    Daoism Today: Science, Health, Ecology
    6th International Conference on Daoist Studies
    Loyola Marymount University, June 2-6, 2010

    The sixth in a series of major conferences on Daoist studies and modern application, this continues a tradition that began in Boston (2003) and continued through Mt. Qingcheng (2004), Fraueninsel in Bavaria (2006), Hong Kong (2007), and Mt. Wudang (2009).

    This year’s location is the spectacular campus of LMU in Los Angeles, with its scenic overlook of the Pacific Ocean and easy access to the airport and California sightseeing.

    The theme is the application of Daoist theory and practice in the world today. Preferred topics include: Daoism in relation to science, medicine, cultivation, spirituality, history, culture, arts, music, ecology, ethics, and more.

    CEUs: Continuing Education Units are available for Oriental Medicine professionals.

    Presentations: individual papers (20 mins) or complete panels, with three papers plus chair, discussant (2 hour session).

    Workshops: 2 hours, with emphasis on practice and experience

    Language: English, some Chinese

    Panels: Daoism and: Art; Business; Dietetics; Ecology; Ethics; Internal Alchemy; Leadership Education; Meditation; New World; Thunder Rites; Psychology; Thunder Rites; Women’s Health;Yijing

    Worshops: Applied Qi; Astrology; Bagua zhang; Breathing Practice; Daoist Music; Management Applications; Open Body Qigong; Women’s Qigong

    Schedule: After participants arrive on Wednesday, June 2, the conference begins on Thursday, June 3, at 9 a.m., with a plenary session. Panels will open at 10:30 a.m. and continue, with a break on Friday afternoon after 3 pm, through Sunday morning. A concluding forum will take place on Sunday, at 12 noon.
