What is the connection between pain and enlightenment?
How neccessary an ingredient? For some people the pain of losing a loved one has acted as an ultimate wake up call. Others have found enlighenment only in their darkest near suicidal hour.
And am I thinking of a ‘head first’ enlightenment where the mind clashes against itself, ripping the ego to shreds. Is the Taoist way ‘body first’ increased energy ripping through the body’s circuits returning it back to its original state?
???
Peace
Michael

Personally, after witnessing my wife (Joyce Gayheart) and her journey through a profound ocean of pain after a car accident and years of self-healing, i consider her far more whole body-enlightened than me. I hate pain, which means I am unable to hold neutral state towards it. Instead I heal it quickly – using qi skills. But its not the same level of awareness-beyond-pain. I never had to heal her level of pain. She healed herself from three major accidents.
it is one reason she is such an amazingly good teacher.
If you want to read an interesting book that features Joyce’s life story,
get Under One Sky by Rafael Nasser (order it from my office at 888 999 0555 or from Seven Paws Press, not on amazon).Under One Sky is 12 astrologers- very prominent ones, from 12 different schools, who Rafi had read Joyce’s chart blindly, i.e. no meeting with her or knowledge of who she was, not even her real name.
Each astrologer tells how they read her chart, their views on destiny & fate,
and gives a detailed reading on how her life should have unfolded.Independent of their readings, Joyce wrote a 45 page capsule description of her life journey (with exact dates for astrologers to later use).
4 of the readings were considered by joyce to be close or dead on.
4 were mixed.
4 were off. This is a unique and objective exploration of the “karma” issue (the Big Dog sitting in plato’s otherwise occupied lap). And the only valid study of whether astrology works that I know of.

Thanks

Pain is an awesome, powerful, communication tool that our body and Unconscious uses to let us know that something is going on – and we really should do something about it;0).
btw Did you notice the word ‘light ‘ in enlightenment
It’s just like how in comic books a character would Realize something and a lightbulb would be drawn above his head:0)
when i look back on my life i’ve had a series of little and not so little Realizations that have made things more clearer and easier.
I always think that life is a test and the objective is to pass.
Guess who the teacher is…..)
peace and smiles

They would also have to be old enough to have lived long enough to go through some life passages like marriage, kids, and divorce. Ideally these people would be of different races and backgrounds (some Jews, some Hindus, Chinese, etc.).
