Hi Keith, I wanted to ask you a question about the sacrum squeeze.
First, thanks for introducing me to it. It has been a great help in alleviating/integrating some major arousal, which has been sky high as of late. Especially ’cause latelly I’ve been working as the only male in a room full of females. All that female energy me stirs.
I wonder, after the sacrum has pulsated, in order to continue the process further up the lumbar, do you:
a) focus on each seperate lumbar with successive breaths?
b) draw it up from the sacrum during the one exhale, and then progress further up while on the same exhale?
c) no question here, just wanted to make this look like multiple choice.
Aside from integrating excess arousal into the bones, it seems that this technique has some deeper implications that I’m not able to articulate.
Perhaps, a deeper feeling of the denser, more unconcious ‘backside’ of my body.
Much to explore.
Thanks.

Um…………I should proof read my posts BEFORE I submit. Duh.February 10, 2006 at 10:01 am #10301TrunkParticipantMat,

By “continue the process”, I’m assuming that you’re talking about continuing the sacrum-squeeze method on up the spine. That is, flexing one’s muscles gently around the vertebral bodies at the bottom of the exhale.
This, surprisingly, can be done all the way up the spine. Starts with the sacrum. After you get the knack of that, work with the lumbar region. After comfortable with that, work your way further up.
Ok, to your ?s:
> a) focus on each seperate lumbar with successive breaths? >I wouldn’t worry about getting each seperate lumbar. Unlikely that you can feel each one seperately, at least I haven’t. Just focus on some reasonably short length of spine, that’s what I mean when I say “segments” in the essay. Might be a couple of inches or so, and this is just an approximation. You just want to focus your attention and your flex in short little bits. If you squeeze a little more or less than you intend, that’s fine. But without some sort of focus, you won’t be able to get to the muscles.
I use the phrase “contiguous segments”. So, that means, after you’ve squeezed some little length, then squeeze a little length that is just above that. Don’t leave gaps.
> b) draw it up from the sacrum during the one exhale, and then progress further up while on the same exhale? >
I find, with this method, that a little rest is nice now and then. Like, after I get the sacrum pulsing, I like to leave it alone for a little while. In the beginning, I felt I should leave it alone to process for a day or more. As my body has become more accustomed to the process, I still feel I want to wait at least a few breaths before I move further up the spine. So, its up to you, based on what feels good for you. Days, hours, minutes, breaths. One breath per squeeze seems excessive to me, for this method.
Another method, Spinal Breathing, from the AYP website, is helpful. That one is just breathing up and down the spine, and is pretty easy to do throughout the day. Its a good complement to the squeezing stuff.

Yup, the “heavy portion of jing” gets drawn into the stack of vertebral bodies.
Ke.. uh, Trunk. 😉

No, I wasn’t thinking of integrating them as one process. (And, off hand, can’t thing of you would.)
Its just that, if you’re sitting in an office its pretty easy and non-distracting to do spinal breathing. (Vs the squeeze.) And its something you can do kind of all day, helps integrate the spine further. Their effects complement each other.
