    Hi All,

I’ve been doing Fusion of the Five Elements I for a while. In some previous research about emotions I came across the Anthony Robbins “Power of Emotions” Ten Action Signals. It is somewhat of an external map to give direction in dealing with your emotions on a mental level. I included it if it may be useful to someone. Some of his ten signs are very obvious matching it up with the five organ spirit energies of Fusion but some are not.

I haven’t gotten to a deep enough level yet to clearly know about the origin of feeling hurt and lonely. I guess feeling hurt subtley originates from anger liver/wood and feeling lonely comes from feeling depressed which is a lung/metal issue. Anyone care to comment or go through each one and label them with the five element/organ spirit energy?

    1. Uncomfortable -Change your state, clarify what you want, and take action in that direction.

    2. Fearful -Get prepared, get ready to do something.

    3. Hurt – An expectation is not being met and you have a feeling of loss. Change your behavior or your way of communicating your needs.

    4. Angry – An important rule has been violated. Let the person know your standard may not be the same as theirs but you need their help.

    5. Frustrated -You need to change your approach to achieve your goal.

    6. Disappointed -Your expectation may not be appropriate for the situation at hand.

    7. Guilty/Regretful -You violated one of your own standards. You must ensure you won’t violate it again.

    8. Inadequate -You need to improve what you’re doing or change your criteria, your rules may be too hard to meet.

    9. Overwhelmed/Depressed – You need to prioritize. List the things you want to accomplish in order of priority, then take action with the first item on your list.

    10. Lonely -You need connection with people.

    Balance and Harmony
    Regards.

It’s important to know that aren’t any hard and fast rules
about which negative emotions are associated with which organs.

For instance, when the liver is blocked it is common to feel
anger or frustration. However, suppose you are in a state of anger.
Can you assume that it is coming from the liver spirit? Not necessarily.
You could be having anger coming from the lungs, or you could be having
it come from the kidneys, etc. So even if the *typical* negative reaction
of the kidneys is to feel fear, they are not necessarily limited to that.

The only way to actually know what the source is, is to be silent,
to look within, and to be a listener. Then you will know.

In other words, if you are feeling anger, while it is a good bet that
it is the liver spirit–it doesn’t necessarily have to be. It
    depends from case to case.

Having said that, I’ll play the game 🙂

Below I’ll list what I consider are the most likely candidates,
but again, you can’t really apply a hard and fast rule.

    ———–

    >>>1. Uncomfortable -Change your state, clarify what you want,
    >>>and take action in that direction.

    Spleen/Earth

Uncomfortable is kind of a vague word. It encompasses many
different feelings. You could be uncomfortable because you
are lonely, scared, frustrated, in pain, etc.
So it’s sort of too general to classify.

If pressed against a wall, I probably say it is a
Spleen/Earth issue. Without another emotion present,
I’d say it’s a lack of feeling centered and the unease
or underlying anxiety associated with it.

    >>>2. Fearful -Get prepared, get ready to do something.

    Kidney/Water

    >>>3. Hurt – An expectation is not being met and you
    >>>have a feeling of loss. Change your behavior or your
    >>>way of communicating your needs.

    Primary: Heart/Fire
    Secondary: Lungs/Metal

When somebody hurts you–think jilted lover–it’s the heart that’s
under assault. Your heart is wounded. Expectations are a
subtle form of judgement (and judgements are sort of an
arrogant way of thinking–that you *know* how things are going
to go). Judgements are heart activities.

Any feeling of loss you get as a secondary consequence, is a form of grief,
which is lung issue–caused by fire melting metal in the control cycle.

    >>>4. Angry – An important rule has been violated.
    >>>Let the person know your standard may not be the
    >>>same as theirs but you need their help.

    Liver/Wood

Other elements can come into play here also.
Was your anger caused by a judgement of someone (as
in Tony Robbins interpretation)? Then the Heart/Fire
is involved. Was it an outgrow of trying to control
someone else? Then the Spleen/Earth is involved.

    >>>5. Frustrated -You need to change your approach to achieve your goal.

    Liver/Wood

    >>>6. Disappointed -Your expectation may not be appropriate
    >>>for the situation at hand.

    Heart/Fire

Again, expectations are judgements. As in #3, the result
of thinking you *know* how things are going to go, but then
    they don’t.

    >>>7. Guilty/Regretful -You violated one of your own standards.
    >>>You must ensure you won’t violate it again.

    Heart/Fire

Guilt and Regret are judgements. You are judging yourself.
    It’s a self-denigration that blocking self-acceptance. It’s
    a form of self-hatred.

    >>>8. Inadequate -You need to improve what you’re doing
    >>>or change your criteria, your rules may be too hard to meet.

    Heart/Fire

You create expectations for yourself (judgements), that you
don’t feel you live up to. It’s self-critical behavior.

    >>>9. Overwhelmed/Depressed – You need to prioritize.
    >>>List the things you want to accomplish in order of priority,
    >>>then take action with the first item on your list.

    Overwhelmed:
    Primary: Liver/Wood
    Secondary: Kidney/Water

Overwhelmed is a feeling of stress, which first hits the liver.
Overwhelmed is a feeling of frustration combined with fatigue.
Frustration comes from the liver, but the fatigue comes from
low kidney fire–having burned out your adrenals.

    Depressed: Lungs/Metal

    >>>10. Lonely -You need connection with people.

    Heart/Fire

While loneliness can *cause* depression or sadness as
a secondary reaction–loneliness itself comes from the heart.
It’s a function of not feeling loved and not feeling
your heart connected to life. Feeling unloved is a heart issue.

    ————-

I find it interesting how many of the emotions that Tony
Robbins lists here are Heart/Fire issues.

Given his “fiery” personality and power of speech,
    I’m not terribly surprised.

I just hope he doesn’t give himself a heart attack with
all the fire issues #3,6,7,8,10 fueled by adding wood to the
fire #4,5,9 and by the weak kidneys #9 which are exhausted
in trying to combat all that fire.

Steven thanks for playing the e mo shun ul game and your excellent response. What you said sounds accurate to me.

You said, “You could be having anger coming from the lungs, or you could be having it come from the kidneys, etc.”. So my question is what will cause the origination or what would determine having anger from the lungs? Something metal/lungs like sad thoughts that then trigger anger and then that anger may be stored in the lungs?

    Hello Steven

Like it when you say that emotions from a organ can be different, from the model!
As always you have good things to learn me 🙂

    >>>You said, “You could be having anger coming from the
    >>>lungs, or you could be having it come from the kidneys,
    >>>etc.”. So my question is what will cause the origination
    >>>or what would determine having anger from the lungs?
    >>>Something metal/lungs like sad thoughts that then trigger
    >>>anger and then that anger may be stored in the lungs?

    Yes and no.

Secondary reactionary emotions are often caused by
the creation cycle or control cycle. For instance
if the metal element gets agitated, it
can lash out and cut wood (control cycle).
Wood then responds with anger . . .

However, if you have a “misplaced” emotion like
anger occurring in the lungs, the situation is often
    more complicated.

Several different things can be at work here.

For one, it is important to know that each of the five
vital organ spirits doesn’t just occupy their respective
organs; they occupy the whole body. The organ spirit
just uses the organ as its home. Thus, just like your
apartment is “your home base and your address” where you
spend a higher proportion of your time, you are not
limited to your apartment. Your influence extends beyond that.

So for instance, the Hun (liver spirit) has the liver as
its home, but it is not the only place where its influence
can be felt. The liver is just the area where it is easiest
to contact the Hun, and its influence is most strong.

Keeping that in mind, I’ll use the “misplaced” emotion of
anger in the lungs as an example.

Anger in the Lungs (from Hun):

So, for one, if you feel anger in the lungs, it is possible
it is in fact the Hun that you are sensing; it just so
happens that you are noticing the Hun presence in your lungs.
This can happen if there is some disharmony between these
vital organ spirits, and it can be a way of letting you
know that the vital organ spirits in question are having
trouble getting along, or seeing eye to eye. For instance
in this case, it may demonstrate that the Hun is unhappy
and having a disagreement with the Po soul (lung spirit)
or something similar. Your call to attention can be one
to try to create harmony between the disagreeing parties.

Another possibility is that certain issues
in your life are revolving around lung/metal issues.
Your attention is focused on your lungs on a subtle level
due to this, but the Hun is unhappy and wants to get your
attention. So it does so in a location where you happen to have
your attention, rather than just stewing about in its home.

Anger in the Lungs (from Po):

On the other hand, another possibility is that it is *indeed*
    coming from the Po soul.

The “personality” or “nature” of the Po is one
that tends toward depression, sadness, and grief when
it feels uncomfortable–but just like people–the vital
organ spirits don’t always behave in a consistent
predictable way. Under certain conditions the vital organ
spirits can feel atypical emotions for its nature.

This latter situation can occur for instance if you have
been having a period of time where the vital organ spirit
has been unhappy but you haven’t paid attention. So it
may be the case that you’ve been sad or depressed for
quite some time. However, maybe you’ve been ignoring it,
repressing it, or been so distracted you haven’t noticed.
Then the Po soul expresses “anger”–not so much that it is
actually feeling “angry” in the true sense of the word–but
that it just really is trying to get your attention.
Then when you start paying attention, you notice just how
sad and depressed you’ve been and/or how disturbed the
    organ spirit is.

The bottom line is, is that while the five element emotional
map is a very useful tool, it is really just the beginning.

The only way to really get a good idea of what is going on
with different emotional situations, is to be very still, go
inside and create a safe open place–create a warm receptive
environment–and listen. Without casting any of your own
mental ideas, just listen and allow your vital organ spirits
to feel safe enough to have them *tell you* what is going
on with them. Then if they feel safe enough to tell you,
don’t judge and don’t advise, just listen. Rather than suggest
to them your mental ideas of what they should do to fix it, ask
them with a warm curiosity what they feel would make them
more comfortable. Then let them feel accepted for being able
to express themselves openly. Doing this opens the way for healing.

I resonate with Steven´s last part of his reply because that is how I feel it myself. Nearly always when I feel anger I notice it is a secondary reaction on another emotion ´sadness´, when listening carefully it is the sadness for not being heard, not being respected, for feeling limited in a situation that is creating the anger. Although my liver and gallbladder stored a lot of past anger which I notice in the physical reality of my body, listening more carefully and with patience it is actually the sadness in my lungs that feed that anger. So after the initial anger I know not just to focus on my liver/anger issues but I listen with care to my lungs/sadness and allow the feelings to arise there too, for that it needs a loving trustful space to show itself because it is much more vulnerable than anger is. If there is no such space and if I am not able to create that space inside myself, I stay with my anger and can not move to the initial sadness level.

I believe that when you live in an untrustful situation, be it environmental, social, in a relationship, work, family, it is the anger that shows itself to protect the sadness. ´Fight for survival´.
Taking those feelings and taking it into the organs I can notice it is also a matter of inner believe (earth), self love (heart) and inner wisdom (kidneys) …

I learned through the years of practice that it is best to listen to all five organs, not just to focus on one or two problem organs. Since they are all related, they all want attention, the strong organs need the love and appreciation for being strong and supportive, the weak organs need the love and care for being vulnerable, without being judged for the weakness and pain. All five children, strong and weak, need equal attention and unconditional love.

Steven thank you for your reply and also Wendy thank you. Both of your insights will be very helpful to me and hopefully others. Is there any tips or tricks you would like to also mention? I like using Michaels added technique of singing to my organs as a harmonizing “inner weather” technique.
