Should breast massage be done only in one direction, or in both?
When I learned it it was done so that the fingers in the center would go down. So it goes out from outside, toward the center, above; then down in the center, and toward going out below.
This made sense because it also would stimulate the heart to open up, and the microcosmic to circle.But then I looked at an old booklet from Tao Garden from 95-98 circa, and it said to do it in both direction, and specified to do it 36 times for each direction.
Any light on this?
Also do we have any experience as healing tao about women who are near to menopause and use taoist technique to balance, and stabilise the menstruation before. And then get pregnant later?
I am teaching to a 47 years old woman who does not have a stable cycle (sometimes 14 days, sometime 35), and that now that have started breast kidney and ovarian massage the cycle seem to have balanced out. She would very much like to have children, and for personal reasons it was never possible before in her life. But now she is very worried that it might be too late.

I’ve seen it mentioned to massage the other way . . . namely up
the center and around (to bring energy up to the breasts).CW? CCW? both directions? 36 times one way? 36 times both ways?
36 times one way, 24 times the other way?Blah blah. All nonsense in my view.
Fastidious attention to irrelevant details . . .The important thing is that you are stimulating the lymph to flow and
you are moving energy and preventing it from getting stuck. You want
flowing lymph and flowing qi; that’s the goal.Personally, I’d go for both directions over just one (why limit yourself?).
As to your other question,
it can sometimes be difficult for an older woman to conceive,
but if she is still ovulating, then it is still possible.
Doing the massage techniques that you are doing is supportive,
and keeps the hormones flowing . . . and in general can increase
success possibility. However, this is supportive only. If
getting pregnant is something vital to her (rather than a happy
surprise), then she should get in touch with a fertility doctor ASAP
to increase the odds.S

I never read of massaging the breast the opposite way. I personally would not have done it, as I would have thought it could bring too much energy in the heart. But who knows, maybe for women who want to have bigger breast it might work…Indeed about the lymph and the qi.
Btw, also massaging the breast releases prolactin. Prolactin is usually released when women breastfeed their babies. And is the chemical trigger that keeps women from ovulating again. Which I think is what is under the “stopping the menstruation” part of the practice.
Unfortunately one of the things I discovered recently is that still ovulating is not enough. There are many other elements that must fit in the puzzle for the pregnancy to happen. Recently one of her comment was: all my life I had to pay attention not to get pregnant and now that I want to get pregnant I discover how hard it is. I could have relaxed all my life. 🙂
Which is why your suggestion to consider a fertility doctor is a good one.

P.S: if you are young and do not want to get pregnant and you are reading this keep on pay attention. The probability of getting pregnant decrease a lot with age. Which means when you are young they are really higher.
