As far as my big mouth knows :
Taoism is a path of the Absolute.
What is the Absolute ? It is the source at the centre of this universe. Humans are connected to this source through the lower dantien or hara as they say in zen.
Whilst we are in the wonderful human body, there are 3 major centres, the heart, the head and the lower…[Read more]

One thing I had noted is that HT does not seem to have techniques to work on particular areas of pain. It is more systemic in its approach.
“I have a pain in my elbow ?”
“Ok do the 5 animals”… but what about the elbow, the pain is in the elbow !!!
I noticed this a while back. BKF’s approach is different and he does have particular…[Read more]

In the 6 healing sounds, with the spleen sound there is the use of the chi knife to get deeper into the spleen and breathe it out.
What you can do is move up your chi knife to the blockage and cut/ breathe it out directly. You could use either the spleen sound, heart sound or no sound, or the baseline from Michael Jackson’s Beat It. Depending…[Read more]

There is a famous mountain called the Eiger in the Alps. For years the north face, the Nordwand, was known as “Mordwand” (wall of death) as many famous climbers of the era died on it and hung frozen to the face until the spring thaw when they fell thousands of feet, long dead, to smash into the ground.
The way they had tried to climb was the…[Read more]

It’s always nice to hear a bedtime story. You can go to sleep comfortably and pretend like you are going to wake up in the morning.

When I was 21 I worked for Greenpeace in London in the political section. After 9months I arrived early for work one morning and pigeon-holed the entire company with a little pamphlet I had made explaining why they had no chance in hell of saving the planet because the media controlled people’s minds. (I had been reading a lot of Chomsky).…[Read more]

A little further investigation and the answer is Bruce Frantzis !
He knows what he is talking about. He actually has produced a mega box of tai chi DVDs … it’s big, costs $900 = a lot. For some reason it’s not advertised clearly on his website.
But, he if the first person I have seen who I think he knows, he understands completely. Hi I…[Read more]

They don’t have credit cards because they don’t have credit, prospects, jobs, security, or value hard work.
They enter a society falling apart, and have no place.
So … they hang around together, and on Facebook everyday are another hundred “campaigns” appear on 38 Degrees to save the world. Everyone click “Like”.
And then nothing…[Read more]

The thing is … traumatised people may not comprehend you are saying, because their sense of identity is very much entwined with trauma, memories, emotions and so. They are lost inside and all they know is it hurts and they want to change it.
Like with many internal practices it is actually hard to visualise what is meant to happen inside,…[Read more]

The vision of the thing is wrong, people imagine that ‘they’ are going to get magic powers.
But it’s not like that. The more you know yourself and the more you become yourself the more in communication you are with the whole universe.
A human ordinarily is just stuck in his head fantasising about things.
Actually most people walking next…[Read more]

There are lot of powerful technologies out there that would be very beneficial to people … but that are poorly taught.
The damn shame of it is that people who are suffering are willing to try something and often do, they try many things … but after a while, after disappointments, that window of opportunity can close up.
When in a bad…[Read more]

Science cannot agree on a single thing. If you look in the small print under each scientific theory you will see many other different theories explaining the same phenomena. Which theory becomes dominant is just a question of power and group dynamics, fear, and which university you study at. Nothing objective to it.
The giant hoopla about…[Read more]

It’s 15 hours, although it says something about not needing to attend the Friday seminar if you already know tai chi – possibly Friday is just an intro ?

Gurdjieff had a similar exercise to those encountered by Castenada, but simpler, at the end of the day you simply work back through the entire day recalling it in as much details as possible.
And there was another exercise which is called “the last hour of my life”, where at the end of each hour one considers the previous hour, and tries to…[Read more]

I saw that course but it’s 1.5 days only. I don’t think you can learn much in 1.5 days. Not something you can carry with you in life.
More generally I am wondering why most tai chi teachers don’t know what occurs within the forms ?

Those statements by the Lancet / NEMJ editors say quite a lot. That’s corruption of medical science, heavily regulated … imagine what is occurring in other areas of science.
We can imagine many benefits of ‘secularism’ but what occurs in real life ? Well this. The corruption of science which is supposedly incorruptible.

The goal of Christianity for instance is to push you into a stringent effort in order that you create a soul and merge with the divine. It is not easy to do that in such a chaotic world with many low influences around, and so pressure is part of their path. Pressure such as ‘sin’. It is required and the rewards are perhaps worth it.
Other…[Read more]
