    I feel good – so what ?

Healing Dao does work to clear out your emotions and all that childhood stuff that has been lurking around.

And after it is cleared out … I wonder : what was the point of it ? Years of pain. And now push a few buttons and it’s all gone. Great.

Was there a reason ? Was something learnt ? Is someone amused ?

It’s just distrust, a deeper level of emotion now coming up after the clearout, that’s all.

And then you clear that out and walk around ‘feeling good’. So what ?

Is someone amused by these games ? Feel good, feel bad. Misery, excitement.

Taking a step back it’s like being in some crazy machine, push one button for misery, and another to ‘feel good’.

That’s why I do more meditation that chikung … chikung is just practical to deal with human life … but I don’t see a future in being in a crazy machine; I would like to leave.

    This is a great question.
Despair over the meaning of cultivating Qi can easily arise unless it is connected to what Taoists call De (or Te, as in Tao Te Ching).

De I translate as Integrity or Inner Spiritual Power (vs. common translation of De as Virtue).

De is what gives meaning, mission, and value to Qi cultivation. Otherwise, cultivating qi can be just like superficial feng shui practitioners who move the furniture around to improve Qi flow in a room. OK, Qi is flowing better, now what? What do I do with my life?

I go more deeply into De as a soul issue, which is cultivated directly in the Kan & Li levels. Everything prior, including Fusion, is just re-arranging your internal feng shui so the path is clear for deeper work.

There is a famous mountain called the Eiger in the Alps. For years the north face, the Nordwand, was known as “Mordwand” (wall of death) as many famous climbers of the era died on it and hung frozen to the face until the spring thaw when they fell thousands of feet, long dead, to smash into the ground.

The way they had tried to climb was the old way. Security the whole way. They planned 7 day climbs, bringing everything even the kitchen sink. After the first day about 25% of the way up, they camped and had a nice pot roast on the fireplace, and a nice sleep before day 2. And so on. Safety the whole way up.

Problem is that during the first evening a nice avalanche came down the north face and killed everyone.

This “strategy” carried for quite some time, with many famous disasters and mass deaths.

Today I believe the record is 17 hours up AND down. The men who climb take nothing. They never stop. Travel light, fast, lean. The concept of resting has been erased.

    So … what’s the message ?

The message is in every step try to touch the top. If not you are planning to fail. How can you do anything without the end in mind ?

Many ‘spiritual’ people always consider themselves beginners, or would like to take their time … they don’t realise where they are, or they would travel light, fast, lean … and try to get to the top tonight.

Not many make it, you know.

Great story..I used to teach in Switzerland, with the Eiger in full view.

The problem I find with spiritual scaling of the wall or “sudden enlightenment” – a well known buddhist approach – is that it doesn’t work if you want to achieve immortality. You goose your shen to expand to cosmic levels….but your jing is stuck back on earth.

It’s like watching a TV show. You see to the far ends of the astral plane, and then click. A small light disappearing in the center of the TV screen. Show is over. What do you have to show for it? Vanishing memory. Yin Body. You didn’t really get anywhere, just in your head. Head Enlightenment.

The problems of the Humanity have been around for a long, long, time. The solutions are multi-dimensional. It takes time to integrate and navigate with ALL your subtle bodies. Good time to re-read the Tortoise and the Hare. That’s why Taoists seek longevity – they want time to get it right. They claim there are very few Buddhist immortals in the highest heavens. 🙂

I am mainly a student of meditation with Anadi, but I use the tools from Michael Winn, BKF, and Gurdjieff also.

    Explosive Realisations
When you talk about this kind of sudden enlightenment, I assume it is the Indian kind when the energy flies up the spine and explodes out of the top of the skull. This kind of thing is very popular with some people. One thing I would say is that in the East enlightenment has been understood as being impersonal, leaving nothing. There is only Brahman. And so if you die on the way it is not a problem. Their concepts did not include the personal realisation within Brahman.
A second problem with this approach is that it is using tools, you use one tool to get another thing. There is no real awakeness in it. I will do A, and then get B.

    Qigong
I have only been practicing for about a year, so have limited understanding. There seems to be a large amount of interesting eclectic tools, taught by many different teachers in different ways, and whether it can all be called Taoism I doubt. Lao tse was fond of just sitting like an immobile rock on the Earth.
What I see again is the tools approach. You do A, and then get B. You do 5 Animals, and expel negative emotions. You do Bone Breathing, and clean the blood.
It is a wonderful technology, very natural and easy, not too conceptualised, and I find it a life saver which is why I use it a lot. But again there is a tools approach.

    Pointing Out
What I really was referring to was something that several teachers have been able to do and that the Buddhists called Pointing Out. This is when a teacher sits in front of you and Points Out the part of your consciousness that is The Light. They show you experientially within yourself. Sitting in front of you they enter your consciousness and help you to feel the access to the Light that you have, so you can feel it yourself.

It is quite subtle because for most people it is very very small and subtle, but nevertheless there. Not many teachers can do this, or can do it clearly. But still a few can.
And once you feel it, then it’s game over. You can then simply merge/enter/grow into the Light. You have a relationship with the Truth directly, and that is the entire practice. It takes many years to grow this relationship, but you are already home. You are touching the other side in every step you walk.
There is no A to get B.
Because you are in relation with the Light. And as long as you maintain / deepen that relationship, you are home. And the Light enters you as you enter it, creating the Soul within the Universal.

The Universe is very big and subtle. Big on the outside and big on the inside, with many beings, powers, traditions. There truly are an incredible number of tools technology and teachings that can intertwine you with these powers, Qigong has many. Who knows what you can make of yourself.

The direct relationship of the Light, has far more to do with surrender. You grow also, but grow within surrender.

    Different things attract different souls.
