“Angels are descending and the spirit (ar-ruh) with kulli amr, from every direction. Like a sphere, as you described it, from every direction it is coming.
It means this whole universe that Allah swt created before it was coming up to appearance, He was as the Prophet (s) said, the first thing that Allah created is my light and he dumped it in the ocean of power.
The ocean of power is Laylat al-Qadr.”February 1, 2009 at 1:08 pm #30411Michael WinnKeymasterSufi 8 Circuits? Do you think these guys got some of Leary’s LSD? Or is this the straight stuff?

I sent a post through a while back about psychedelics in ISLAM, but I am suggesting here that more than a circuit 7 tribal system is at work..
on the one hand, at least some of the mystery systems in the West have passed down the tree of life and corresponding astral practices..
so I am saying more than just a being an event within original ramadan, the night of power is, IMHO, a spatio temporal microcosm of original creation…
so big question to me is what the sufis are teaching and how long it has been around.. this system is apparently half hindu… but certainly others have been keeping track?
wondering what your thoughts on it are?

I wondered if youd be interested in an exchange on forum http://www.grahamhancock.com/phorum and the reply of author Robert Bauval:
My posting:
page 7 of The Egypt Code star Al Kaid in the Big Dipper marking the rising of Sirius in the East. Al Kaid is the most eastern (leftmost) star in the Big Dipper (Plough) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eta_Ursae_Majoris ).
That name is very much like that of a certain organisation much in the news in recent years. Wonder if that was its origin.Reply:
The name ‘Al Kaid’ is from the Arabic, meaning the Chief or Leader. Many of the ‘star names’ used today are from Arabic sources viz. Betelgeuse (Beit el Agouza: The house of the old one); Rigel (Re’gl : the leg) etc..
The organization Al Kaida has derived its name from the same Arabic word, and it roughly translates as ‘She (the organization) Which Leads’.
Best
RBResult – it seems the name of the lead star of the dipper (plough) has been used for a very long time as a ‘leader’.

for one thing, you are talking about aeons old stories of creation, which, in what humans would call poetic metaphor, are expressing what is here seen as a divine and direct encounter with spiritual gnosis…
as in, what if you could feel, for just a few moments, the aeons of creation unfolding, and so you said,
on the seventh day, the creator rested
this does not mean 7 earth days, it does mean anything other than seven stages, perhaps even that as metaphor, and it never did…
but if you can for one brief moment “understand” the essence, the meaning, which is brought into myth, of a direct cognition of the divine infinitudes of creation
then you can begin to grasp it’s conveyance as story…
February 4, 2009 at 2:01 pm #30419Michael WinnKeymastersufism is pretty young (I recall), well after Islam, whichis also young, I htink 8th cen.
But if you want to get into Islamic esotericism, as a Westerner, you’ll probably want to read Rene Guenon works.

February 4, 2009 at 10:37 pm #30421DogParticipantThanks for the recommendation he has an interesting Taoist/Sufi book. http://www.amazon.com/Insights-Islamic-Esoterism-Taoism-Collected/dp/090058825X/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1233808157&sr=1-6
I personally feel Sufi is hiding in Islam.
