Hi rideforever,
I agree with you that certain cardiovascular and strengthening components are needed. Many overlook this aspect . . .
If you enjoy the Taebo/Dance workouts/circuit training, I see no reason why you can’t continue doing that. Do what you enjoy. Unless you are only doing those things because you don’t know what else to do,…[Read more]

Tao Yin is a collection of floor-based exercises.
Imagine yoga, but more flowing and like qigong.Best beginning resource is Karin Sörvik’s Tao Yin DVD, found here:
Tao Yin DVDIt is a cheap, yet excellent, product.
As you are presumably outside the US (judging by your comments in metric), shipping may be different and you might need…[Read more]

Nice theory.
Except that it sort of considers things from the perspective that only the self is real and other individuals in the world are merely parts of your own dream. It’s very narcissistic to assume that only you–the self–is the only real soul.Unless every other individual just happens to be having and sharing the same dream and…[Read more]

Hi RichieRich,
The volume of questions and the amount of time to discuss even one of them, means that to adequately answer your 3 posts would amount to writing an epic longer than Homer’s Odyssey. 🙂
P.S. I trust that based on prior forum discussions and the 8 hours of privates we did this summer, that you know I’m telling the truth.…[Read more]

If I were to answer the question the way you’d like, I’d probably say things like “stay away from and cut out all simple sugar from your diet”.
By the way, eating more fruit is not the solution. Fruit has a lot of fruit sugar in it and is only one step away from “candy with vitamins and fiber”. Fruit should be more like a spice in a daily…[Read more]

I agree with russeln’s post.
Drug-induced experiences of enhanced awareness are themselves unlikely to stick (in any long-term sense), because there isn’t sufficient grounding in the body. It’s like when you wake from a dream, you have a memory that deteriorates and fades with time. As with a dream (for the most part) . . . in a very short…[Read more]

Steven replied to the topic Smile mask syndrome and inner smile in the forum Practice 9 years, 3 months ago
When people repeatedly smile externally, but when it doesn’t match the internal feeling . . . well, to the body, it feels like a lie. Thus each such smile is a subtle self-message that reminds them that they are not living authentically. Hence the inner friction and turmoil, amplification of depression, and physical illnesses.
If a person…[Read more]

In brief:
No. It’s the bathing sequence between sun and earth in the middle of the form that is most potent for these type of issues. It’s too long to get into a whole protocol here, but for starters I’d recommend some standing meditation, preferably rooted (ala Iron Shirt 1), along with the superjuice supplement “Goji 100”, to build up the kidneys. The latter of which Michael sells on his website.
These alone will not likely completely solve the problem, as there are many…[Read more]

Your school looks wonderful.
I suspect many haven’t asked any questions because they probably already feel like they have so much material in the Healing Tao, that there isn’t much drive to add on additional material outside of it, even if it is excellent.
If you wanted to start a discussion, maybe you could start by giving a brief overview…[Read more]

According to the article I just posted, apparently “left side” is best.
However, I’ve seen other comments by folks apart from that article saying that left side creates extra pressure on the heart, and THEY recommend the right side . . .Of course, sleeping on either side causes a lot of compression on the shoulders and chest, and honestly,…[Read more]

Steven replied to the topic Q for Tao Gurus: would interspecies hominoid mating wall off the Spirit? in the forum General 9 years, 3 months ago
Is this something you are considering?
In all seriousness, animals can not consent to sexual activity, which is what we as humans expect in our interactions due to respect to each other’s free will. It’s what distinguishes us from animals: we demand consent. So effectively interspecies mating is a form of rape, and rape where the recipient…[Read more]

Interesting article.
He definitely has a more mature view than most, especially with respect to maintaining one’s own free will, charting ones’ own destiny, and cutting off vampiric influences. The only problem I have with his approach is there is too much bias against this manifest universe. I.E. A little too much: “Oversoul=bad, but Tai…[Read more]

“Medical qigong” is a loaded phrase.
IN GENERAL: it simply means any qigong that benefits your physical health. Since all qigong fits that bill, it is then only a question as to which types benefit physical health the most. To have a truly valuable system, it should be comprehensive and inexpensive. Thus, Healing Tao fits the bill.

It can. Especially if you are quite ill–physically or emotionally.

Daoists love the lifeforce and consider it its ally for personal growth.
If you consider it a “bastard” or something to avoid being “seduced by”, then you are really on a completely different path . . . not really resonant with the views we promote here.Best wishes to your path . . . S
