I’m not Catholic, and while I was raised Christian, I am not so today.
However,I really like this new pope. This guy really gets it.He is open-minded about liberal social values, such as contraception, homosexuality, etc. These are qualities that support love, rather than judgment. Moreover, he wants to redirect the church’s attention to helping the poor and the needy. To me, in total, it shows the true spirit of love, and really what God/Source is all about.
To be honest, I think he really embodies the true spirit of Christ.
I have been most impressed by him, I have to say.See article:

Born Gerbert d’Aurillac (Gerbert of Aurillac), he was a prolific scholar and teacher. He endorsed and promoted study of Arab/Greco-Roman arithmetic, mathematics, and astronomy, reintroducing to Europe the abacus and armillary sphere, which had been lost to Europe since the end of the Greco-Roman era. He is said to be the first to introduce in Europe the decimal numeral system using the Arabic numerals after his studies at the University of al-Karaouine in Morocco. He was the first French Pope.

It turns out that snakes’ venom glands have co-opted many proteins that originally played more mundane roles elsewhere in their bodies. This constant innovation was needed to help them stay ahead of the animals they eat, which tend to develop resistance to particular venoms over time.

What is this darkness? Simply put, it is our inability to see what we have thrust aside. The darkness is our own.
-MISHLEN LINDEN, Typhonian Teratomas-The Shadows of the AbyssHunger artists or starvation artists were performers, common in Europe and America in the 18th, 19th and early 20th century, who starved themselves for extended periods of time, for the amusement of paying audiences. The phenomenon first appeared in the 17th century and saw its heyday in the 1880s. Hunger artists were almost always male, traveled from city to city and performed widely advertised fasts of up to 40 days.

A bisexual, recreational drug user and self-styled prophet, he shaved his head bald, filed his incisors into points and invented a new religion, which he called Thelema, the libertinist tenets of which had been revealed to him by preternatural intelligences in 1904. He transcribed their message into his sacred text The Book Of The Law , and subsequently appointed himself Outer Head of the Order of the Ordo Templi Orientis (OTO), a movement thought to have begun in Germany towards the end of the 19th century which Crowley remodelled around his new religion.

And that was how the insidious question emerged: “And Jesus, then? He was a Jew. Yet he dies young, has no interest in money and thinks only about the Kingdom of Heaven….”
-UMBERTO ECO, The Prague CemetaryIn my opinion somebody like Anton Szandor LaVey would be much better as a pope for ordinary sinners, because there is no hypocrisy and he’s not too extreme or dangerous like for example Adolfo de Jesus Constanzo, if we think real satanists.
LaVey is immediately totally sensual and this wordly when Catholic Church has great amount superstitions, which nobody can prove.
But for religious purposes certain type of living is necessary. Here I would personally choose primarily Trappists and Jesuits, but also Opus Dei would be good in certain conditions as a religious ‘invisibility cloak.’
What comes to being liberal that’s something which is extremely rare.

Ps. There is quite much misinformation about l’Abbé Boullan available. For example in the video below even the portrait is wrong, because person there is Jean Bricaud. For Eugène Vintras picture is right. Sorry for my broken English.
