Primordial Wuji Qigong Techniques & Principles

Primordial Wuji Qigong is based on reversing time and Returning to the Source, or Dao. It is based in the tradition of Inner Alchemy of cultivating the Five Elements and transmutations of the Three Treasures: essence (jing), vital energy (qi), and spirit (shen).

The form combines a deep qigong meditation while moving the body gently. The circulating of the hands is like gathering in of universal life-forces. Moving in reverse against the seasons-to the left there is a turning back of time. Energetically, this reversal of time takes you back towards your prenatal or original state-the primordial Qi state of pure health, pure spirit, and undifferentiated unity.
Furthermore, as you perform this form, you are aware that although you may have health problems on one level of your physical self, on a deeper level, the energetic or spirit level, you know you are already healed, whole and united in harmony with nature or Universal Self. In this heightened state of illumination, you absorb the primordial energies deep into your body and mind. Your qi meridians and dan tian fields are filled. Gradually your focus of healing shifts from the physical to the spiritual.

The goal of the universe is to return to nothingness. Nothingness means return. Nothingness is the body of the Dao. Everything is one with nothingness. There aren’t two things in the universe. As you move through the different phases of this exercise, you move towards an understanding, a realization, that the goal is, indeed, to become an immortal, i.e., to return to the body of the Dao.

Part One
Primordial Qigong begins by standing still and facing East.
Next, start opening and closing your hands in front of your Lower Dantian. Gather the Earth energy from your center, which includes all the elements. Qualities of nourishing, supportive, life-giving. Using intention guide Qi to harmonize the Spleen/Stomach. Visualize the Yellow Dragon.
Expand on the open/close to rolling the ball of Qi.
Rolling the ball harmonizes the energies of Heaven and Earth, and absorbs the energy of the four directions.

Invoke the energy of the East-the Spring energy of Wood. Gather the Wood energy from the East. Qualities of new growth, new beginnings, creative energy, expansion. Using intention guide Qi to harmonize the Liver/Gall Bladder. Visualize the Green Dragon.

Turn to the direction of North-the Winter energy of Water. Gather the Water energy from the North. Qualities of flowing and fluidity, as well as dormancy and storing. Using intention guide Qi to harmonize the Kidneys/Bladder. Absorb the black energy of the Black Tortoise.
Turning again, face the West, the Fall energy of Metal. Gather the Metal energy from the West. Qualities of substance, strength, structure, harvest, hardening and condensing. Using intention guide Qi to harmonize the Lungs/Large Intestine. Visualize the white tiger.

Turn last to the South-the Summer energy of Fire. Gather the Fire energy from the South. Qualities of warmth, light, vitality, energetic, luminous and full growth. Using intention guide Qi to harmonize the Heart/Small Intestine. Visualize the Red Phoenix.

Complete the turning back to the East. Become mindful of the endless circle of Life, the endless Universe, and the primordial cosmos-the Dao or Wuji.

Part Two
Open and close the hands in front of the Dantian.
Holding the Qi ball, raise your hands (close to the body), and down (away from body) in a circle.

Meditation:
As you move the water energy-representing Yin, up and the fire energy-representing Yang down, imagine the transformation of these two primordial forces deep in the cauldron of your lower dantian, producing the elixir of immortality. From these two forces, the Three Treasures-jing, qi, and shen are refined and purified into pure essence energy, pure spirit, and ultimately the Dao itself.

Part Three
Return the hands to the Lower Dantian, open/close.
Now, begin turning to the right using the Wuji Palms Face Heaven, Watching Clouds Pass movements, or palms facing earth movements.
Allow yourself to slip further into a deep relaxed qigong state of mind. Transcend the movement, and free your mind of its obstructions and limitations.
Meditation:
Let go of the personality of your small self and associate with your Radiant Self. Flow with the unrestrained Qi of the Universe. Come into harmony of mind, body and spirit. Experience the inner state of complete health and healing. Going deeper with the movements, see that everything is connected in a primordial unity. Open yourself to the mysterious and incomprehensible nature of the Universe. Realize the One. Identify with the One. Cultivate oneness with the primordial purity and the harmony of the Universe.

Part Four
Slowly return to facing East, and transition back to open/close and
very slowly gather in the elixirs of long life and immortality into your lower dantian. Place your hands on your body in the Daoist hand salutation mudra. Hold for a few minutes and think of Nothingness.

Primordial Qigong is symbolic of the immortal dragon chasing after the pearl of immortality. Once found, the dragon ingests the pearl and lives forever in the immortal realms of Primordial nature, flowing endlessly toward the Source.

Stimulates and increases healing energy in the three dantians.
Creates awareness of and sensitivity to qi.
Improves the ability of the dantians to pump vital energies throughout the body.

Opens the Belt meridian which conducts energy around the waist and balances qi of the internal organs.
Connects with the energies of heaven and earth.
Perhaps the most important benefit is the constant emphasis on spiritual transformation and harmony with nature.
