I don’t think that studying ancient texts is necessarily impractical atavism, but I personally prefer The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.
That Matteo Ricci video above was of course mainly Christian propaganda; they seem to be very similar everywhere.
But the the practice of memory palace is interesting also here.
