I have Qigong Fundamentals I and II… I have just started with 5 Animals and 6 Sounds… I understand that you are not supposed to go on until you “own” this practice.
Now, my questions:
1 – should inner smile be done before learning 5 Animals?
2 – should inner smile be done before learning microcosmic orbit
3 – The inner smile audio products – http://healingdao.com/cgi-bin/prod_list.pl?pauthor=Michael%20Winn
have me confused. There are appear to be 60, 80, and 90 minute versions of the practice. I want to get a CD to practice along with, which should I get?

The Inner Smile is the Foundation practice if going through the practice’s in order; you can do anywhere… anytime…anyplace thats the ultimate goal. You want to be able to connect either in a formal practice setting or an informal setting such as out and about during your day.
You can do before “5 animals do 6 healing sounds” and wrap up with an orbit practice. Or you can do them individually it’s flexible-flexibility will be key in learning the formulas and different sets.
Any of the audio are equally good, all probaly unique within themselves…eventually you want to get the the formula in your own awareness and “live” at the spontaneous moment the formulas are a unique language transmission at the deepest level.
Enjoy your journey..SL

It is important to–if not learn first–learn among your
first practices. The Inner Smile can make the 5 Animals
and 6 Healing Sounds practice much deeper. There’s no hard
and fast rule, but I’d recommend learning it before the
microcosmic orbit, as the Inner Smile is about embracing
unity, whereas in the microcosmic orbit you explore polarity–which
involves another dynamic.A shorter version of the Inner Smile should be found on the audio CDs
that came with the QF1 audio package.I have the 80 minute audio CD called “Way of the Inner Smile”.
It’s a very nice practice; I recommend it. It is a more
comprehensive version than the shorter Inner Smile that is on
the QF1 audio CDs.Although there is no reason why one version is necessarily better
than another. Sometimes you want to just do a short run-through,
and sometimes you want a more extensive dedicated practice . . .
and as others have said, you want to eventually be able to incorporate
into your daily life and be able to practice it whenever in the moment
in addition to a separate dedicated practice.Best,
