Moon is on the right and sun on left (sun rises in east, heart is on left) basic practice.

The switch of yin-within-yang and v.v. comes from dragon/liver/father/yang rising within right lunar core channel, and tiger/lungs/mother/yin sinking within left core channel.

You’ve now switched tot he channel instead of the organ.

Many methods of taoist meditation have become inextricably entrwined with chan buddhism, which frequently call themselves taoist. I was merely defining that he is not teaching a pure form of alchemical taoism. I am not his student and don’t know with any depth what he teaches – just that he is a martial artist making the transition to meditative…[Read more]

Totally agree that old books can and WILL be interpreted by modern minds within the context of their modern experience. Why old books should be used to understand principles but not necessarily methods – that may no longer be applicable in current cycle of collective human experience.

Michael Winn replied to the topic Question for Michael Winn, please help me out here! in the forum General 20 years, 11 months ago

I believe, based on years of doing kundalini yoga and taoist practices, and on working with many clients suffering from what they identify as “kundalini syndrome”<
that what many people think are kundalini experiences are just strong (usually excessive) energy moving up the spine, i.e. chi in fire phase that is not balanced by water phase.…[Read more]

Michael Winn replied to the topic Question to Micheal Winn or Anyone who can help. in the forum General 20 years, 11 months ago

Having lived in NYC for 20 years, I am familiar with CK CHU, as I knew one of his senior teachers. He is best known as a tai chi teacher and martial artist who enforces rigorous practice of horse stance. He later came out with meditation books that were mixture of chan (zen) and taoist styles. I would classify him as “traditional”, with emphasis…[Read more]

    Fair Question,
Since you’ve never been to one of these retreats.

It’s important to take a retreat suitable to your level of practice.
that’s why some retreats have pre-reqs.

But general answer to your question is: a powerful chi field is NOT dangerous to a beginner because it is balanced. You will draw from it what you need to achieve a…[Read more]
