When I first read David Shen site, I clearly noticed ‘corrupt’ in reference to ching and ‘and practice of ‘bonding of’ mind and body that stood out.
Nei Gong and Yin Yang Gong section on http://www.qigongresearch.org:
‘It is of utmost importance to understand that for the purpose of Nei Dan Shu or any sexual cultivation method, it is useless trying to utilize the already spoiled Zhen Yang Dian (spark-particle of true Yang) after it is already converted to sperm or blood. At an advanced level it is possible to extract the yao (medicine) from the already fallen decayed Yang and even to transform the physical substance back to its primordial essence, the only form useable for Nei Dan Shu.’Foundation Qi Gong Training for Self Cultivation section on http://www.qigongresearch.org:
‘Once the Shen -self mind consciousness-(Mercury in alchemy) is captured is bond to to the body(lead) the training of Nei Dan can actually start.
In traditional learning the student is told NOT to try any mental techniques before this attainment is reached in order not to fall in the Xiao Dao the minor ways leading toward Guei Qi the gosthly or illusory Qi, a problem of the majority of practitioner in the west.’‘The method of Fan Guan Ning Shen Ru Ding reversing the light crystallizing the Shen and entering stabilty of oneness will be thought.’
David Shen, fully bound by his will, is very clear on later heaven ching cultivation.
David Shen and Kumar Frantzis both speak of glueing the bodies. Kumar in reference to breathing training. However both Frantzis and Minke de Voos suffered health problems (hepatitis, heart attack) and were practicing regulated breathing.
Which is a possible reason for separating the forms of projecting chi and absorbing chi. Animals/(deep) healing and five gods chi kung in Winn HT as example. Or above bonding.
Both Shen and Kumar insist on practising seamless breath as prerequisite for qi gong.Nei Gong and Yin Yang Gong section on http://www.qigongresearch.org:
‘Gradually proceeding from Gui Xi (turtle breath, approximately 3 breaths per minute) to Tai Xi (embryonic breath), the state of the practice that Daoists consider the opening of the first of the 3 Guan to start Zhen-Fa, the true method.’‘Accomplishement of Tai Xi corresponds to the level when the adept can breath like a foetus in the womb without the intake of air.
It is only here that the actual practice of Daoist Qi Gong can begin.’This were predictable notions, based on Kumar scrolls. However Shen is first to bring up sleep practice in relation to glueing. Glueing Shen and Hun. Which is obvious, considering connection of liver and dreaming made by Glenn Morris. Very true ‘raw’ training.
Dream Qigong (Shui Meng Gong)
‘Entering dream state consciously is trained several times a day, lasting anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour’‘One must eventually learn to maintain a balance for indefinite periods of time, not awakening into the physical or falling into unconsciousness, and also learning how to use Zhi and Yi.’
‘Consciousness, the Shen, which is used to being active only when awake in the physical, learns to be awake in the non physical also by merging with the Hun. In this way the doors are open to other worlds in to dimensions operating 24 hours non stop.’
One relevant paragraph not copied.
‘The development of the Zhi and Yi, the ability to sustain focus through the non physical dimensions, the harnessing of vitality and the ability to become Song and Wang Wo at the right timing are all directed at one important experience; the transition of Hun and Shen at the moment of death.’
How about form for both absorbing and projecting, each sequencialy, of all elements on all levels. No form in HT. Neither does David Shen offer one. Both just nei dan. David Shen offers poetic and reduced description. It is possible he omitted pure yin reference. Knowing he is kowtowing to magus it is deducable what he practices. Very fire first method of cultivation ala Kumar fire school, where pure fire is ignited in dan tien first which is then lowered to perrineum and the raised through central channel.
Metaphysics, Mysticism & Magic of China section on http://www.qigongresearch.org:
‘ within the Yin Yang rhythms of the body that particular point and special moment in time when the Yin reaches its peak. There exists the “living zhe shi”, the first sprout of Yang energy, the purest form of Yang.’‘The secret of the Nei Dan is to harvest this very pure Yang energy, considered to be the most powerful medicine for the body. The “living zhe shi” has to be melted and transformed. To describe this process, symbols such as fire, wind, the melting pot, the picking and melting of the medicine are used. The goal is the growth of “Dan”.’

‘At level 3 the practitioner begins to cut the cords that hold the Dantien in place. The successful student is than able to free his dantien from its immobile state and move it at will. This phenomenon can be felt by the casual observer who places their hand over the practitioners abdomen. From what Im told it feels like a hard ball inside the abdominal region that moves independently. Once the practitioner has done this he moves the now mobile Dantien down to the energy center located at the perineum (I think), thus beginning the process…’
sourceSeptember 1, 2005 at 7:29 am #7532Michael WinnKeymasterI notice from looking at David’s site that he has channelled in something I hadn’t seen from him much in the past – frequent naming of five shen spirits in relation to all his other practices…..
There is a point often overlooked by cultivators – the problem of over-cultivating postnatal jing from too much hard or external training. This makes you feel strong while alive, but is extremely painful at death, as the shen is trapped in the jing and cannot escape easily.
So “glueing” is not really the best term for shen-jing relationship: merging and transmuting each other in an openflowing relaionship will give a permanent feeling of both stsength and lightness.
