Perspective – spans of time

Obviously inner alchemy requires and assists with an expanded perspective. All levels of Kan&Li and Star Alchemy involve dissolving ‘false’ yin/yang in the central cauldron and allowing birth of new. Ancestral and karmic patterns of energy are grist for the mill. Planetary cycles are part of the matrix – carrying the impressions; seeds and fruits of past. A current cycle is the retrograde of Mars which began mid November 07 – and Mars is now approaching its direct station (turning point) at 24 Gemini, on 30 January. Mars is on that degree now. Mars in its geocentric expression, how we experience that principle on earth (IMO inner alchemey takes it up to a heliocentric level, a more essential, elemental level for purification)has a lot to do with patterns of wilful desire, and yang aspect of sexuality. This Mars cycle belongs to a larger set. Here’s what one astrologer (link below) says:

“Far more interesting is the 205-year pattern formed by Mars retrograde or direct station points at nearly identical positions and dates. All Mars retrograde stations repeat at a 205-year cycle. Currently the November 15 Mars retrograde occurred at 12° Cancer 26′. Looking back 205 years, Mars turned retrograde on November 15, 1802 at 12° Cancer 28′. Back another 205 years Mars stationed at 12° Cancer 20′ on November 14, 1597, and so on, looking back at 205 year intervals. Each repeat has its accompanying direct at 23°-24° Gemini on Jan 30-31, in the years 1598, 1803, 2008.
In 1802 Thomas Jefferson was the US president. Napoleon was headed to become the Emperor of France in anther two years but in 1802 he was made consul for life. What was called “a practical steamship” surpassed older models with the invention of a stern propeller. This newer steamship transported passengers and goods well into the second half of the twentieth century, until diesel replaced steam and with it our polluting ways were established.”

From an inner alchemy viewpoint this Mars retro period and forward station might be activating patterns which have their origins with ancestors, bloodlines. More than ‘usual’. Add to this – that Pluto is about to move into Capricorn and there is plenty of grist to handle – which means plenty of new energy (and substance) once the old has been transformed. For me this is good to know – to understand why the need to spend so long each day with practice. It’s appropriate. It depends on whether these astro events hit off natal positions – they do for me. May not be so important for others.

Pluto always gets my attention – planet or not – corresponds to deep earth centre in Greatest kan&li needing to be balanced with inner sun, compassionate heart of humanity. Pluto = hades, the cooking fires. Pluto to Capricorn – big cooking!
