Thanks for the excellent article.
Re people’s impressive response to the tsunami, I’ve also been tending to think that it has been serving people as something else to focus on aside from that worrying, suspicious, ingrown toenail in Iraq; it’s something horrible but (as you also mentioned) accidental, which people can feel compassion and express…[Read more] -

I like this idea because I happen to be convinced that this is how it is–“enlightenment” is a natural process that happens for those who meet it halfway, and lots of religions and secret societies and artistic cults of personality have spiralled up around people who have accessed and continue to access it.
This idea is central to Carl Jung’s…[Read more] -

Any balanced development of the energy body, together with an active interest in dreaming (keeping a dream journal for starters) is said to lead with assurance to greater capacities in dreaming/astral presence, in Taoism, Buddhism, Sufism and in the Western alchemical/occult/magic tradition. Pretty good vote of confidence…

You could try working with the ming men/solar plexus chakra.
I find that working here–slow/calm/firm concentrative efforts with positive inner smile kind of emotional tone–tends to bring the energy up to that point and then naturally spreads it around and up. This is also considered to be an important storing point, and I find that it does seem…[Read more] -

I would say microcosmic orbit. However I don’t really believe in leaking energy–I like Winn’s aiming at a core energy which, like in the buddist tradition, isn’t dependent upon an accumulation but is rather about tuning into it, getting past coarser layers.

True, and once you’ve had a teacher, books are much more useful and safer.

I quess one thing you can say for Chia is that he decided to go ahead and step into the arena and make mistakes. He opened up the feild and helped wake people up to the fact that eastern arts are not just about “mechanics of the body” and helped move people beyond what was common for a long time with Japanese based arts where there was a kind of…[Read more]

I have dealt with Jehovah’s Witnesses and the like on several occasions. You know, coming to the door…”Have you ever considered what might happen after you die?”
What I do is listen politely.
I listen to them as if they are really trying to communicate something that I might find correct, or not, without any spirit of sarcasm (which is not…[Read more] - Load More
