Pema,
I’ve been chugging through the ngnondro for the last five years and my teacher knows that I also do the HT stuff and is fine with it. Anyway H.H. Penor Rinpoche teaches tummo every year in the US. Here’s the link:http://retreat.palyul.org/retreat02_tsalung.htm

Wendy,
Just got a few questions which I’m sure you must have already thought about. I’m not going through your experiences so I apologise if they seem a bit naive. Is your friend going to force these beings out or come up with a win-win arrangement? Is it possible to communicate with them to see what they need and co-exist together while…[Read more]

I’m a bit hesitant ordering stuff from the Universal-Tao site. My orders have always been delivered by smirking postman or van drivers – hardly surprising when the parcels have stickers on saying ‘Asian Fulfillment Center’ and ‘www.multi-orgasmic.com. One time a parcel was left with a neighbour …

Absolutely! It’s good to get mind body and spirit singing from the same hymn sheet so the yin phase at the start and end can be relatively modest like centering/gathering oneself or grandiose like communing with a sense of the absolute. It depends on the aim and scope and tradition of the meditation but starting from stillness and/or ending in…[Read more]

Here’s my two penneth worth. I suppose it depends on the intention behind the visualisation. Is it mere fancy or a concerted attempt to influence how energy is expressed? Is the visualisation centred on one’s own mind/body complex or does it aim to connect with something outside? Regardless of the aim and focus the key ingredients, some say, are…[Read more]

There’s a nice summary of the different Tibetan views of mind and subsequent practice in the preface to this document:
http://www.shenpen-osel.org/issue3.pdf (See pages 3-4).In Tibetan terms the dialogue between Buddha and Ananda seems to come from the rangtong madhyamika view.
Tibetans also see mind in terms of the eight…[Read more]

Funnily enough the proprosition of the mind being in the body and the head may not be so ludricous. In the Tibetan tradition the core spiritual source, the bodichitta, resides in the heart centre. Bodichitta can be translated as ‘heart of the enlightened mind’ with two qualities, wisdom and compassion. Now at time of death the final phase of the…[Read more]

I remember reading an email signature that went: ‘The road to truth is long and lined the entire way with annoying bastards’. It’s lamentable that spirituality can attract some terrible people and there’s some outrageous abuses of trust. There’s predators and tricksters in all walks of life and religion and spirituality attact their fair share.…[Read more]
