I’ve been dabbling in the idea of Fusion 1 practice for quite some time now, and some of you may recall the Fusion thread I started a while back, after reading the Chia book. I picked up Marie Favorito’s Fusion 1 and 2 CD last summer and began practicing it sporadically. After a couple months I started to build what I would consider a Michael Winn Fusion 1 hybrid practice. To those ends, I have a few questions and comments about the basic Fusion practice, and ask for input on what I have developed for a “MW Fusion.”
Basic Fusion:
– Marie does some energy warmups, including chanting the to the 8 directions (or whatever). I prefer to cut out the chanting, and have my own energetic warmup (see below).
– She says to put your hands on your dantian instead of having them clasped on your lap. I assume this could be done either way? I switch back and forth but don’t see much of a difference, and sort of prefer them on my dantian.
– At the beginning of each organ, she does the healing sound three times prior to creating the pearls. I assume that if we do either 5 animals or sitting 6 healing sounds that this step is unnecessary.
– I am curious about the 4 baguas in the front, back and sides. It seems like the front bagua is doing the bulk of the “work,” and I’m not sure what the significance of the other three baguas is. Regardless, after drawing the energy into the front bagua, I then sequentially draw them into the back, and the both sides at the same time (for each pearl), followed by spinning them all at the same time and drawing them into the center pearl prior to circulating in the orbit. Perhaps someone can give me some feedback on this method.MW Fusion Session:
– Start with qigong warmups – shaking, tossing the sick chi, ocean breathing.
– 5 Animals do the 6 Healing Sounds before or after a “quick” standing inner smile.
– Spiral Love in Creation Cycle (aka Nourishing the 5 Shen) qigong. After each organ, I form the pearl bringing in both the organ energy as well as the color. To me, this basically begins the fusion process and I skip this step later.
– Once the “spiral” session is complete, I begin my sitting session by focusing on bringing in the positive virtues of each organ/pearl. After each one, I draw it into the front bagua before moving on to the next one. I then follow the bagua sequence described above (in creation cycle) the circulate the pearl in the orbit.
– After circulating a few times I gather the energy back into the pearl and begin the “basic” fusion described above for the negative/controlling cycle.
– Once I have circulated in the orbit for a while, I gather the energy in my dantian and spiral it as indicated (36 cw/24 ccw).
– Close with chi self massage. The biggest difference I have noticed between the positive/creation and the negative/controlling cycle fusion, is that when I circulate the negative pearl it seems cooler, more powerful and more cleansing. On the other hand the positive cycle is warmer and more typical, like it is similar to the feel of a normal orbit. Besides that, I’d like feedback on my MW fusion and any advice that anybody would like to provide. Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you!

I also wanted to note that I feel I have some engrained negative emotions that have some work to do, and those areas tend to be more powerful, sometimes leading to shaking while drawing them into the organ and pearl, and even shaking during the orbit. I always find the involuntary shaking to be very cleansing and just allow it to happen.

Regardless of which technique you use, the ultimate test is whether or not you are getting results . . . and you seem be achieving that.
Keep it up!

January 19, 2015 at 9:45 am #43735StevenModeratorSorry Jeff, I simply don’t have time.
As I mentioned to RichieRich above, the volume of folks via email and other means that ask me for detailed answers on Healing Tao topics has increased to the point where I simply do not have the time. If you saw how many folks are contacting me on a daily basis, you’d understand.Otherwise, if you feel you really want detailed feedback, you can contact me for private lessons either live ($75/hr) or via video Skype chat ($50/hr), and I can set aside some dedicated time for you. Contact me at steven@spiritualtao.com for details on either option. Please put an obvious header on such an email because I really get a phenomenal amount of email from Healing Tao folks–either students or other faculty as a result of my being Vice-President of the Healing Tao Instructors Association.
Thanks,

You are always so willing to share your wisdom that it must get exhausting. It’s understanding why people come to you for advice, and it is even more understanding why you are not able to continue to provide answers for everything. It’s been nice to have a open spigot, but the water doesn’t always just flow freely… At any rate, thanks for all the advice you have provided in the past!
January 19, 2015 at 9:23 pm #43739StevenModeratorNo problem and thank you for your kind words. Just keep practicing. 🙂
The fact that you are making progress speaks for itself.
Hope to see you someday.Qi,
