Dear Lovers of Getting Naturally Stoned,
I am back from getting Stoned. On stone circles, that is,
both in Stonehenge and a new site to me, Callanish in
Scotland. These are the two largest stone monuments in
Britain. I got high on each, using a 5000 year old
megalithic technology. What exactly causes the high warm
feeling when you stand inside, or next to these great cold
stones?
The energetic technology the ancients used is called
RESONANCE. The Taoists use it as their main technology as
well; in chinese it’s called gan ying. Its a principle of
“subtle music” or harmonic tones of nature. By aligning
these giant stones in sacred geometric patterns attuned to
the cycles of the sun, moon, and earth, the ancient sages in
Scotland created a coherent wave and tonal pattern that is
still broadcasting – to anyone who is listening.
The stones themselves function as kind of giant acupuncture
needles inserted into meridians on the planet. This triggers
the earth’s magnetic field to expand out the stone points. I
have long suspected the ancients dowsed their site for
underground streams, which concentrate the earth’s magnetic
jing/essence, like blood flowing in her veins.
A similar
thesis has been proposed by dowser Michael Poynder in a
recent book, Lost Science of the Stone Age: Sacred Energy
and the I Ching. He contends every stone has either a lunar
(para-magnetic) or solar (di-magnetic) charge to it, that
correlate to the yin and yang signs of the I Ching. And that
you can dowse five distinct layers down deep into the Earth
beneath such sites, a reflection of the five elements/phases
that flows into the stones above.
Then as the earth rotates, sun and moon cycles act as
triggers which intensify and alter the pulsing magnetic
pattern of the “stone needles”. Add to this concentrated
cosmic force the millennia of human ceremonies performed on
the site, and you are left with a richly layered recording
from the past that still feels alive and pulsating — if you
are sensitive enough to catch the frequency. It is
megalithic fengshui at its best – and still humming away.
During the week of the autumn Equinox, we rented Stonehenge
and did a private powerful sunrise ceremony inside its
massive circle. Part of the ceremony involved doing
Primordial Qigong inside, with our group arranged in the
shape of a cross pointing to the four cardinal directions.
The primordial qigong form is designed to gathers and
concentrates chi from the four directions into the center of
one’s body (and core energy channel).
Having 25 people doing this wuji qigong in a “flying cross”
formation intensified its normally magical effect.
Afterwards a number of us, who had done ceremonies within
Stonehenge three times in the last six years, noted that the
earth chi seemed to be shifting on the site. It felt softer,
gentler, more welcoming, as if the Earth had slowly been
opening its giant heart and radiating it out the needles of
the massive stone circle. Many people had felt being
embraced, even cradled, by the paradoxically hard stones.
Although Stonehenge is the more famous site, Callanish may
be more intact and its field less interfered with by modern
visitors. It’s located on Lewis, a remote and wild windswept
island off the barren northwest coast of Scotland. At 400
feet long by 150 feet wide, its bigger than a football
field, the second largest stone circle in England.
Please first take a look at an aerial shot of the Callanish

Callanish has a very different feeling from Stonehenge. It
is arranged like the much later christian celtic cross – a
circle of taller stones at the center of an immense cross
extending to the four sacred directions. Only in the north
there are two rows of stones, like a woman with her legs
spread open, to capture the planetary energy of “new birth”
coming in from the darkness of the north pole.
What is the purpose of this massive stone cross, a kind of
megalithic “ankh”, that was erected three millennia before
the Christians made the cross configuration popular in
another part of the world? I think its a combination of
geomantic “earth acupuncture” and magnetic alignment to
sun-moon and zodiacal cycles of time. The zodiac is
indicated by the circle at the center of the cross.
Astro-geographers have determined the site measures, among
other things, the 18.5 year lunar ecliptic cycle.
Callanish focuses a beautiful heart energy. That was my
experience – it was much more heart centered than
Stonehenge, even though our ceremony there this time was
enveloped in a much softer energy than in previous year’s
ceremonies. Callanish, I believe, was designed to hold the
deep heart space of humanity, the meeting of the four sacred
directions in the central/ fifth circle.
I stood with my back to the 25 foot tall stone in the very
center of circle, facing the setting sun. The chi from the
four directions was pouring into my heart. It was forcing my
heart to expand into a vast inner space, but so powerfully
that it was almost painful.
It was as if my heart was capturing in a single moment the
force of the stones flowing with unwavering focus for 5000
years. I could voices imploding within me from a past
civilization. They were voices challenging us humans,
asking: where is your heart taking you, and taking planet
earth?
Perhaps the ancients had a vision of vast time cycles, and
knew that a time that would come when Earth and humanity
would make a great shift. Global warming is slowly becoming
global “cooking”, and the impurities in human civilization
may get cooked out in the process.
I hope everyone is wise enough to “cook” their own essence
before it gets cooked by outer energies of change. That is
why i practice qigong and inner alchemy – to open the portal
of change within, before the energies without force the
changes upon me. There are many ways to ride the waves of
change.
I hope each of you has found a process to do so .
