Some people might have concluded that stillness practice was somehow different than inner alchemy practice, rather than an integral part of it. That is why I also posted the 3 modes of alchemical practice. You use whatever mode is suitable to you in the moment. Historically, the Chan/Zen practices of sitting in stillness came from foundational training methods used in early Taoist schools.
When the Life Force calls me into a really deep meditation, it can last up to 8 hours. During that long periods may be in deep stillness, other periods will involve more active alchemical operations designed to intensify the process or penetrate some issue that has come up, to more quickly complete it. I treat the whole process as an ongoing conversation with the Life Force.
In my experience the Life Force does not seek for humans to be inert or perpetually still, totally surrendering their personal will to some impersonal force. Its wants us to emulate the life force in our person, i.e. to live in the continuum of inner stillness, dynamic yin-yang interaction energetically, and outer physical action.
they are all simultaneous, yet in practice we focus on them sequentially to understand each more deeply.
I am reprinting some comments made to Hagar below, to highlight them.
—————–I always suggest starting with the inner smile, notice what degree of stillness is present or not. Invite in the Tao Immortals and any other guides who are able and willing to assist your process. (Calling in spirits/immortals who have been throuogh human embodiment is important, disembodied spirits are often ignorant of human reality).
Open yourself to wuji, the Supreme Unknown or Original Mystery.
Then ask what practice would serve you best at that moment – movement, meditation, both, whatever. Then afterwards, return to Inner Smile, see if and how your inner space has changed, just abide in it, allow change spontaneously, rest in non-doing. Whatever you set in motion will continue to unfold, and “you” (as your lesser shen/soul team) need to get out of the way.
———————
Regardless of what mode of practice you are in, you may be noticing increased activity.I think everyone is feeling accelerated karma, because the chi field is vibrating faster. But if you are doing alchemical practice, you will notice it and work with it, i.e. increase your response time to the Life Force, it starts becoming more present moment.
In this way you speed up your completion rate, which means you are completing your karma/destiny patterns isnternally rather than waiting for them to complete externally.

I experience the discussion of which practice is best from the outside as silly but also profound. I am stimulated by all the responses. On my inside I experience more of the fluidity of the process and the multidimensional aspects of reality. It is too difficult to simply attempt an approach, be it stillness or inner alchemical processes, unless in a learning mode solely, because the flow is too seductive and rich to force a matrix on which my mind believes is right.
Thanks for your support in this process, Baba -
