I got some birthday money and was considering buying some QF items and had some questions for those who may know. If I were to get the DVD only for QF 3 and 4, would I be missing a whole lot from the CDs? The only DVD I have is from QF 1, and I know the Inner Smile is only on the CD, but I have read the ebook and also got the 5 Animals ebook as well so I’m just missing the guided meditation (and possibly some other deeper material). I can’t afford the entire 3 and 4 package, and believe that Michael is pretty thorough in the DVDs. I know there is deeper theory in the CDs but not sure what I’d be missing.
My other option is to get the entire QF 2 package. I first opened my MCO about a year ago by reading Chia’s Healing Energy and further widened it through the Healing Light book/practice. I have been leaning more toward qigong and tao yin practice, and feel that the qigong from 3 and 4 could further my practice and then I can always get the QF 2 package later. Anyway, thanks in advance for your insight!

Blissful Breathing Qigong Form. It’s a nice form,
but you don’t get any instruction on how to do
Internal Qi Breathing. The QF3 audio set explains
how do Natural, Reverse, Counterforce Breathing,
and the internal energetics about it.QF4 video is pretty comprehensive. You wouldn’t
necessarily miss much in just getting the video.
Although you will definitely get a deeper understanding
with both DVD and audio sets.In general, the audio sets contain Michael’s lectures
on Daoist theory, explain some extra energetics
of the qigong forms, and if there are meditations,
then the meditations are only found on the CDs.QF2 would be a good package buy.
The video gives you a nice qigong movement form
to open up the orbit (without even doing any
meditation). The audio set covers the microcosmic
orbit meditation BUT it is not the meditation
described in Chia’s books. In particular, you
learn Michael’s “secret” extra powerful microcosmic
orbit meditations. One he learned from a Wudang
mountain lineage involving a spinning pearl
which is much more powerful than the standard
microcosmic orbit, and the other is a recent
insight involving dragons. They are much better
and you get a much more powerful qi & jing
response than just the points method as outlined
in Chia’s books. Regardless of whether you get it
now or later, I strongly recommend you get this.In general, without taking your concerns into account,
I’d go with the QF2 package . . . but if you are not
real hot and heavy with doing meditations right now
and are looking for just qigong, then I’d recommend
the videos . . . but for videos, I’d say QF2 and QF4,
rather than QF3 and 4. The orbit form from QF2
would be beneficial to add to your background regardless
and probably most important to get. QF4 video contains
of a number of good overall warmup exercises, and some
baby Iron Shirt material (which is supportive for Tao Yin).
QF3 is a nice form, but it is also rather complicated
with a lot of internal energetics, probably best to do
after having learned more of the internal work from the CDs.Hope that helps,
