Inside Chi Flows Naturally:
1. SUMMER RETREATS. Don’t miss a fabulous, low-cost opportunity to play with kindred souls in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. The largest program of its kind in the world: 30 affordable, high quality Taoist movement, meditation, and energy healing retreats.
Heavenly Mountain resort is being upgraded into a “healing water” spa by the owner David Kaplan. Special thanks to David (& his twin brother Earl) for inviting us back. The facilities will be even nicer and the chi should be cooking at a higher octave – I can feel the mountain spirits calling us back. They are eager to play with us!
Below is a short overview of our exciting 2008 summer program. You can download a 1-page summary at: https://healingtaousa.com/retreats/healingtaosummerretreats2008.pd
To easily register online, or review the reasonable 2008 housing prices, see the main site: http://www.HealingTaoRetreats.com. Save your spot on any retreat with only a $100. deposit. You are free to change your choice of retreat or week you attend at any time without penalty. For many, these summer retreats are a peak experience that permanently transforms their lives.
Please note: We need your help in getting the word out! We’re offering a $50. future credit off any summer retreat for EACH new friend you sign up for a retreat. Offer is only for previous retreat attendees OR new signups who pay in full for a retreat this summer and later refer a friend. Just email to Registrar your friend’s name before they signup.
We have a generous Extended Payment program (with no-interest financing!) and Work Study opportunities that will cover the cost of your room. See http://www.healingtaoretreats.com/index.html#k. So don’t let money stop you from learning Tao arts and spiritual sciences when you need them – which is usually NOW.
Our new Registrar is Tynne (pronounced “Tina”) Clifford, a long time Healing Tao lover and qigong instructor. Please read the course descriptions on the web first – printed brochure is not out until March. Then if you need help deciding which retreat is best for you, simply email Tynne at retreats@healingdao.com. Email is easiest for us, but you can also call 888-750-1773 (or 828-450-8521). Best time to catch Tynne is 5 – 8 pm Mon-Thur eves, or Sundays 10 am – 6 pm, EST.2. China Dream Trip 2008: The full 22-day trip is sold out. We have room for two people on the 16 day core trip May 12-27. For this exciting itinerary, see http://www.healingdao.com/chinatrip2008.html.
3. TOP TAOISM BOOKS. Many interesting new additions are coming to my website: Sexual and Medical Qigong sections, Tai Chi & Bagua, Chinese Astrology and I Ching pages. I just activated the “Top Taoism Books” page. It includes six of Livia Kohn’s books, and new titles soon to come. Livia is one of the most readable yet penetrating scholars around. She has mothered in a whole generation of young Daoist/Taoist scholars who are open to insights from modern Tao practitioners. Her “Health & Long Life: The Chinese Way” is the best overview of Chinese medicine and spirituality on the market. It ‘s so hip it even includes a chapter on Healing Tao inner alchemy methods. See http://www.healingdao.com/toptaoismbooks.html.
Livia has also invited me to join the editorial board of the new Journal of Daoist Studies (JDS). The first issue looks to be a fascinating mix of practitioners and scholars exploring what they love about The Way. I’m writing a piece on how the inner alchemy lineage transmission from China to the West has changed it. I’ll notify you when its available this June.
—————-Dear Seekers of Summer Fun and High Chi,
Every summer a unique community of Tao lovers and seekers curious to explore “energy” gathers. They are all drawn by the lure of penetrating the deepest spiritual mystery: the Life Force, or Chi (Qi) Field.
For some, its their only chance to really hang out with a growing tribe of high-energy folks I loosely describe as Tao lovers. These types need to nurture themselves at retreats filled with folks who are as eclectic, free-thinking and hungry for the truth of embodiment as they are themselves. They are seeking a fun and enlightened community, and find it.
For others, focus is more on the Healing Tao faculty of 13 top quality masters teaching the retreats. For thousands of years Chinese masters have been refining the Tao movement, meditation, and healing arts. But Chinese traditionally tend to be secretive about their skills. They usually make you wait a long time before they give you the real gems.
Fortunately, a new generation of teachers, both Chinese and Western, are throwing secrecy to the winds and “telling it like it is” at our retreats in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The retreats are a low-cost way to pick up cultivation skills and life-time health benefits that are very hard to find elsewhere. You’ll discover more “secrets” casually revealed in a week than you would likely find chasing around China for years. Its easier, less expensive, and more fun, since its also in English.
Judging from the glowing testimonials we receive every year, people coming to these retreats are quickly able to more deeply “feel the chi” in their body. Other typical comments: “I am able to express my chi as the sheer joy of graceful movement”. “I feel so blessed to learn how to focus my chi for the benefit of healing others”. “Wow! I haven’t felt this high for 30 years! and it seems to be a permanent change in my body”. I almost died reading this punster’s quip: “Thanks for sharing the qigong secrets of Youth-in-Asia”.
So what’s happening this summer? We have 8 weeks of retreats, with as many as four different retreats each week. Here’s a quick overview of changes to our program – or you can just skip down to the list of retreats below.
MANTAK CHIA is offering in a unique new course at his only residential retreat in the USA. He has NEVER taught this course before. It’s on how to integrate sexual energy cultivation with absorption of cosmic energy for qigong healing. Wow! I expect a sell-out, so please sign up early. A good course to combine with Qigong Fundamentals.
MICHAEL WINN (that’s me) will offer Qigong Fundamentals 1-4, which a lot of people come to after buying my homestudy DVD-Audio course. Others take it to complete the fast track qualifications for Healing Tao Associate Instructor. The live experience is naturally far more powerful than video. The synergy buildup over an entire week of concentrated practice gives people big “chi breakthroughs”. This course often sells out.
I follow it up with Healing Love/Taoist Sexual Secrets (with Minke de Vos) and my inner alchemy Kan and Li series of higher level retreats. This year Star Alchemy and Heaven & Earth Alchemy courses (taught every other year) will be especially powerful. I’ve been receiving a lot of personal insights into the dynamic functioning of primordial consciousness, part of the planetary shift.MARIE FAVORITO, Senior Instructor. Her Fusion of the Five Elements 1&2 is always popular, the Taoist way to emotional sanity. This year it is souped up by combining Fusion with the rooting power of Iron Shirt 1. She also offers some dynamic new combinations: Tai Chi Chi Kung with Tao Yin (Taoist yoga), and Chi Nei Tsang with Healing Buddha Palm. Marie is sweet, like steel wrapped in cotton and lovely silk….
DAVID TWICKEN, Senior Instructor, is offering a fabulous and totally new re-working of Bone Marrow Neigong 2 &3. He’ll focus on Tendon and Marrow Washing and Bone Breathing classic methods, combined with Fusion 3 (8 Extraordinary Vessels & Macro-cosmic Orbit). The pre-requisite is the Orbit/Six Healing Sounds. David’s mastery of Chinese medicine, feng shui, and astrology are integrated brilliantly into his revisioning of these practices.
ROBERT PENG’s Qigong Intensive was very exciting last year, and he is offering both levels 1 and 2 this year. His system, learned from a Buddhist monk, is very similar to the Healing Tao system. It runs parallel, with lots of interesting refinements and applications for Qi Healing. He’s got the gift of “electric chi”. His style, a lovely mix of humility and humor, will nourish energy healers of all stripes.
ZHONGXIAN WU is a new face, and he offers two fresh topics. Wu is an old friend from my early trips to Mt. Hua in China. His calligraphy page on my site you may have enjoyed. Wu will reveal the secrets of using Calligraphy as a healing art – bring a brush, novices welcome! He will also share his shamanic approach to experiencing the I Ching through qigong movements. The I Ching is THE foundation for all the Taoist arts, and Wu is superb teacher. I’m delighted to add his talents to our faculty.
MINKE DE VOS, Senior Instructor from Vancouver, is one of the most graceful qigong teachers around. I love teaching Healing Love with her, and women love learning Jade Egg and other exercises with her. Having gone through a heart transplant uniquely qualifies her to teach Happy & Healthy Heart Qigong, a classical Taoist form. She follows that with a new combo of Tao Basics and Taoist Yoga for Cultivating Sexual Energy. It’s also an Associate Instructor certification course.
FRANK ALLEN offers a new trio of Bagua courses – Classical Cheng, Sword, and Bagua-Xing Yi as Inner Alchemy. I rate him at the pinnacle of Bagua Zhang teaching in the West, with his 35 years experience with many great masters. This trio doubles as certification training, a unique integration of Tao meditation and lineage martial arts.
TINA ZHANG has just come out with a new book to match her Woman’s Earth Qigong course. Last year she and Frank did a wonderful book on Northern Wu Classical Tai Chi, which she still teaches in two retreats, and certifies students in the long form. She and Frank are constantly refining their teachings with visits to masters in China.
JUDITH POOLE keeps refining her Energy Medicine + Energy Psychology = Practical Tools for Living. Judith is a great synthesizer of everything Tao with whatever is energetically cutting edge that “works”. She’s also psychic, so you can’t hide your stuff. Her small group intensives are for folks serious about healing or changing any aspect of their life – fast. Like NOW. You get results, guaranteed.
WANG YAN is a famous Chinese doctor, international tai chi champion, grandmother, and a charming soul with a gift for story-telling. She’s also a walking medical qigong encyclopedia. So many people fall in love with her I’m thinking of starting a fan club. Her Weight Loss and Medical Qigong course is a perennial favorite – people “breathe fat away”, up to 15 pounds a week!
MATTHEW WISZNIEWSKI is a Healing Tao instructor from Europe, dancer, Huna expert, and author of four books. He specializes in the Tao of Creative/Expessive Arts. Get your vital organ spirits singing and dancing! This new course is fun and liberating and totally fresh.
———————–Tough to choose, right? I feel the same way, I want to study with everybody. If you really can’t decide, remember to email our Registrar Tynne at retreats@healingdao.com. Email is easiest for us, but you can also call 888-750-1773 (or 828-450-8521). Best time to catch Tynne is 5 – 8 pm Mon-Thur eves, or Sundays 10 am – 6 pm, EST.

January 29, 2008 at 10:52 pm #27219Michael WinnKeymasterTruth be known, I am actually (my main Self) visiting from the year 4008. So 3008 typo was freudian slip, just trying to find mid-point on my way back home. Mid-points are key to balance in Tao practice…..
