I have a question for those that have been working with the Greatest Kan and Li and beyond. In the new way the Michael teaches it you are using the polarities of the Yang of the Earth with the Yin of the Sun holding Saturn as the higher octave of Earth in the cauldron. I have heard in the past that it was the Yang of the moon and the Yin of the Sun. I have tried it both ways, and have had a bit more luck with the Yang of the Moon. In other traditions the higher octave of the Moon is the Great Goddess, and in my psyche this is better able to balance the strong inner yin of the sun than the yang of the earth. After the greater kan and li I have built the earth up to be a more neutral central channel presence with yin, yang, and central stellar/yuan.
Has anyone had any experience with this, explanation for the change in the new way he teaches it, or any pointers. I appreciate it. I am trying to get ready for this summer by moving between the kan and li’s that I have done to gain fluidity and grounding. Perhaps I will see some of you at the stellar.

You might try focusing on the temporal (time) aspect of the formula. From this perspective, time as we experience it in the solar system is our name for the process of the earth and sun vibrating at each other, singing into each other. The sun’s side of the polarity we call the future, the the earth’s side is the past. When gathering and coupling these sounds (they are the shen of the earth and sun, their sound bodies, their intelligences) in Primordial Qigong I sometimes say to myself:
Gathering the 10 million sounds of the past (from the earth)…
Gathering the 10 million sounds of the future (from the sun)…
And when I mix them I try to feel the “two” “sounds” of inner sun and moon “ringing into each other,” like two gongs. The sound “heard” from the center where my adept floats is the pure sound of the present. The creative sound of now. Yuan shen. Grounded by the sound of Saturn.
I can also add that the key, the total key, for my really getting this formula was sun gazing (staring at the sun), bringing the SOUND of the sun in through my eyes (which I try to feel as windows-NO RESISTANCE) into my core channel and DOWN to chest level where I could feel the frequencies “building” an internal presence, which I was then able to draw upon during Primordial.
Hope that helps, Brian. Good luck!

Good to hear from you Patrick!
The tonal aspect is very helpful. I drove my kidneys too hard over the past few years of residency and as I have been tuning in lately, I have noticed that my weakened kidney energy has resulted in some tinnitus. I am on a home practice retreat this week, and am doing some rebuilding/nourishing. Deep listening will become easier as my kidneys relax a bit and feel supported by the rest of the system.
I have not done much of the sun gazing because I have been working most daylight hours. My schedule is shifting now that I am finishing residency in 4 months, so I look forward to more real-time communion with the natural world!
In regards to your advice above, you seem to be connecting with Earth as the past and the sun as the future. I can see how that would work. If you have the time, try it with the moon instead of the Earth below. It has a slightly different flavor and may be just a way of cooking the Saturian issues differently.
One way that has opened it for me has been to feel the watery softening with realizing the compassion at the core of the solar being balanced by the radiant transformative love of the Great Goddess as the higher aspect of the Lunar being (the High Priestess.) Perhaps due to my Tibetan and Kabalistic training, my psyche keeps wanting to arrange it this way. It will be interesting to see if Michael has anything to chime in about why he changed the formula, and what the effects were with the previous arrangement.
When will we see you again?

Yes, I had a moment of intellectual confusion when the greater and greatest formulas collided with my map of Vedic Astrology (where the Moon is seen as the astral body, repository of the soul pattern’s past wanderings.) This confusion faded into amazement when I realized how advanced and ambitious these formulas are (and how much clearer in articulation and presentation for us, thanks to Michael.)
There are a lot of reasons I have presonally found for the use of Earth in the greatest formula, first and foremost:
1-this structure reveals and works with the true nature of time (vibrational interaction) in our solar system
2-to leave out the earth is to only work with heavenly bodies, which is boring sky god worship and not Taoist,
3-to use the moon as the symbol of that which is to be completed ignores the larger cycles of change within the evolution of the human soul. The real ambition here is not to cleanse and complete your individual soul pattern (represented by the moon.) It is to cleanse and complete EVERY POSSIBLE human soul pattern (represented by the earth.)
Thanks also for your hint about the inner moon. I think I’m going to try summoning the Moon’s inner essence from the Moon in my solar plexus, taking it up the core channel to ADD to the alchemical process unfolding in the heart center. (As I might add any new planetary body discovered, Sedna, Eris, Ceres, etc.)
I’ll see you at Heavenly Mountain this summer, of course! It is almost finalized that I’ll be working the whole summer again. I’ll also be in Stellar and H/E the last two weeks. I can feel the chi field from here! Wow!

I see where you are coming from, and it’s interesting how our psyches arrange things. For me, for some reason, I don’t see moon as separate from the Earth. Perhaps it is from a grade school science textbook drawing that I can still remember that posited that the moon came from the Earth as the Earth was rapidly spinning during its molten formation. Funny what sticks with you.
In regards to the sky god stuff. I have come to find a pattern of growth from the personal sexual golden pearl of lesser (which has a lunar aspect,) on to the Earth pearl of greater, then on to Saturn in the greatest. It is a fluid growth or maturation process up the core channel for me. There is not a sense of separation of sky god and Earthly god, but rather an interdependent process. When I practice the formulas, I move up and down between them and find the gaps in resonance or where the energy isn’t moving between the planes. I find that aspect of this system incredibly beautiful.
Of note, Michael had briefly mentioned that Saturn is the merger point between the Earth destiny and the Heavenly destiny. He also mentioned that it is like an immature light body or star that with cultivation could evolve to its full potential. When I heard that something in me clicked. A series of correspondences triggered a realization of how in the Kabalistic system the God Name for Bina (the supernal mother which corresponds with the highest octave of Saturn in their system) is used to activate and bridge the Abyss where the hidden sephiroth of Daath lies at the throat area. There are four ways to cross the abyss in their system, but all of them involve dealing with the question who the little ‘me’ is relative to the whole universe. Enoch walked with God and he was not. It is a resolution of a mirror of the macrocosm and the microcosm where the question of the individual being drops to a paradoxical level. At this point a number of traditions try to create a resonate structure that serves as a bridge point, one that resonates with the microcosm and the macrocosm. It allows for a flow between heaven and Earth.
In the Hindu tantras you find this at the level of the throat with vishuddha chakra which roughly translates as ‘purified’ It is the level of sound with the sixteen petals of the Sanskrit vowels surrounding the seed syllable ham or hum. Here is where the elements are referred to as mahatattvas or the great purified elements that have not fully differentiated into being. They still reflect a heavenly state of sorts. In the buddhist tantras they have the same arrangement and here they create the great stupa of enlightenment which is the mahatattvas arranged in a way the reflects the heavenly order in harmony with the Earthly planes. It is related to what is sometimes called the Vajra body. Curiously, vajra can mean diamond, lightening bolt, indestructible, and probably some other things. It is formed of va, j, ra, which are the seed syllables of water, union, and fire. The indestructible union of water and fire, the realization of which reveals the diamond-like nature of our true nature luminously reflecting the whole. This union often happens with a sudden lightening flash or thundering. Does any of this sound familiar?
Maybe that was interesting to some folks:) I get a little chuckle that it is vajra, not rajva. The vajrayana or buddhist tantric path seems to have some water primary emphasis in its origins as well. It doesn’t always play out like that now, but curious to note.
I’ll see you this summer. I got some nettles and foti today to help rejuvenate my worn down kidney beans. Tomorrow night a few of us are going out to practice on a crystal mountain for the lunar eclipse.
Still got that necklace from our men’s ceremony on my little altar:)

Nice to have the vibration of cyberspace holding this website raised by such a discussion….
Of course, this is such a DEEP issue, the function of inner earth, that I consider it largely unconscious even in most esoteric paths of the last ten thousand years. I am sure that even though it is publicly absent in any substantive manner from the sky god (here Hindu & Buddhist) traditions, that any high level adept who sat in a cave for some years eventually got a similar transmission and used the inner earth being to advance their sky practice.
I know I was quite shocked when I stumbled upon Tsong Khapa’s cave (in the heart of the Potala, Tibet) to find a clear and SUBSTANTIAL channel all the way to the core of the earth.
I did the sun-moon polarity for years, but knew intuitively there was some level of grounding missing. Only a hint from my Atlantean teacher about the esoteric suppression of earth consciousness – he allegedly spent 2300 years in a physical body – got me looking elsewhere, i.e. closer to home. Then it took a few more years of experimentation and inner plane guidance to map out a workable practice that, when I introduced it into One Cloud’s formulas, made them sing at a much fuller and higher octave. For me, its the difference between embodied and disembodied meditation – they are both blissful and wonderful, but as different as day and night.
If you want to understand suffering, and generate true compassion for the collective level of suffering that actually transmutes it, then for me there is really only one master, and that is the Inner Earth being (and its surrounding court of dragons and foundational beings that generated the prototype of a human being. This is the inner sanctum of lemurian sacred science. The only reason so much suffering is tolerated on the surface of the earth is because of the amazing resilience and compassion of the Inner Earth being (which is of course androgynous, even though we call her outer body our mother).
It is from this perspective that when you go deeper into the psyche of the sun, that you find Inner Earth is central to its purpose and function in a way that no other planet is. In my experience, if you meditate only upon the emptiness inside other celestial beings or even in space itself (ala dzogchen), you will likely miss what is vibrating uniquely from the open heart inner space of planet Earth. The redemptive power of humanity I believe arises from human ability to manifest that heart.
I think what you are looking for Brian, is not to be found in the moon. The Moon is the daughter of the Earth, for humans its visble concretization of yin-yang cycles, but not its higher evolution. I suspect that what you are seeking can be found in the other missing piece that I recently added iinto the formulas, as the “Advanced Lesser Kan and Li: Second Refining of the Golden Elixir”. This is the bridge of inner sun and inner moon as they relate to inner male and inner female within humans, and grounds it like nothing else i’ve come across. This is cosmic sex in its most tangible form.
If you want to advance your other practices, and prepare more deeply for Star and H/E, that is what i recommend you study – the Advanced lesser. It is now in the Product Catalog on the website, eventually will have its own page.

Thanks for the input Michael. Perhaps from my previous training I had found a very strong fire within the moon, and in my psyche had oriented the moon as being the partially separated feminine and subconscious of the Earth. Delving into the depths of this yin and subconscious I was finding the fire of transformation able to balance the yin of the sun. I tried a mix where I absorbed the moon back into the Earth as to bring the subconscious into present consciousness (into this moment or body instead of being dissociated into the sub levels or space.) A large part of my problem is likely how I have related to the moon as being the deeper feminine aspect of the Earth.
When I go into the depths inside of the moon, I do find a very strong yang presence. It seems like this should be integrated on some level. Perhaps this is what you are using in the advanced lesser. It just seems like there is a bit of a gap between the lesser and greater. You had mentioned noting a gap between these levels before and that this was part of what motivated you to receive the advanced lesser formula. I’ll have to give it a go and see if that makes the bridge. A large part of my practice has been moving between the formulas to develop integration through the planes/levels of the central channel, so I’ve been noticing something not quite clicking there.
I’ll let you know how it progresses.

I know we’re discussed and meditated on this comfounded planetary coupling for 7 months now but…
We’re riding a Star here called Earth. Tapp into the Dark Star Yang and ride the wave on this Radiant Dark Star Mothership on thru the Purple Flowering Essence of the Sun. Then on thru the heart of Saturn. The Planets Ring. The Angel Sing. The Sage is Wise. Do you hear me Brother. 🙂April 18, 2008 at 2:51 am #27570
Correlation here with astrology principles of planets – relationship to Earth. For me Pluto corresponds with the deep core of Earth. Energy is a gateway – yang fire gate to deep yin. Opposite is Neptune – yin receptive gate to Yang stellar Heaven. Uranus is energy body. Saturn is the form builder and tester – and as taught here, a higher earth. Moon is embodiment on the earth but Pluto is deep core.
