If liberation interests you, much of it can be facilitated on a moment-by-moment level, simply by being willing to divest yourself of the burden of wanting other people to think youre great. The Tao is great. It stretches in all directions in time and space forever and ever. Thats great. However much you achieve, however good your hair looks, however marvellous you are in whichever respect, compared to the Tao, it doesnt nudge the scale. However, as an expression of the Tao, as a manifestation of its ineffable power, you are great the greatest but only as that. Your uniqueness is a unique expression of the Tao. Your prowess in the fields in which you excel, is an expression of the Tao. Your beauty is an expression of the Tao. Even your hairstyle is an expression of the Tao.
Same goes for everyone you know and everyone you see, whether in real life or on a screen. Whats great is the Tao informing us. Knowing this, you no longer need carry the burden of wanting others to think youre great. If they cant see the Tao in you and the greatness that bestows, it simply means they cant see it in themselves and is no reflection on your own worth. Conversely if they do think youre great, merely judging by surface appearance, theyre deluded and their opinion is without merit.
In fact, the only way to realise your greatness, as an expression of the Tao, is to forego your desire to be thought of as great. Seek only to be ordinary and desire that everyone thinks the Tao is great instead, for in that way lies the path to universal transformation.
Have a great day (and night).
Love, Doc
