I remember watching the original video many years ago, this is sort of an updated version of what I remember watching.
Had anybody ever heard of this guy?
August 30, 2010 at 1:07 am #35254StevenModeratorHi Damon,
That’s John Chang.
There’s a book about him called “The Magus of Java” (see link).
It is a fun and entertaining read. His methods are a simplified fire-oriented yin-yang alchemy,
and are quite dangerous to learn. Not recommended.
But the book is fun to read nonetheless.Steven

Thanks,

In his system, you progress through certain “levels”.
“Level 1” of his system seems pretty harmless enough; basically
you just spend a year or so meditating on your dantian . . .BUT, according to John Chang’s own words about when you progress
from Level 3 to Level 4, the meditation is supposedly extremely
and excruciatingly painful to your body, and that it is not
something that everyone can endure. It is this transition that is
purported to allow the practitioner to emit the powerful “qi lightning”.Also, I have heard (rumored, unverified) that a number of his students,
including the author of the book, have developed cancer,
possibly as the result of doing these extreme practices. This latter bit I haven’t personally verified, but coupled with
John Chang’s own admission about the stress that the system puts the
body under, it makes me feel the system may not be wise (personal opinion).S

Thanks for the info, I was not aware that a book on him was written. I will definitely pick up a copy.
At most these demonstrations are inspirational for me on my current course of practice but I don’t feel that this fire method is for me in this life. And by its very nature I could see it being dangerous to mess with.
It would be interesting to understand these different qi practices as singing ocean has stated.

Somehow symptomatic is what comes to John Chang’s described daily habits, that he is quite ordinary man enjoying cigars and tasty Chinese food (though sometimes also something from Thai kitchen) etc.
I mean I’m still thinking Anneliese Michel, this possessed German girl.
Pattern seem to be that ‘saints’ are getting demons after themselves. It’s better to take care that one sins enough.
