Hey folks,
Thought I’d give you a heads up on what I’m bringing tomorrow night, as a friend of mine wisely noted that people generally find mushroom brews from strangers to be very appetizing. Hehe, a very valid point.
Chaga, or Inonotus obliques, is a mushroom that has been used in Russian folk medicine for ages. Though it was not well known in China (depending on whom you ask), it seems to be a Jing tonic, so I thought it appropriate for the Solstice.
It is the 2nd highest source of antioxidants, including the wonderful superoxide dismutase, or SOD, and has many other valuable nutrients, phytonutrients, minerals, etc.
There is anecdotal evidence that the top Shaolin herbalists consider it to be one of their key herbs, along with reishi (see interview between David Wolfe and Ron Teeguarden; skip to minute 38 of the interview for reference).
“If there’s anybody out there who isn’t putting Chaga and Reishi in their body every day, they’re making a mistake…” – Ron Teeguarden

The tea I’m bringing is made from two ingredients:
1) Chaga I harvested from a pristine birch forest in the Blue Ridge Mountains, from trees that “energetically” welcomed my harvesting them.
2) Spring water gathered a few weeks ago from God’s Acre Healing Springs, in South Carolina. The spring was thanked for its gift when we gathered it.
I’ve been drinking this same tea for years with wonderful results.
Anyways, no pressure to partake, but it’s a wonderful drink (with a little milk, it’s similar to coffee) and I hope you enjoy.

I have overflowing thankfulness for your generous spirit, Michael. The ceremony was wonderful and being in your home was a blessing.
I feel like the year ahead of me is already born, that my future lies waiting – vital and blazing.
The next day I went home and initiated my own freeform concert with my 2 year old son 🙂 He loved it, of course, haha.
