Hiya,
I looked over what I could find of your training log and there seems to be only four days worth so far. Is that right or are there others in there somewhere?
And, if you don’t mind my asking, how old are you?
I think one of the most important things is to continually refine your goal(s). What is it you want most that is motivating you to be a practitioner? How will you be that is different from who/what you are now?
Another thing that crosses my mind is that it could be very valuable to you to validate the six years you say you spent away from doing any practices. Make those years part of your overall growth. Don’t deny them in any way.
It’s very good to go slowly. That way you can build up a good base. The key to everything is balance. You have to consciously moderate all you do with a gentle hand. No forcing, no agendas. Have goal-less goals. Be regular because you love what the practices are doing for you. Do all of it with an inner smile unless your emotions are someplace else. Let it take you.
I have reduced the way of the lifeforce down to three simple things that everything else is built on- Breathe, Relax, and Feel. These are its three functions. If you initiate one, the others get triggered also. They cannot be separated from one another. When you can’t do anything else, you can do these. It’s all about Presence.
Michael has said something a number of times that is very relevant here. Once the lifeforce knows you are willing to pay attention to it, it really focusses on you. It wants communion and it is your best teacher. That and yourSelf. You should do what really pleases you and be aware of your own negativity when it comes up, which it will. Alchemy is about transforming, and the hidden stuff will rise. Like I said in that recent essay about feelings, we have parts of us that we would rather not face and that say NO! to our highest intentions. The greatest growth and fulfillment comes from interacting directly with these parts until they transform. SO much energy is locked up in them!
Something that is simple and powerful to do that you may like (since your name is Treesinger) is to work with tree energy. Do some standing postures near trees very consciously and ask them to help you. (Which reminds me, asking for help is very important.) Trees are masters of rooting, right? Use your presence to feel into the tree you choose and sink down within it. This should produce some very interesting experiences for you.
OK for now. Good luck!
AlexanderJune 23, 2006 at 6:05 am #14939PeroParticipantNice post. I know it was meant for Treesinger, but I got something out of it too, so thanks. Interesting about rooting and the trees.
June 23, 2006 at 6:44 am #14941treesingerParticipantYeah,. . . a little history/info on me. 28 yrs old – girl. 6 years ago . . . I spent some time, a few months learning from someone who had obviously learned from someone who had learned from Healing Tao, but after looking over the website, what I got was scattered. Very accurate in it’s description, but… well, maybe I just wasn’t serious enough about getting into it at the time. Anyway, he did not tell me where the info was coming from (HT), which would have been very helpful. He disappeared and I wandered on to something else. I consider the last 6 years wonderful. Not that everything that happened was wonderful, but I consistantly learned and have grown. When I say that, I mean that there was a time that I would have let people’s negative vibes (those octopus people mentioned in earlier post) really bother me and I’d get sucked into it. There was a time where I was very judgemental, as I find a lot of people to be, but through life, I have learned to let go and accept people, and things. Just be here and now and experience this moment. I am just starting on this road which is why I only have 4 days worth . . . and no, there’s no great revalations on them, but I just want to know is this the right direction? Does this sound normal, how it was when you FIRST got started. I am going to go to Michael’s Nov. 11-12 class which is the Inner Smile and 6 healing sounds, but I am having to save up for that, so no money to buy the videos, just an old tape and old friend made one time for me to go on.
TREES 🙂 I am in the woods whenever possible, and I do feel them. I can put my hands on them and feel the life force in them and around them, and cam sometimes put my hands on them and feel like . . . like I merge with them and the energy is like a river that flows. It’s beutiful.
Anyway . . .sorry this is long winded.
Oh yeah – goals. I think my body/energy is capable of amazing things. I think there are several ways to experience the things that…can be experienced. My goal in life is to learn as much as possible-about accepting others, loving them, loving myself, learning myself. This could be a huge part of learning myself, I think, and so I wanted to explore it.
thanks
🙂June 23, 2006 at 6:46 am #14943treesingerParticipantAlexanders’ posts have made a lot of sense to me, so that is why I directed it to him, but if anyone has words of wisdom for someone who’s peeking in the door, just getting started, I’m all for it.
June 23, 2006 at 8:31 am #14945matblackParticipantHey TS,
someone asked me the other day to state what I would most like to achieve/get out of my practice and what would fulfill my life (my goals) I’ve never really liked answering that ’cause I could never specify anything. I prefer to just look short term. But for the sake of satisfying their request, after consulting my deeper self, I came up with a response.I said something to the effect that I want to intergrate and harmonise every facet of my being, realise and actualise my pure potenial, and by doing so, emante and share that harmonised state with all beings.
I feel it has similarities to what you said :
******………. others, loving them, loving myself, learning myself. This could be a huge part of learning myself********
When I read this statement of yours, I felt a genuine sincerity comming from you……. nice.
June 23, 2006 at 1:36 pm #14947treesingerParticipantYeah, it sounds like we’re on the same page 🙂
June 23, 2006 at 4:15 pm #14949Alexander AlexisParticipantHi Treesinger,
“Does this sound normal, how it was when you FIRST got started.”
Yes, essentially. You’re doing fine. You are honestly open, exploring, questioning and practicing. You will build on all that has past and is now. Keep asking the lifeforce/spirit to guide you. Trust that you are guiding yourself. Everyone’s path is different and learning to trust ourselves is both the beginning and the end, like the inner smile. So relax! “The force is your ally,” as Yoda would say.
From an astrological viewpoint, at 28 you are heading into your first Saturn return, a profoundly renewing time of restructuring your whole life. It takes place when you are 29-30 (because Saturn takes 29.4 years to go around the sun and get back to the place it was in when you were born) and its effects are all-encompassing. (If you think you are asking a lot of questions of yourself now, just wait a few more months…) I mention this because in Daoism Saturn has a special role. It is the higher vibration of earth energy, which is the major focus in chi gung and alchemy. Be open to its influence. It “corrects” and balances us and enables us to create that “pearl” everybody is always talking about.
If you have been able to turn around a tendency to judge others then you are doing great. Judging, blaming, being cynical and bitter… all are very difficult victim states to transform. Be happy you were not overcome by them. Use of these techniques will raise you even more.
“I am going to go to Michael’s Nov. 11-12 class which is the Inner Smile and 6 healing sounds,”
This will be a wonderful experience. The Fundamentals will give you much of what you are looking for both in technique and reassurance. Michael carrries good energies from good sources – many sources. You can get a transmission from contact with him (I have) that includes the many advanced teachers he has studied with, their lineages, and China itself.
Will it be in Asheville, NC? Western NC is a dense rainforest and you can really dive into tree and all green energy there. Water too. Moisture, rain, waterfalls… Very juicy and nurturing.
“TREES 🙂 I am in the woods whenever possible, and I do feel them. I can put my hands on them and feel the life force in them and around them, and cam sometimes put my hands on them and feel like . . . like I merge with them and the energy is like a river that flows. It’s beutiful.”
I had a suspicion that was true. Super. Let it take you. It can be a great source of learning and growth. Follow your natural inclinations to carve your path. Each path is individual. It is meant to be that way. Society and the ego are not and that is why we get confused and doubt ourselves sometimes. It ends up being a choice – “Do I trust the tribe or my Self?”
“Anyway . . .sorry this is long winded.”
Not necessary to be sorry. Give yourself the room you need. We’re here to help each other.
“Oh yeah – goals. I think my body/energy is capable of amazing things. I think there are several ways to experience the things that…can be experienced. For me, the Daoist path is a most stable and heart-centered way to go home. If it looks like that to you, use it. If love and acceptance is that important to you, then spend a great deal of time with the Inner Smile and see what happens. The Smile is the act of aligning with your Original Self which is always in a state of supreme acceptance. This will lead you into the alchemical mist which transforms everything that is not whole inside us and gives us what we are wanting.
I appreciate you asking for my opinion and send you many blessings, Alexander
June 23, 2006 at 4:20 pm #14951Alexander AlexisParticipantGlad you liked it, Pero. When we post things here everybody sees them and so we are sharing in a group all the time. I know that and enjoy it. Even though we do not physically see each other, our energies are working together all the time through this medium.
Trees and whatever other nature things you get attracted to can be amazing sources of fun and growth. Also help for things of all kinds. They are spirits like us. -A
June 23, 2006 at 4:31 pm #14953treesingerParticipantcan you believe that i lived in asheville for a couple of years! what timing– i didn’t know anything about HT then. when i lived there, i worked 2nd shift and would get up before the sun was up, pack my dog in the car and head off for bent creek, pisgah, or somewhere on the parkway and spend all morning outside hiking. oh well, we are where we need to be when we need to be. June 23, 2006 at 10:13 pm #14965matblackParticipantAlexander, you know I respect you, and reading that post to treesinger reinforces that respect. Very encouraging words mate.
One thing in particular that rang bells for me was this:
*****It takes place when you are 29-30 (because Saturn takes 29.4 years to go around the sun and get back to the place it was in when you were born) and its effects are all-encompassing….*****
I turn 30 on July 28 this year. I have been noticing some changes in the past 10 months………*****(If you think you are asking a lot of questions of yourself now, just wait a few more months..)***** whoooaaa……your not kidding!
To Treesinger, when Alexander said
*****If love and acceptance is that important to you, then spend a great deal of time with the Inner Smile and see what happens. The Smile is the act of aligning with your Original Self which is always in a state of supreme acceptance.*****
This is an invalvuable piece of advice. This alone WILL transorm so much. Besides formal practice, throughout your daily life you might wanna do it something loosley like this:
Initiate the smile, go with it, flow with it, feel the response comming from deep within, then breath into that response and let it become your state. Because of course, that is your reality anyway.
Babies have a beautiful way of reminding us of this with their pure smiles.+ –
