In Greek mythology, Mentor was the counselor and surrogate father to Telemachus while his father, Odysseus, was away. Mentor was key to Telemachus’ growth by guiding, educating, and protecting him, introducing him to influential leaders, and teaching him valuable leadership skills. Mentor’s role in shaping the character and philosophy of Telemachus in his childhood is not unlike the challenges and responsibilities faced today in the World in general.
I think in our digital age we have lost the value of qualified Mentor’s, Master etc.., many practices should be practiced under qualified supervision, Energetic practices would be definetley one of them. I think some take for granted that books dvd, cd’s & even online expierences be the source for their learning; they should not be viewed as learning clearly; they are only a snap shot view of one moment in time, and are for review purposes.
In a perfect world it would be nice to have a great teacher in every city, I practice with a group of 12 people same one’s for eons’s we all came from awareness style practices and integrated these arts slowly, learning step by step (and still learning each and every day), we are be no means Guru practitioners, but we stay focused and are very serious. This is rare & I have seen and been in complete diseasters.
I do feel that all that have worked in presenting Healing Dao practices are safe, and there is modifications, to many of the orginal practices. I also would say that most people live in modern environment with modern problems and most of these practices are designed for spirtual self work and possibly unattainable for them, and probaly they went into it for the wrong reasons.
It is alarmist and so American for teachers to say words like “danger”, causes insanity, are almost like media sensationalism. There are risk in any health activities and have meet many Zhan Zhuanger’s out there that were spiralling down the road of confusion and physical problems from improper instruction or their teacher training them inccorrectly.
Any practice has a equal “risk”, without the proper instruction, and getting back to my original post that Michael answered, I personally found his article (Gunther) interesting just because he has in his bio’s about writing a forward for Master Chia and being their from the beginning , its like wearing two mask.
Hopefully we come to a time and place in our America were we no longer have the Big Frog in the little pond delima and many will be well, aquainted & trained correctly with this path and not fall in the fear of it all.

>>I think some take for granted that books dvd, cd’s & even online expierences be the source for their learning; they should not be viewed as learning clearly; they are only a snap shot view of one moment in time, and are for review purposes.<< My personal dilemma is that here in Melbourne australia, I do not know of any qigong teachers. Well, there are many who claim to be, and also claim to be great masters, but the prices they charge are astronomical. Just the other day I was discusssing this subject with a TCM doctor from China who is also a good friend of mine. I asked him, given his involvement with melbournes' chinese community, and his background in TCM, whether he knows of any qigong masters in melbourne. He said no, there are many making such claims, but they seem to be business men first and foremost, and he would not trust any of them. He also said, "anyway, a TRUE qigong master will not advertise, as he will not be interested in drawing attention to himself" I trust my friend, he is a sincere man and a good friend. SO...........I thought.............where do I find a qigong master in melbourne? Thus far, my only learning has been from Winns' audio and video. I won't go into details, other than to say it has changed my life in only a few months. My pulse has improved as validation of the qigongs' effects. I would LOVE to study with Michael in person, but it's not possible (at least at the moment) given my financial situation. So I will continue to study through video, cautious that, if folllowed slowlly and sequentially, it will be safe. I don't of any other option at the moment.

Sydney is pretty far from here, but the ones you listed are only a little more than an hour drive away, so I’ll get in touch with them.March 9, 2006 at 9:19 am #11036JernejParticipantYou asked for iron shirt cleavages.
Check thoroughly the IS books cover. They tell a lot.
Check for Juan Li drawing of Chia fusion book.
(see link)Shows how it is water only approach packing only. All elements added later but not specified. Basically part of fusion.
Also raising hands above solar may strain heart.
So info is good. By responsibility is still and always one’s own.
