Life isn’t suffering…except for humans. The Shaolin guy I trained with would belittle us for grunting or complaining about our little aches. “Look at nature”, he’d say, “do the animals or plants complain when they are hungry or hurt? No, they do what they do. They follow the way. Humans follow distortions.”
I value the opinions of Michael and…[Read more]

Plato’s likening of Taoists to hackers was a quote of his when he was still into the Healing Tao scene.
It was his positive take on Taoists not being limited by dogma, but willing to include anything that worked. He called that being a hacker, perhaps feeling that the freeware is inferior, and that we need to hack into that from which we are…[Read more]

This discussion about spiritual transmission being freeware reminds me or a quote from Plato that goes something like, “a taoist has a soul akin to a hacker”. This seems to be somewhat in contrast with Winn’s suggestion that it is freeware. It is an interesting contrast in perception of the world: hacking vs. receiving.
Also, Simon, your…[Read more]

Jason,
It would be a great idea to visit some doctors: a western MD to check out your organic system, and a chinese TCM (traditional chinese medicine) to check out your energy system. They are both of great value. For example, a female friend of mine just went for a routine check up and they found that her hemoglobin levels were 1/3 what they…[Read more]

Keith,
The dvd has great reviews on amazon; have you seen it?
I was inspired last summer by pictures of his work in some books I have. On some walks in a local forest, I would gather rocks, snail shells and sticks, and make baguas, spirals and tai chi symbols. What I made probably looked like a mess to anyone passing by (which would mostly…[Read more]

There are several articles in the “articles section” of this site that address that: 2 by Michael Winn and one by Marco Bizzozero. Just click on articles, subscribe, go to the home page, then go back to articles, and scroll down until you get to the sex section.

Hi,
Two things often engage the anus: stopping the flow of pee, and squeezing out a crap. The former is probably easier to play with by noting how your anus may contract a bit as you stop the flow of pee.
From there you can start to isolate the anus from the penis. Next you can explore how to isolate parts of the anus by noting how…[Read more]

Here are my thoughts, and I would happily be disabused of them!
It seems to suggest that we all have imperfections, even those who have immortality of a certain type. Complete perfection would allow complete immortality of all types (esp. ability to materialize in physical form at will). But, some glitch of imperfection leads to physical death…[Read more]

Hi,
I agree with Rainbowbear that you sound like you’re in a rut, and it is hard to get moving. And, the solution is not to find the ideal, but to just get moving. So, I offer three suggestions.
1. Use Yudelove’s book. I worked through it all a few years ago, and it was really nice in getting me to do many different practices. Sometimes the…[Read more]

I’m a university prof and I’ve seen bright people like you waste their time, their prof’s time, and their parent’s money going to university when they don’t want to go. Don’t go.
But, what should you do?
Like Yoda suggested, follow your bliss. But, there are many blisses, three keys ones are: body-bliss, service-bliss, and…[Read more]
