY and RESPOND. I love hearing from you!
Dear Lovers of Achieving Highest Destiny,
I’ve counseled thousands of students during my decades as a spiritual teacher. The Number One Question, and main cause of confusion? It’s this: “What is the purpose or meaning of my life?”. Easy question to ask, hard to answer. Nothing else comes even close to causing the deep anguish and confusion that this question creates.
You can have huge money and great sexual love, but if this question bugs you, and Death is pointing it nagging finger at you – nothing worldly satisfies. The value or meaning to a lifetime obviously must come from within. I can only offer tools to assist that process of unfolding a life’s meaning, not give answers.
The question is being asked by the Personality, aka the “body-mind”, the “ego”, or the “lesser self”. Some paths suggest you stop asking the question by getting rid of the local self, pretend it doesn’t exist. Other paths try to jump you somewhere else, to a Higher Self. I find serious limitations in both approaches. If you are asking the question, it is indicative that the Personality is feeling separated from the Soul. The Souil is the invisible entity that creates the personality and body and holds the keys to its highest Destiny, both worldly and spiritual. Asking the question gets us on a Path.
It’s not that the invisible Soul “knows” the answer to the question – strangely, it does NOT know it. But at least the Soul knows that the answer – the meaning to THIS life – has to be co-created by the Personality together with the Soul. People who believe their Higher Self is going to solve all their problems are, in my humble opinion, delusional and basically ungrounded. No change will happen in our worldly life unless the Personalitiy ALIGNS with the wisdom and higher vibration of the Soul, and allows it to download, fully aware, into this body and into this physical world. The personality and body will always be present as the interface between Soul and World.
There are other levels beyond Soul, but that’s beyond the scope of this essay. Talk about the Oversoul and the Source are just hot air if you cannot even cross the first bridge between Personality and Soul.
Achieving our Highest Destiny is a team effort. It requires the cooperation of all 12 of our body-mind’s organ and bowel spirits working together with the soul. In Taoist terminology, this is the “heart-mind” (xin) integrating with the “inner heart” (ling). It’s not that one takes over the other and saves the day.
It’s more that the Personality wakes up and realizes that to get the rejuvenating effects of Qi flowing in from Source, it first requires that the Personality consciously align with and openly invite the Soul to help ease life’s struggle. That will speed the achievement of our Highest Worldly Destiny filled with abundance, love, creativity, travel, children, social change – whatever we dream up.
What exactly is the Soul? It is a very poorly defined religious term in the West. In Taoist inner alchemy, it is more specific – the functional layers of our Energy Body – sexual, emotional, mental, and spiritual. The ancient Taoist mapped it out rather thoroughly, with numerous channels and organ polarities within our energy field.
It’s totallly normal for a human being to come in with an Energy Body that is malformed and under-developed. That is what is lurking beneath the innocent exterior of those cute infants. We arrive confused and imbalanced by design. The imbalances stimulate our creativity. I’ve written about this before – a certain amount of suffering is a good thing, it causes us to seek Joy.
The imbalances and pain in our life motivate us to CHANGE, which is what the Tao is about – the flow of unending, creative change. Whatever creative process we choose to achieve the integration of Personality and Soul will define the meaning of our life.
That’s where method comes into play. If you want to climb to the top of a high mountain, i.e. achieve a High Destiny, it helps to have five things:
1) a map of the terrain ahead.
2) advice from someone who climbed the mountain, who can act as a guide to the most direct (effortless) route they found. How to avoid the pitfalls, how to activate your own “spiritual GPS” system.
3) a good pair of hiking boots, proper clothing to protect against the elemetns, good nourishment (grounding methods and superfoods like Chinese herbs).
4) proper training (breath and movement qigong) to get your body-mind in shape for the rigorous journey – a.k.a. Our Life.
5) Meditation methods that offer “scalable” skills, i.e. that work in different dimensions of life, physical to formless realms. Meditation skills that are more than just escapist ‘stress relief” in the physical plane. That’s why I love internal alchemy – it’s designed to find the balance point between spirit and matter-body, to “eat” the creative tension and stress at every level of consciousness. That is why we have nine alchemy formulas, a map of the multi-dimensional path. (see: http://www.healingtaousa.com/one_clouds_nine_tao_alchemy_formulas.html)
It takes work to get to the top of any mountain. Effortlessness (wu wei) is a skill that Taoists cultivate, but it arises out of skilled effort. Wu Wei is not for the lazy.
I personally am committed to helping everyone climb to the top of whatever mountain in life they choose. I know the Tao has bestowed on each of us special gifts, in China called our “de”, or “spiritual power”. We each have to figure out what those gifts are and how to best use them.
I tried many different paths, and climbed many different mountains, each one higher than the last, over a seemingly endless series of ever steeper hills (sigh!). To read my bio that see: http://www.healingtaousa.com/winn_iswho.html and scroll down to “The Long Story”.
I’ve found that the combination of qigong and Taoist inner alchemy meditation was the fastest and easiest Way to re-wire the pathway between my soul and my body-mind’s 12 vital organ spirits.
Certainly other paths work, I’m just sharing that I found this set of Tao methods to be the easiest and the most powerful and most grounded in the body. That is why I call it “whole body enlightenment”, as opposed to “head enlightenment”. It works on both worldly and spiritual destiny at the same time.
Is It Possible to Get Lost on a Path?
This Tao path is free from dogma and power-controlling teachers or priests. YOU receive the method, you apply it to YOUR life, you unfold YOUR highest destiny, not somebody else’s destiny or some religion’s vision of what will save you. Religions exist largely because most people are too lazy to do their own spiritual work — it’s easier to just plug into some religious program. That is for the masses. But we are each individuals, and at some point the “group shoe” doesn’t fit our destiny.
To learn the map of your body-mind and the deep energetic pathways of your soul requires training. Otherwise, you can waste a lot of time stumbling around in the dark at the base of the mountain. Or just hanging out, telling yourself comforting lies: “there is no mountain, there is nothing to be done, there is no gift from heaven, there is No Self — so why bother?”.
The result? There is no achievement of one’s Highest Destiny. There’s just an “accidental destiny” of the Personality. The soul patiently watches your body slowly age and your life’s gifts squandered – it cannot override the Personality’s Free Will, it’s major gift from the Soul. Oh well, sighs the Soul, the Oversouls can print out new body-minds and try again. No blame. But No Success, either.
So here I am, reminding you of the incredible opportunities you have to learn Tao methods that will assist you in creating your Highest Destiny. That’s the only reason I keep teaching – I want YOU to have that pleasure, and I know it will improve my world if you do cultivate yourself.
This is the Year of the Yang Wood Green Horse, a perfect time to get off our collective lazy ass and ride somewhere new – anywhere will do. If you missed that newsletter, get Horse Year details here: http://www.healingtaousa.com/cgi-bin/articles.pl?rm=mode2&articleid=177

After practicing Primordial Tai Chi for over 15 years, I am ready to share some of my secrets as to how to focus one’s intent before, during, and after the “Wu Ji Gong” Ceremony. It’s Chinese name literally means “Skill at Entering the Unknown”. It is what we bring back from the “unknown” that helps us manifest what we need in the “known”, i.e. our daily lives.
My two volume eBook will be coming out this year – I promise a master piece that takes you deep into this Cosmological Qi Gong form. Vol. 1 is being formatted now, delayed while we arrange ebook download capability on my new site. But as good as I feel this book is, it is not a replacement for live instruction and transmission.
This magical, powerful 800 year old lineage qigong ceremony integrates the grace of Tai Chi, the magic square of feng shui, the dynamic inner coupling of Taoist alchemy, the healing benefits of medical qigong, and the earthly transmission power of China’s original tai chi form!
Learn to gather the directional chi of Heaven and Earth in graceful spirals. This is one of my favorite forms, and only requires 15 min. practice length. If you’ve learned the form from the DVD, this will take you much deeper.
This weekend counts as a CERTIFICATION course in Primordial Tai Chi (if you have been praticing it previous to the workshop, from the DVD or from earlier live training).
For more about the form, and numerous testimonials about how amazing the form is, please see http://www.taichi-enlightenment.com

Myself and invited guest Tony Balistreri will be sharing our insights on how to use this Qigong for Abundance & Longevity. Tony has been doing qigong for ten years, and owns a private gold & silver mint.
We want you to start thinking about how to use the gift of living in a universe filled with unlimited Qi can be put to work more effectively in your life.
We know that some of you will feel inspired to come to our special seminar in Asheville on April 12 & 13 on the same topic. It’s at the Biltmore Hilton. There you will directly FEEL that wealth flowing in your Energy Body. (Details below).
A few of the amazing things you will learn at our April 12-13 seminar:
1. What is the Law of Attraction, how does it operate? Is it different than the laws of the Life Force (Qi field), so well described by ancient Taoists?
2. Why people who watched The Secret (bestseller DVD on Law of Attraction) only got a half-truth, and why its likely few of them got rich (except the author!). Why spiritually-inclined people are often materially poor – but unnecessarily so.
3. What is abundance? How does Qi (Chi) relate to wealth? What’s the difference between spiritual and material wealth? How do they relate to Taoist notions of worldly and spiritual destiny?
4. Why it is energetically good for your wealth to own physical gold and silver (apart from economic investment reasons). The historical role of gold and silver in internal and external alchemy.
5. How a sacred movement ritual like Primordial Tai Chi organizes your Energy Body into a coherent (unified) field that makes it easier to attract abundance.
6. Why all Qigong or Tai Chi forms are not alike. They generate different kinds of Qi. Improve your skill at managing your Qi. You can choose to focus on health or wealth or inner peace/wisdom.
7. Why there are often delays in manifesting what we sincerely need. The nature of Resistance, our Shadow Side. How Ego tends to disperse its wealth as a form of self-sabotage.
8. How a coherent personal Energy Body supports having radiant physical health and a happy long life. You can manifest whatever your soul truly needs.
This qigong training will be integrated with the master-manifesting skills of Tony Balistreri:
from Tony Balistreri:
I’ve come to understand by practicing Qi Gong, for over a decade, that it can prime the pump of our healing and self-alignment abilities. Once our “chi” motor is running, so to speak, we can then begin to sense, especially in our hands, what the energy feels like. We can then transmute the energy into a frequency and we’re off and running.
Things have been changing, have you noticed? There’s a new energy available to us. I believe it is new to the planet. We have moved into a time in our human evolution where this physical existence has become more malleable. This is an amazing opportunity for us to truly begin to create how we prefer our lives to be. Sometimes, it may feel as though we are stumbling through this existence, without being able to influence it.
I know you’ve heard this before: “No matter how hard we try, this life cannot be changed from the outside.”
Our preferences must take form from the inside for life to reflect it back to us. Simple as this may sound, it takes a bit of guidance and practice. I will guide you through specific meditations and give you practical tools to help you bolster your power of intention. You’ll gain unlimited, unfailing power to manifest your dreams. Even more, you will come away with a certainty, a clarity, a knowing, and a new confidence in your own abilities.
Michael and I invite you to explore: “Qi Gong for Longevity and Abundance!”

Awaken Your 8 Psychic Channels: FUSION of FIVE ELEMENTS 2 & 3.
Open the Macro-Cosmic Orbit & Eight Extraordinary Vessels
Cost: still only $144, based on sacred Number.
Secrets of growing a powerful Energy Body Psychic alchemy: open 8 core channels
• Supercharge spine in spirals of golden light • Open thrusting, belt, arm & leg channels • Heal chronic illness & deep pre-natal trauma • 8 Extraordinary Vessels Qigong (on DVD) • Pangu Mystical Qigong (on DVD)
Read SAMPLE TRANSCRIPT from Fusion 2/3 course lecture:
Open the Macro-Cosmic Orbit by linking chi flow in the Eight Extraordinary (“psychic”) channels. These channels link your pre-natal and post-natal energy bodies, i.e. the deep structure of how you birth yourself each flowing moment. Source needs a pathway to flow into the physical body, and this is the pathway.
Learn to purify your aura & regulate your Energy Body with belt & thrusting channels. Give to and Receive chi from the environment with Positive & Negative Arm & Leg channels.
The 8 Extra Vessels connect the inner and outer chi field, and allow you to “dance” between your inner and outer life. The Wudang Mountain version of the macro-cosmic orbit will also be taught as the most powerful internal method I’ve found for integrating the 8 Extraordinary Vessels into a continuous flowing circuit.
The macro-orbit is the foundation for opening chi flow to 8 Original Forces of Universe (I Ching trigram-tones). Powerful “8 Extraordinary Vessels” qigong form makes this practice simple to remember. It heals deep psychic imbalances not reached by acupuncture. Many mysterious and chronic illnesses can be healed at this 8 Extra Vessels level, much faster than using ordinary 12 meridian acupuncture or herbs.
Another new practice taught is my recently developed “9 Spirals of the Energy Body” in the four directions to integrate the Five Vital Organ Spirits (Shen) with the Five Directional Dragons. This practice connects the internal flow of your macro-cosmic orbit out to the edge of the universe – and back! A wonderfully empowering and healing journey.
This course lays a strong foundation for Healing Love and Water & Fire (Kan & Li) Alchemy.
The 9 Major Benefits of Fusion of the Five Elements 2 & 3:
Build a more powerful Energy Body by making conscious the deep energetic structure of your body-mind. You become far more powerful energetically in all spheres of your life. Everyone needs more energy; few understand where to find it and how to keep it balanced. Fusion 2/3 offers a template for a dynamic, flexible, grounded, and continuously flowing Energy Body.
Activate the relationship between your 5 body-spirits and the 8 extraordinary vessels. Fusion 1 develops the pearl as the integration and purification of ego consciousness. Fusion 2/3 moves the pearl through the 8 channels. These 8 channels are the deep pathways the 5 inner “body spirits” of our heart-mind (“xin”) use to energetically manage our biology, our psychology, and our spirituality. Cosmologically, this is equivalent to hard wiring 5-phase and 8-trigram/8-cosmic force theory into one.
Open chi flow internally in the Macro-cosmic Orbit. The Micro-cosmic orbit taught in Qigong Fundamentals 2 balances internal yin-yang chi flow. The Macro orbit adds in the arm and leg channels, which balances the chi flow between the environment and our body. It functionally integrates the chi flow between our inner self and our outer self/world. The macro orbit creates a wonderful feeling of deeper harmony with all that is around us. This Fusion 3 practice is made simple and easy-to-embody by use of the unique 8 Extraordinary Vessels Qigong form, which I custom-developed from years of practice.
Gain a powerful tool for self-healing, especially chronic illness and “mystery illnesses” that don’t respond to other treatments. Since the healing with the 8 Extraordinary Vessels occurs at a deeper level, it dissolves chronic diseases that are hard to cure, and stubborn mental-emotional patterns that do not respond to standard medical or psychological techniques.
5.Learn to tap into the most effective secrets of Classical Chinese Medicine (CCM). TCM (“Traditional Chinese Medicine”, invented about 50 years ago) does not use the 8 extraordinary vessels. It’s because the 8 Extraordinary Vessels are deep meridians, mostly below the skin level, thus not easily accessible to acupuncture. These 8 deep ‘reservoirs and canals” feed the 12 superficial (vital organ) meridians. If the 8 deep channels are balanced, all 12 of the regular channels will automatically self-balance.
Private studies show that 8 Extra treatments work faster and have a higher success rate of healing than regular 12-meridian acupuncture. 8 extra acupuncture treatments are slowly becoming known in the west, using ion-pumping cords and master-coupling points where the channels begin and start. But these channels are much more powerful when opened internally and in conjunction with pearl of inner will refined in Fusion 1.
6.Grow deep wisdom with “psychic alchemy”. Fusion teaches you to become a “Living I Ching” (Book of Unchanging Changes, 3000 year old classic that is foundation of Taoism). Learn the connection between the 8 deep core channels in your body and the 8 trigrams of the I Ching as symbolic system for mediating the 8 cosmic forces that hold form in place and dictate all patterns of change.
This pattern of “8” is not just some Chinese myth – it is found in biological cell division, in DNA structure, and in sacred geometry of the 8 points of the cube/earth element. The 8 trigrams of the I Ching are used for divination. When you activate 8 deep channels awareness in the body, you become a highly intuitive or psychic person. You begin to spontaneously receive more information from the larger chi field of the environment.
Supercharge the spinal cord, its physical nerve plexus and its subtle energy wiring with the Fusion 2 method of wrapping the spine with golden light (chi) of your inner pearl. This intense practice is like changing your body’s internal communication system from slow dialup to high speed internet.
8.Learn numerous practical ways to interface your physical body and your Energy Body. The two most important are using the belt channels for grounding and psychic protection, and activating the left, right, and center thrusting channels to clear internal blockages and extend your awareness deep into earth or high into heaven. The pearl can be extended like an antenna above the head or below the ground to receive cosmic chi frequencies without static. When core channels flow in continuous yin-yang circuits, they form an energetic torus (donut shaped aura) that is self-recharging.
The purified chi of your pearl can clean your aura and spine if used to “slice” through energy blockages. Pearl is also used to rejuvenate your senses (especially helpful for eyes of computer users) with internal figure-8 spiraling techniques.
Open pathways of communication between your Original Spirit, pre-natal self and your post-natal (physical) self. The pearl and the 8 Extra Vessels are like half-way meditators between your physical body and your formless inner self. Thus Fusion internal technology can be used to heal trauma that occurred in your mother’s womb. It facilitates downloading whatever our body-mind needs from the infinite, formless sea of chi within. Every human being was born from this dark ocean of potential energy. But more important is to realize we all carry that ocean of chi inside of us, and learn how to use it.
Pre-req: Fusion 1, live or by homestudy. Learning the energy channel work of Fusion 2/3 without doing the emotional body/inner pearl work of Fusion 1 is also possible, but not optimal. Email me first.

2c. How to Cultivate Creative Qi: Leonardo DaVinci Qigong
Michael Gelb, best-selling author of How to Think Like Leonardo Da Vinci; 30 year qigong enthusiast with a new book on How to use Qi to enhance your creativity coming in 2014. Be sure to read the amazing testimonials for Michael at the bottom of this page.
Leonardo da Vinci is the greatest genius in human history, renowned for his unparalleled accomplishments in art and science. Leonardo is also renowned for his exceptional poise, power, and grace of movement. He was a unique conduit for Divine Qi.
Creativity is my passion. I’m especially passionate about helping people develop and express their creativity. It’s my profession, but it’s also my life. Nothing gives me greater pleasure than helping someone realize his or her creative potential. Whether it’s helping an aspiring author to write her first book, guiding a company to develop a more creative culture, or assisting a young friend in discovering his creative purpose, there’s nothing that pleases me more. I do this by teaching tools for creative thinking and by a transmission of creative energy. That’s what I want to do for you in this sretrat.
“What if” questions are classic keys to unleashing creativity, so consider:
• What if there is a source of creative energy that is inexhaustible, easily accessible, and free?
• What if the people we call geniuses, such as Leonardo da Vinci, Hildegard von Bingen, Nikola Tesla, and Marie Curie, had an intuitive understanding of how to connect with this source?
• What if this retreat could teach you to apply that wisdom to raise your baseline of creative energy and insight?
• What if we combined this practical wisdom on accessing creative energy with an exploration of the most powerful methods for understanding and applying the creative process in your life now?
The answers are: There is. They did. It will. And using my special Leonard Da Vinci Qigong, you will discover that you are more creative than you’ve ever imagined!
The international best seller How to Think Like Leonardo da Vinci introduced 7 principles to help you learn to be more creative. More than any other figure in history, Leonardo da Vinci represents the fulfillment of all of our creative potential. He serves as what Jung would call an archetype of human potential. In Da Vinci Qigong you will embody the principles and align with them energetically so that you may bring them to life in a profoundly powerful way.
1. Curiosità -embrace infinite curiosity.
2. Dimostrazione-develop independent thinking.
3. Sensazione– sharpen the senses.
4. Sfumato -embrace ambiguity and change.
5. Arte/Scienza– integrate logic and imagination.
6. Corporalità – balance body, mind, and spirit.
7. Connessione – discover new connections.
A few years ago during an intensive qigong retreat, I realized that it would be possible to help people experience the power of the Da Vinci principles through a series of postures and movements that evoke and magnify this universal wisdom. I’ve been evolving and refining this practice and it has become much more than the sum of it’s parts.
In this seminar, you will embody the principles and align with them energetically. You will experience a profound awakening of your creative qi. I will also share insights and methods from my experience as a teacher of the Alexander Technique, aikido, Wu style tai chi and qigong to help you enliven and enrich your practice. The seminar is perfect for beginners, masters and everyone in between.

Before your seminar, I thought that the world was divided into “creative” people and the rest of us. As a reluctant former engineer and accidental marketing professor, I considered myself firmly in the latter camp – a terminally left-brain-dominated automaton to whom the world of inspired creativity would forever remain a mystery. You led me to a revelation. For the first time in my life, I realized that I had unique gifts to give, and that my life and work could rise above merely making a living to actually making a difference. Looking back, I mark this as the beginning of my own personal renaissance, a joyful journey of growth and self-discovery. – Professor Raj Sisodia author of Firms of Endearment and Conscious Capitalism
Michael Gelb is a man of infinite energy, bursting creativity and huge enthusiasm for life. He is a model, in short, of everything he celebrates and teaches. — Tony Schwartz author of The Power of Full Engagement

Retreats 3b. Fusion 2/3, and 4c. Tai Chi Qigong, Northern Wu Tai Chi, Bagua
3b. Fusion 2 & 3 – Macrocosmic Orbit + Iron Shirt Qigong 2 & 3 – Andrew McCart
EIGHT PSYCHIC CHANNELS INNER MEDITATION July 4 – July 9, 2014
This meditation is a journey in the Eight Psychic or Extraordinary Channels. These channels are the link between the inner and outer, the prenatal and postnatal and the yin and yang apsects of our life. The energetics of these channels influences the deepest aspects of our life; including Jing and Yuan Qi. And they are the locations where chronic illnesses and emotional patterns collect and are stored. This is a profound deep healing meditation that can free us from old, deep, chronic patterns and conditioning and the blockages they create, opening us to our yuan condition, our natural spirit.
During this retreat we learn about the Eight Extraordinary Channels from Taoist medical, healing and spiritual perspectives. We open the Macro-Cosmic Orbit by linking chi flow in the Eight Extraordinary (“psychic”) channels. These channels link your pre-natal and post-natal energy bodies, i.e. the deep structure of how you birth yourself each flowing moment.
The macro-orbit is the foundation for opening chi flow to 8 Original Forces of Universe (I Ching trigram-tones). It heals deep psychic imbalances not reached by traditional healing methods. Many mysterious and chronic illnesses can be healed at the level, much faster than using acupuncture or herbs.
This course lays a strong foundation for Healing Love and Water & Fire (Kan & Li) Alchemy.
This retreat contains three Qi Gong treasures that work together to cultivate the three treasures of your life: Jing, Qi and Shen or the physical, emotional/mental and spiritual. I hope you will join me exploring these Qi Gong treasures in the magical Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina.
4c. Tai Chi Qigong #1 Rooting + #2 Fast Fighting Form – Steven Sy
Week 4: July 11 – 16, 2014
TAI CHI QIGONG 1-2
Tai Chi Qigong Short Yang Form – Slow Rooting and Fast Fighting versions Taught by Steven Sy
NO PREREQUISITES No previous Tai Chi background or prior Healing Tao coursework required. This course is suitable for both complete beginners, as well as advanced practitioners already familiar with the Tai Chi form(s) who are looking to refine their skills. Individual attention during practice periods will facilitate all skill levels.
Tai Chi. What is it? It’s China’s most famous “internal” martial art, even though most people learn it for health rather than fighting. We’ve all seen or heard of older people doing Tai Chi in parks for their health. It has a long history and tradition in China, but now it has become more and more popular here in the United States as well. In fact, it has become so popular that many “hard” or external style martial arts schools, senior centers and even local community centers now have Tai Chi classes!
What makes THIS Tai Chi class special? After all, there are so many different Tai Chi classes around. You can learn Yang style Tai Chi, Wu style Tai Chi, Chen style Tai Chi, etc. . . . each having a multitude of different forms, and variations on how these forms are done. In short, there are no shortage of these classes. You could spend a lifetime, even in just one Tai Chi school, and not run out of things to learn. HOWEVER, in the Healing Tao, there are only THREE official Tai Chi forms. Out of the sea of millions of Tai Chi forms, the Healing Tao has selected just three. IN THIS CLASS, YOU WILL LEARN 2 OF THESE 3.
Why are these 3 forms special? The reason is this: these forms are not just Tai Chi, but they are considered Tai Chi Qigong. The Qigong (aka “chi kung”, pronounced chee-gong) means that we get much deeper into the energetic flow of qi (i.e. lifeforce energy) than what is normally done in “regular Tai Chi”, which is often called Tai Chi Chuan. The actual differences between what is considered Tai Chi Chuan and Tai Chi Qigong (and what these mean in an academic sense) will be discussed more in our class. However, the important take-away for now is that these 3 Healing Tao Tai Chi forms (of which you will learn 2 in the class) go beyond basic Tai Chi; they create a deeper profound energetic flow of qi throughout one’s body. Thus these forms are worthy of special attention.
Moreover, the Tai Chi Qigong forms taught in this retreat are actually easier to learn than the “regular Tai Chi forms” found outside of the Healing Tao. So, in short, you need to put in less learning time, but yet get deeper results. Moreover, due to the fact that the learning time is reduced, complete beginners can expect to own a solid practice when they leave this course.
ABOUT TAI CHI QIGONG 1
Tai Chi 1 is a slow-moving, meditative, relaxed, short form. By doing the Tai Chi 1 form, you will be able to calm your mind, reduce your stress, increase your energy levels, and improve your overall health. Tai Chi 1 is a very grounded exercise. We will focus on deepening our connection to the ground, learning to sense how we distribute our weight between our feet, and feeling the stability that we generate.
This serves to increase safety in our everyday life, as slip-and-fall accidents (especially among the elderly) are a common cause of serious injury. Much of this is caused by improper distribution of weight. So this creates the benefit of having better balance in our everyday lives. By learning to move from one rooted position to another, this stability training will also translate to stability with one’s emotions.
In our fast-paced world, with a lot of things calling to us, and many people projecting negative emotions, it is crucial to be able to maintain stability and not have these outside influences take you off-balance. In short, by deepening our relationship to the ground, we will find more stability in our emotional body as well. Physically, the simple transfer of weight from one rooted position to another will also serve to strengthen our bones, tendons, and ligaments. Those concerned with effects of osteoporosis can reverse these effects through regular practice of this Tai Chi form.
As we move from one rooted posture to another, we will do so a relaxed, graceful, and flowing way. In so doing, it becomes a fluid dance that moves qi throughout the body and makes you feel more alive. By activating this qi flow, it can create a profound healing . . .on the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual levels. In short, doing this Tai Chi form makes your whole body feel vibrant.
Unlike many other Tai Chi forms, the Tai Chi 1 form spirals both counter-clockwise and clockwise, so it helps to balance both hemispheres of the brain. Yet, at the same time, the Tai Chi 1 form does not take very long to do. It is a short, 13-movement form that one can reasonably do in its entirety in only 7-10 minutes! In our fast-paced lives with little free time, one can easily take a short 10-minute break, do the entire form, and feel rejuvenated immediately.
So one does not need to have a set “practice time” to be able to squeeze the form into your day. Moreover, in this fashion, one can do the form almost anywhere because it does not up much space. Most Tai Chi Chuan forms move back and forth along a line. This Tai Chi Qigong form moves in a small circle, turning left and right around the central axis point of the circle. Oftentimes, even a hotel room–or a break room–will have the space you need.
People who have background or interest in the spiritual techniques of the Healing Tao can also explore those aspects within the Tai Chi 1 form itself. One can connect into the 5-element phases, Yin-yang polarity, the 8 directional forces of the Earth, higher level cosmic and universal forces, you name it! Some of these aspects will, in fact, be introduced in the course. In particular, along with teaching the Tai Chi form, we will introduce and/or review some basic sitting meditations of the Healing Tao. No former Healing Tao background is required. These sitting meditations will allow us to have ample time for rest and to digest the Tai Chi material. Moreover, these meditations will provide additional material to take the Tai Chi 1 form even deeper.
ABOUT TAI CHI QIGONG 2 (Note: Tai Chi 1 is NOT a prerequisite. Tai Chi 2 is simply a different form.)
Tai Chi 2 is a fast-paced and fun Tai Chi form. It is very unique. Most people think of Tai Chi as a very slow-moving exercise. However, Tai Chi 2 is a rare, little-known, FAST version of Tai Chi. Not many people are aware of this form, and it is not taught that often here in the US. It is my pleasure to introduce this form to you. Note: Tai Chi 2 only takes 3 minutes to do, so the form is not overly taxing, even for people with weaker constitutions.
Tai Chi 2–since it is one of the few forms that is actually done fast–is one of the few forms in the Healing Tao that really activates the cardiovascular system. Consequently, it is one of the most effective for improving one’s blood circulation and strengthening one’s blood vessels. Moreover, blood is the carrier for qi, so by improving one’s blood circulation, the ability to transport qi throughout the body is increased. This not only energizes the body, but it also increases one’s metabolism. Any excess body fat will naturally begin to dissolve just through minimal regular practice of this form.
While our focus in this retreat (both for Tai Chi 2 and Tai Chi 1) will be on the healing and spiritual aspects of the practices, both of these Tai Chi forms will serve martial artists as well. In particular, Tai Chi Qigong 1 contains many of the basic elements of “regular Tai Chi” (which has martial applications). Some of these will be pointed out to the interested attendee. For the martial artists, the Tai Chi 2 form will provide an opportunity to see “Tai Chi in action”, as the fast-paced nature of the Tai Chi 2 form mimics the real-time speed of actual Tai Chi combat. Through the activation of the fast-moving blood flow and its associated transportation of qi, the martial artist will be able to train the technique of “Fa Jin”, which is discharge power, i.e. the ability to explosively emit qi in a defensive application.
In total, I look forward to sharing Tai Chi Qigong 1-2 with you.

Week 5: July 18 – 23, 2014 (Friday dinner & class through Wed. noon lunch)
5b. 9 Palace Bagua Zhang: Martial Art meets Mysticism & Magic – Frank Allen
Nine Palace Ba Gua Zhang Retreat
Frank Allen: 40 years experience shows itself in amazing range of movement and perception.
For the first 35 years of my training in Ba Gua Zhang I searched for the point where the different aspects of the art would converge. Then 5 years ago, while training with Grandmaster Liu Jing Ru, in Beijing China he offered myself, my partner, Tina Zhang, and our most senior student in Ba Gua Zhang an opportunity to learn the 9 Palace Practice of B Gua Zhang.
The exoteric aspect of 9 Palace training is the epitome of Ba Gua’s famed multiple opponent defense practice, often illustrated by a practitioner circling around a pattern of 9 poles, but Grandmaster Liu quickly explained that this was only the outer training and on the inside 9 Palace practice presented the foundations of Chinese mysticism. The study of the phenomenon of change as presented by the classic Yi Jing enters into the study and as the basic stepping pattern is of the ancient star pattern walks of the Chinese shamans and Daoist magicians, the practice is ultimately a profound magic ritual.
Traditionally 9 Palace Practice has been taught Only from Master to senior inner door students and disciples in one on one training. This summer I will offer 9 Palace Practice training in a public format for the first time at Healing Tao USA Retreats. Serious practitioners of Ba Gua Zhang and Chinese mysticism should not miss this opportunity…..

Week 5: July 18 – 25, 2014 (Friday dinner & class to Wed. lunch at noon)
Tina Zhang is National Women’s Wu Style Tai Ji Quan Champion and author of “Classical Northern Wu Style Tai Ji Quan” The Northern Wu tyle of Tai Ji quan was the last refinement of classical Tai Ji Quan. All further refinements thereafter were focused solely on the health aspects of the art. The Wu style founder Quan (Chuan) You was an officer in the Imperial Guard and learned Tai Ji Quan directly from the founder of the Yang style, Yang Lu Chan. Quan You’s modifications further softened the movements while adding the short range power of the Ox Plow stance, and increasing the flow of movement and energy. As with all the “classical” versions of the art, ALL of the health aspects are intrinsic within the movements of Northern Wu style and actually offer improved health benefits beyond the later modifications. Tina Zhang is a formal disciple of Northern Wu Style Grandmaster Li Bing Ci
Tina will teach the foundations of Northern Wu Tai Ji, both form and the famous Northern Wu Sword Set
Serious students of the art of Tai Ji Quan should not miss this chance to study the last of the great classical styles with a true master of the art.
Tina has hunted all over China to find the greatest masters of Tai Chi and Qigong.
Tina in interview with Taiji Magazine: “We should pursue the experience of practicing Qi Gong or internal martial arts constantly as a healthy life style. A healthy life is not going to come to you automatically, nor is it guaranteed that you will be healthy forever because you take a taiji or Qi Gong class occasionally.
“It is a continuous work that will takes years and years, maybe a whole life for the wisdom to be stimulated into your mind and body which becomes the power that you need for good life. Try to learn Tai Ji Quan or/and Ba Gua Zhang. They are both beautiful internal arts and their martial aspects can be great fun and everyone likes to play. Enjoy what you have in your life and be happy about who you are.”
Open to Everyone, without prerequisites, regardless of background or age. Students who wish to eventually teach may apply for certification under the Healing Tao University Instructor Certification program.
