I’ve noticed over and over again that I can build up the level of energy in my physical and energy body (jing, jing Qi, and Qi)only to have the level drop later on in the day.

My question is, where does the energy go?

Does it radiate out to the environment, does it stay inside (imperceptibly) and cause changes, or is there another option?

If it radiates or leaks out, how do you stop it? Michael and Steven have already commented on low periods being the harbinger of change and re-ordering. What do you think?

there is many types of Qi and they have differnt cycles or duration. Wei Qi and Ying/Food Qi flows in cycles of 24-years, you can do qi gong and build qi which can prevent from using wei and ying qi, but if you exercise and push yourself it burns out, lifestyle tells alot about how you manage this Qi. Jing is longer cycles to influence, ateast 3-months to really begin to influence, this is why the 100-day programs famous in qi gong.

    1. It’s leaking out.
From locations that Taoists believe can contribute to leakage . . .
such as Hui Yin (perineum gate), anus, genitals, mouth, etc.

    2. You are spending it externally.
As a consequence of building up energy, you feel better and
more eager to take on the world. You energetically spend your
chi through actively living in it, and do so more energetically because
you have more to give (i.e. if you hadn’t had more energy, you
wouldn’t have been so active and you wouldn’t have put as much chi out
    there)

    3. You are spending it internally.
Various blockages, energetic imbalances, and the like are being
worked on by the new road crew you just hired with the energy
you built up. After the road crew has been paid with the energy,
you are back at square one–energy-wise–although subtle improvements
    have occurred.

    4. Reversion
The energy you built up, returns whence it came.
Similar to when you get a massage and hours later, or maybe a few
days later, your cramped stuff returns. The reason is that
the underlying pattern was too strong to be permanently affected
by the “surficial” change. The underlying pattern, still
present, acted as a road crew to return you to what was before.
In this case, this means that either you need a period of time
of continued training–just like you have to keep telling a
dog over and over again to “stay” until he starts to (i.e.
the pattern starts to change) OR it means that the underlying
pattern is too strong to be affected by the skills you are
employing, and that you need stronger skills–i.e. in your
case, that would be say Kan and Li tools. Although I would
posit that even a really strong pattern can change through
weaker tools if you have the patience and perseverance to
chip away at the dam. Going for stronger tools is really
a matter of patience and increased effectiveness.

Of course, there are a lot of other possibilities also
(such as psychic vampirism), but these are much more unlikely.
In my opinion, in almost all cases, it falls in one or more
    of the above 4 categories.

    Best,
    Steven

thanks Bagua. Now I have a little more insight into the 100 day period.

what kind of Qigong should be done for the 24 year cycle?

Steven thanks for spending the time on your response. You’ve given me a lot to contemplate.

Regarding the leaks I would assume that placing the tongue on the roof of the mouth would slow down that mouth leak source. Can the perineum be closed by the will or does it require squeezing? Is this also true for the genitals and the anus?

You may be right about spending more energy. That has certainly been the case at work. I’ve noticed increased mind capacity, which has allowed me to take on even more design and analysis projects. I may have to reconsider that, for my own progress along the Tao.

Hopefully my internal blockages are being cleared. I know that there are still at least several parts of me that resist fusing. On the positive side since doing Fusion and starting to learn the Healing love practices, my saliva flow has increased. I seem to have heard that this is the upper Dan Tien’s expression of jing.

The prospect of reversion is frustrating to me, but I’m going to continue with the process and not focus as much on the goal. I look forward to the live transmission of Fusion this Spring in Asheville and Healing Love at Heavenly Mountain this summer. I’m definitely very interested in Kan and Li, but that may be too much for me to digest this summer.

    regards

    >>Regarding the leaks I would assume that placing the tongue
    >>on the roof of the mouth would slow down that mouth leak source.
    >>Can the perineum be closed by the will or does it require
    >>squeezing? Is this also true for the genitals and the anus?

If you keep the tongue on the roof of your mouth, it will
help to redirect some stuck energy back into the MO, and it
will help to keep saliva moving–which is considered an elixir
    in its own right.

I wouldn’t recommend doing a continued squeezing for the
perineum/genitals/anus. While these are useful to do in
the context of certain practices to amplify desired effects,
I wouldn’t do this too much. You’ll end up creating a lot
of tension in body which can cause problems in its own right.

Ultimately you want to seal leaks energetically not physically.
Of course, this opens up a whole can of worms of how to do this . . .

We also lose a lot of energy, i.e. leakage, through our sense
organs. This is also worth being aware of, and there are
    techniques for reducing this also.

One simple thing that can be done is to moderate (but not cut off)
sensory input. For instance, too much visual stimulation
affects the liver negatively and acts as an energy drain. Thus,
if you watch a lot of television, cutting back is useful.
Strong visual imagery such as graphic TV violence or pornography
will rapidly drain your energy, so greatly reducing or eliminating
this is a good idea. Too much sound stimulation affects the
kidneys negatively and acts as an energy drain. Thus,
if you spend a lot of your day with an IPOD playing music, then
you’re draining away your energy. Talking too much, i.e.
being a chatterbox, burns up heart energy, etc. Of course,
this does not mean that one should suddenly adopt “monastery-like”
behavior and cut off all outside stimulation, because part of
being in this world is to live in it and fulfill your worldly
destiny, but it does pay to be *moderate* and not stimulate
    yourself to excess.

Of course, at much higher levels of internal alchemy, various
techniques for dealing with energetic leaks of the senses are addressed.
For instance, Star Alchemy (after Greatest Kan and Li), is
also known as “Sealing of the Five Senses”, and some portions
of that level classically are supposedly designed to seal
off energetic leaks from the “five thieves”, i.e. five senses.

That’s probably way more info than you were looking for, so
let me just say this in short: I really wouldn’t worry too
much at this point about energy leaks. Oftentimes the other
three things I mentioned in my list of four play a larger
role. However, it is still useful to be aware that such
leaking can happen, and to use it as a lesson to be more
    moderate in sensory stimulation.

    >>You may be right about spending more energy.
    >>That has certainly been the case at work.
    >>I’ve noticed increased mind capacity, which has allowed
    >>me to take on even more design and analysis projects.
    >>I may have to reconsider that, for my own progress along the Tao.

This is one of the more common things, in my opinion.
There’s nothing necessarily wrong with it either.
If you really enjoy doing design and analysis projects,
why not do more? Again, you want to complete
your worldly destiny as well as your spiritual one. Regardless
of how you acquire more energy, you should use it in
some way–either to be more vital in the world or to
channel it into spiritual work–otherwise it is like
adding money to a bank account but never spending it.
Of course if you find that doing extra design and analysis
projects are making your life more stressful, than that’s
a different story–but if you enjoy it, why not?
One other thing to consider is that you don’t have to take
an “all-or-nothing” position. You could spend *some* of
your additional energy on your work, and spend *some* of
your additional energy on spiritual work–in other words,
you don’t necessarily have to choose, you can do a little
    of both!

    >>Hopefully my internal blockages are being cleared.
    >>I know that there are still at least several parts of me
    >>that resist fusing. On the positive side since doing Fusion
    >>and starting to learn the Healing love practices, my saliva
    >>flow has increased. I seem to have heard that this is the
    >>upper Dan Tien’s expression of jing.

While sometimes it’s a matter of not having strong enough tools,
oftentimes it’s just a matter of patience. We all want to
improve and reach enlightenment, and we all want it to happen
in a straight linear fashion with continuous improvement
day after day after day–and we don’t want it to take too long!
Of course, that’s not what happens. It takes a long long time.
Sometimes it seems like you’re going backward rather than forward,
because it often falls a pattern of ten steps forward, five steps
back etc. In a lot of ways though, I think that this is how it is
supposed to be. If we just improved linearly, without the
appearance of “ten steps forward, five steps back”, we would get
too arrogant. If we improved too rapidly, we wouldn’t learn as
much; we wouldn’t gain the depth of experience. Furthermore,
we wouldn’t appreciate the fruits of our effort as much.
In other words, what we really need to do is just focus
on the present and put forth continued effort, confident in
knowing that our persistence will pay off–without being too
overly concerned with the ultimate goal–knowing that eventually
we will reach it if we just keep doing what we are doing.
Lastly, it is sometimes hard to see just how much progress we are
making in the short term, but with clear vision, if we make
comparisons to how we were say a year previous or whatever, usually
    the differences are striking.

    >>The prospect of reversion is frustrating to me, but I’m going
    >>to continue with the process and not focus as much on the goal.

Exactly. This is the best approach in my opinion.

    >>I look forward to the live transmission of Fusion this Spring
    >>in Asheville and Healing Love at Heavenly Mountain this summer.

Then I’ll see you there. I will also be doing this, and
doing Lesser Kan and Li this summer.

    >>I’m definitely very interested in Kan and Li,
    >>but that may be too much for me to digest this summer.

Of course, only you can decide that for yourself, but if
I had to give a recommendation, I’d say go for it. You’ve
already been working with Fusion and Healing Love on your own,
and then you’re going to get the repetition in the live courses
you’re taking. I personally think you’d have more than enough
background. Plus, you’d have at least a year to practice
it and digest it before even having the option of doing anything
further along (since you’d really only have the ability to
    repeat the Fundamentals/Fusion in Asheville).

    Best,
    Steven
