Michael,
You said that Master Chu’s methods are a combination of Zen and
Taoist techniques and Im wondering why he does not mention this in his
book. In his book he states these methods are Taoist, I also emailed
his office asking wether his techniques were Water & Fire or Water.
In the reply I was told they were neither and that if I need more insight into his teachings I should read the Tao Te Ching. So are they many different schools of Taoist Meditation eg, Water,Water and Fire etc etc..DC

just a thought

Why old books should be used to understand principles but not necessarily methods – that may no longer be applicable in current cycle of collective human experience.

I was merely defining that he is not teaching a pure form of alchemical taoism. I am not his student and don’t know with any depth what he teaches – just that he is a martial artist making the transition to meditative artist.

“Awaken Healing Energy through the Tao” and I was very dissapointed with
the instructions in that book. I found it extremely hard to follow and confusing, thats why I went back to Chu’s simple meditation.
My question is which one of your products is going to be the best for me
to start with?, I get up at 5am every morning and sit for 1/2 an hour and enjoy seated meditation, Im looking for clear and easy methods to follow..DC

i know most people would recommend the six healing sounds to start with. i found doing lots of core channel work was essential though and since i’ve shifted my practice in that direction it’s really taken off. it’s the trunk of the tree, so to speak, with the roots. then go to six healing sounds.
May 20, 2005 at 11:08 pm #5799DCParticipantCan you learn the orbit from the Chi Kung Fundamentals 2 Audio CD, at the moment my funds only allow for one purchase.
May 21, 2005 at 5:24 am #5801Michael WinnKeymasterMost people do find the healng sounds and animals open chi flow more quickly than going straight to orbit, which I generally don’t recommend.
Awaken Healing Energy was simple earlier book, Awaken Healing Lght was way over-complicated (against my editorial advice).Although I put out what I consider the best training sequence for progressive opening of the channels and shen relationships, each person is unique and may respond differently or progress better to a different practice that grounds them or otherwise turns their clock.
The first movement in the Open Chi Flow in the Orbit form is same as Five Animals: Ocean Chi Breathing, designed to pulsate the dantian. I would do lots of that, followed by inner smile sitting practice to dissolve internal tension and get to know your insides better. Once the dantian is open, you have internal source of chi and orbit can open naturally. Never push it from the head.
The CD fpr Day 2 have very different info than the DVD, but I think you need the DVD to get the qigong form. Its a discounted package, save your money and get both.
