I’m not sure that there’s really any consensus here;
everyone sort of has their own feelings–but nonetheless I’ll share mine.
In short, I think it will have to do with rates of change.
Just as the “Dark Ages” could be viewed as a time where things remained
relatively static and had little change–this is a time period of the opposite,
and 2012 represents the peak of that opposite.
In more detail:
The period we are in now–including 2012–represents the
death/birth paradigm. What ends and what we give birth to is
all a function of consciousness. In the shifting of gears, the extra yuan chi that
descends upon the planet will be shaped by the prevailing consciousness.
Fear, panic, and apocalyptic scenarios projected from the mind by society
will create changes perceived as unwelcome; optimism, hope, love, and spiritual
connection will help create positive changes. The degree of each depends
on the spirit of the planet and its inhabitants.
My opinion is that we will overall take the middle road.
The result is that we won’t have the apocalypses that some fear and we
won’t have the complete evolutionary jump that some hope for.
What we will have are shifts in awareness and consciousness–that will
first become more aware to the active spiritual seeker, and then to humanity as a whole on subtle levels. These shifts will initiate changes to our
lifestyle and our connection to the divine. The changes themselves will
appear naturally and will only appear radical if one compares the rate of
change we are experiencing to the rate things changed previously, which
brings me back to my short answer 🙂

(from Bernadette Brady newsletter – link below)
“The Mayan calendar includes the great cycle of precession where the north celestial pole slowly rotates through an ellipse which takes around 26,000 years to complete. In the year 2012 the current pole star Polaris will be as close as it can get to being exactly on the north celestial pole. Pole stars are rare, the last one being in approximately 2790 BCE with Thuban in Draco. This alignment of the pole with the star Polaris was, apparently, for the Mayans the marker for the beginning and end of their great cycle of ages.
Many people believe this to be apocalyptic but one must remember that, as with all cycles, they do not have shape edges but tend to slowly emerge as they step through their stages. thus any so called endings could take several thousand years to manifest. ”August 9, 2008 at 12:22 pm #28850August 14, 2008 at 9:37 am #28852
north pole rotation
and north star procession
2000+/- is transition time
over the throne of north star
which is supposed to be an enlightened star
when compared to vega, its opposite
this transition time which is always a gate for transformation.
however look at the prospect at different way
we are now under max influence of polaris
and have been for the past millenium 🙂
so this are the good times
afterwards we are moving under the vega.
the dark time.
now do you believe this is even possible.
even more darkness. quite inspiring, isn’t it?
