A small set of strength exercises for the pelvic region (link) that, when used in combination, result in pulsing of vitality within the lower tan tien.
May 24, 2007 at 1:49 am #22312matblackParticipantTrunk, that cartoon picture of the guy doing the squat reminds me of some of the techniques that i’ve learned from dragon gate daoyin. (link below)
Many of them work on the hip joint which as you said, has great affect on the LTT.
Another thing i’ve noticed about the gong that focuses on the hips in particular
is that the sacrum gets gently squeezed/massaged on both sides.The effects of this I have noticed are:
improved prostate condition – as the nerves passing through th sacrum directlly feed the prostate
toning of the groinal area including muscles and tendons/ligaments
improvement in lumber and psoas – in terms of better strength, suppleness and posture
a ‘hollowing out’ or clearing of nerve pathways/channels along the sacrum, coxyx and lower spine. this has lead to some very blissing’pulsing from the prostate, up the coxyx, sacrum and up the spine during meditation, as well as occasionally spontaneouslly as well.
Thanx for bring this up, the whole ‘downstairs’ area benefits greatlly from this kind of attention. And females would have corresponding benefits as well

Always nice to get cross-lineage confirmation, comparison. 😀
Those’re my favorite of the squats; I call ’em “lateral squats”, and I find that they open my hips – and even into my pelvic region – better than any other squat that I’ve tried.
m> The effects of this I have noticed are.. >
I’ve also gotten a great deal out of this line of work. I’ve found that a problem I’ve had with stretching, breathing, meditation, even massage, (all the things you’re usually taught by the esoteric sexuality crowd) is that they never directly addressed the serious muscular strength, strong contraction, that comes from vitality. That feels to me a very primal male expression (women probably express it too, I suppose), and that it was generally missing from the sexual teachings was a huge missing piece, for me. This little set of three exercises (link) addresses that for me, especially when I use them in combination.
🙂

Sorry Trunk, I don't fully understand what you mean by 'serious muscular strength, strong contraction'
Do you mean that the feelings/sensations of 'power' and strength that come with vitality, (particularlly arousal) are not addressed by most systems?
And with that being the case, how then to integrate this strength/contraction into the rest of the body? In other words, how to use the 'power' mainfestation of jing into the body for the entire bodys' benefit?
Extreme cases of the strentgth/power overload are evidenced by footballers and other power athletes who have so much jing that they easilly get into fights at nightclubs etc.
If that IS what you mean, it's the very same question I ask my masters. (i have 2)
I said to one of them that sometimes the practice generates so much energy in me that i feel that I can't contain it. The cup spills over so to speak.
He said that there is a way to increase the size of you cup – the kineys' and bodys' capacity to contain and integrate a greater and greater charge of jing
This when combined and balanced with qi and shen cultivation completelly balances the body and allows it to continually regenerate itself.Hope I'm talking about what you originally meant by strength/power contraction and how to address it.
here's a link to the powerful practice i was refering to taught by Master Feng
May 25, 2007 at 4:51 am #22318BeginnerParticipant“This when combined and balanced with qi and shen cultivation completelly balances the body and allows it to continually regenerate itself. ”
QI cultivation….micro orbit and deeper channels?
Shen cultivation… Fusion and alchemy?
May 25, 2007 at 5:25 am #22320matblackParticipantI didn’t really specify what i meant by:
“This when combined and balanced with qi and shen cultivation completelly balances the body and allows it to continually regenerate itself. ”
The reason is that I’m not allowed to say much about it. I’m allowed to say what what affect it has, but not how. This is part of the agreement entered into before begining learning the technique.
I know ‘secretive’ practices can have negative connotations, but the reason i can’t say much is because the approach is slightly different for most people.
Master Feng needs specific individual information in order to teach the technique to each person.But in generic terms, there are 3 levels to the practice
1 qi
2 shen
3 jing.
I’ve completed 1&2 but not 3 yet.but i find so far that from my experience (and if I understand Trunk correctlly), jing force can have a variety of manifestations in the body including but not limited to – strength/force/power/agitation/pressure (especially when it builds)
If this can to harnessed in a way that enhances our overall state (level 3) and complement qi and shen, then we are integrated and whole as humans – physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, ………..
May 25, 2007 at 10:00 am #22322BeginnerParticipantMat,
This doesn’t sound as much a secret system as one customized for each student. I respect that and in some ways envy that relationship and in other ways don’t.
As the Healing Tao is the only taoist system I have applied myself too my response was an aha based on the formulas of this approach according to what you are being taught.
Does Master Feng include a sexual training in the jing piece? That seems crucial. DO you find he understands you emotionally? The way you process or work inside?
Vague questions but the only teacher I have found who gets me panoramically is… me. And then all my friends and enemies who give me valuable pieces and skills along the way. B

m> Do you mean that the feelings/sensations of ‘power’ and strength that come with vitality, .. are not addressed by most systems? >
Yes, but more specifically:
– muscular strength-usage within the pelvic region, and how that relates to processing jing’s power within the pelvic region.(In this essay..) I’m not addressing lower-center psychology, though clearly they’re inter-related. And I’m not addressing blending with other centers, the rest of the body, though obviously those are valid topics.
My experience with strategies of “circulate the jing”, “blend it with other centers”, is that there still tends to be a residue of unprocessed force left within the pelvic region, and that circulating alone does not resolve that.
m> (particularlly arousal) >
Yes and no.
Yes, it helps process unrefined arousal residue.And, no, not necesarily. By working out the pelvis area, you can activate the jing and employ it for purely muscular work. The resulting jing-pulsing is enjoyable, and healthy, but does not contain the element of desire~arousal.
Men tend towards a sexual frenzy imbalance, anyway, and modern life does nothing to process that vitality with physical labor in nature. This gives you a quick way to physically work the area.
m> And with that being the case, how then to integrate this strength/contraction into the rest of the body? >
Not addressing that in this essay. 🙂

May 25, 2007 at 11:36 pm #22326matblackParticipantTrunk, now i understand what you mean
T “there still tends to be a residue of unprocessed force left within the pelvic region, and that circulating alone does not resolve that.”
i actually don’t feel that as residual power at all after practice (daoyin/qigong meditation).
maybe it’s got a lot to do with body type – i’m pretty thin – not really prone to excessive strength anyway. but i can see how stonger constitutional types would have more strength/power particularlly in that region.
T “and modern life does nothing to process that vitality with physical labor in nature. This gives you a quick way to physically work the area.”
one of the reasons why i think your site (alchemical taoism) is soooo valuable.

May 26, 2007 at 12:01 am #22328matblackParticipantHi Barry
B”Does Master Feng include a sexual training in the jing piece?”
I don’t know because I haven’t done it yet, but he has vaguely alluded to it when describing the benefits of level 3.
Strangly though, i have noticed that from combining levels 1&2, that the beginings of sexual practice is somehow addressed.
The first time this happened was during a powerful meditation when the energy built up stronger than ever before. I felt as though i was going to ejaculate but instead the pulsation went up the coxyx, sacrum, spine and becamce a full body bliss state.
Now this happens every so often on it’s own.B”DO you find he understands you emotionally? The way you process or work inside?”
YES.
Very much so, he can read me like a book. Inside and out. So his advice has always ben accurate and at the right time.
It’s very helpful, because I would never want to do any powerful practice without a master there as a guide.BTW., i enjoyed reading your accounts of your kdney pulsing practice 🙂

Yes, you are so right. I thought of mentioning this, but there’s only so much one can type at once. 🙂
I’m a stocky, muscular body type (50% eastern-European genetics). I think that people with more slender musculature have a somewhat different issue-set, and different solutions work perhaps more completely (like stretching). I have to do a certain amount of heavy strength training in order to just relax, and to warm up – always have (at least since puberty). Big contrast to the asian musculature, or others.
m> i actually don’t feel that as residual power at all after practice (daoyin/qigong meditation) >
Grrrrrrr.
~~~
Just to mention a bit more on this exercise set. Basically it strongly, repeatedly, contracts all of the major muscles of the pelvic region .. What else does that? – Orgasm. So, basically, through exercise I’m mimicing some of the muscular response of orgasm. What happens, for me, when I do this (all three exercises in succession) is that, afterwards, the center of my lower core is pulsing, and it feels very cool and nourishing (none of the heat & stagnation issues that accompany aroused jing). I think it’s a very healthy approach for those of my body type to cool our jets. 🙂
Thanks for the compliment.
Glad for the conversation.Trunk
Thank you too for the conversation.
I s’pose different body types have repective advantages and dis-advantages. eg – i find it real easy to relax, but no doubt you have way more endurance and stamina than me (i gave up the dream of being a brick layer/landscapeer a few years ago)
ADVERTISMENT: ‘the human body. – no 2 models are the same’
I hope many people can/will read this:
from how you describe it, it is obviouslly so beneficial, and would be to many others.
May 28, 2007 at 7:47 pm #22334TrunkParticipantI made two changes to the essay, based on our conversation:
1. I included a couple of tank pictures, one at the beginning, one at the end. Our “body type” discussion prompted me to look for some pictures, and these are what I found to indicate the pertinent issues (not just of body type, but also libidinal psychology, and pelvic structure). They’re concise, and fun. 🙂
2. I re-wrote the concluding paragraph (the one just before the 2nd tank picture), based on your comment
m> I hope many people can/will read this: …
