Simon V. replied to the topic Q for Michael Winn astral projection question in the forum General 19 years, 8 months ago

Clairvoyance is nothing special–anybody can do it and get good at it through training or might even be naturally gifted at it;…[Read more]

It’s good to have a good kick in the arse now and then… Within reason.
I like the community’s everybody-is-welcome openness too (which seems to be implicit incidentally in Michael Winn’s sort of mission statement of the american tao–I don’t remember where that is on the site; that statment is a big part of why I’m attracted to this whole…[Read more]

As one lama I’m familiar with likes to put it:
If you fill your mind stream with good, positive impressions (otherwise known as the path of accumulation) meditation will almost happen by itself; the mind will have no problem looking into and sinking into itself. But if you truly have a bad conscience, good luck even getting to sleep…

Since were bringing up good dharma books, I discovered a gem a while ago:
“Nagarjuna’s philosophy as presented in the Maha-prajnaparamita-sastra”, by K. Venkata Ramanan. It is Nagarjuna’s extended commentary on the heart sutra. The translator, K. Ramanan, was born in India where he began an education that he then finished in England and then…[Read more]

I do get the impression that this kind of aggressive posturing tends to keep not just female partipants away, but experienced practicioners interested in productive sharing of ideas and practice tips.
Part of virtue is having the balls to apologise, to bury the hatchet, to make amends in order to continue in a spirit of friendship rather than…[Read more] -

I agree that codes of ethics are a good and even necessary practice.
I’m all for chivalry! I like this sufi idea: javanmardi=”spiritual chivalry”Sakyamuni (“Buddha”), and also Nagarjuna, Saraha, Padmasambhava, etcetera, believe in intrinsic goodness though (so tuning into it really is literally considered to guarantee that you become a good…[Read more]
