Hi, I have been practising microcosmic orbit for a quite long time and found it wonderful exercise. But because of my wandering mind , I still spend most of the time in my dan tien. Hovever Recently (1.5 week ago) I started to feel that when I focus on my dan tien then my soles started to getting warm, or even hot. And this draw away my focus from dan tien to the soles. Eventualy I can make both soels an dan tien warm but sooner or later, soles are so warm that my mind goes there. So this a problem for me us it makes my practise very difficult. I’m dressed quite warm but not too warm . I used to wear a shoes but after it all stared I just keep my feets on blanket. I will be grateful for any advice related to that issue.
Best Regards,

Probably the first time it happened it was because
your shoes were too tight and the increased blood flow
warmed your feet, and now because it happened you
think about it during practice and it directs qi and blood
flow there. Of course, I have no way of actually knowing
since it is your body, but this would be my guess. The bottom line in the whole thing, in my opinion, is that
your practice is too mental I think. Not body-centered
enough. You even mention this (that you have a lot of
problems with your mind getting in the way of practice). Therefore, my suggestion is to shift your practice (or
at the very least, add on to your practice beforehand)
a fair amount of body-centered qigong.A good suggestion is to learn and/or practice
Michael Winn’s Orbit Qigong Form. It’s a good way to
get the orbit flowing through body, and doing so
by body-oriented qigong movements rather than
by sitting still in meditation. So my recommendation is to practice his Orbit Form,
then sit and let the orbit flow. You can still
do a seated orbit meditation–say Michael’s Wudang Orbit,
but in your case I’d recommend doing the qigong first–as
your probably too much of a mental type.My best to you,

the Qigong Fundamentals 3-4 Workshop in Asheville, NC
this weekend. The material in that course is excellent
for helping you really get into your body and out
of your head. You might consider it if you are free. SDecember 7, 2009 at 3:20 am #32773wandererParticipantThanks for your answer
