I would like to share my experience with grounding, specifically embracing the tree posture. I used to do standing meditation by the instructions of Lam Kam Chuen, because I could easily find the instructional videos on youtube. Having trouble finding a proper Iron Shirt course nearby in this period (I live in Macedonia) I went on to get Chia – Winn book of Iron Shirt I. I don’t have time for everything of learning IS1 by myself so I went directly to basic posture and embracing the tree. That was the story and here is my experience:
Doing Zhang Zhuang by the instructions of Lam Kam for one month I had some benefit and that was being more grounded in ways that I am more present with people, less forgetful of where I would put objects etc… However doing the tree and maybe some other postures was more of my own pushing and understanding that I need it, rather then the reward of the training itself.
This was not the case with doing the posture Healing Tao style. In IS1 book there are lot details on the how to do it, and adding few of those details changed everything. First, I do 15 minutes easily, where before I could barely do 10 min. Not just easily but somehow I don’t want to stop. I feel some kind of fullness first, then relaxation and if I manage to clear my mind (the exercise its helping in emptying the mind) then I think actual rooting happens. I feel like sinking in my body, but in a good way. Its making me clearer and more confident. I feel intimate connection with mother earth and as if my feet are drawn and glued to the floor. Also energized. My feet are not just breathing but I feel a strong flow. I have that qigong feeling where I can’t wait for the next practice.
It is very unique experience compared to sitting meditation and energy work that I have done before. It was a missing peace in my spiritual work for sure. I think standing meditations are very rare practice outside qigong and I would recommend these to everyone who wants to get deeper in spirituality.July 6, 2016 at 3:47 pm #46841July 6, 2016 at 9:07 pm #46843
