I have a question to all of you.
When Mr Chia did write his books about this esoteric yoga methods, secret methods only for a few choosen ones, many taoists get chocked beacause they didn’t believe the ordinary man was able to handle such a powerful methods. If some of you have followed the discussion about “cruel methods by white tigresses” its obvious that this practises can be used for different kind of purposes also evil ones. So my question is. Is there any maybe not so obvious reasons to why this exercises have been hidden and from time to time forbidden for the people of China. Are there risks for examples to get an inflatet ego by this methods and to use them for evil or in other ways dangerous purposes? Or to put it another easier way are we matured enough to handle this powers and I mean the ordinary man?February 15, 2006 at 1:44 am #10607
ahh i guess you are getting just how powerful some of these practices are. I know there has been debate about teaching extremely powerful practices like Kan & Li or even Healing Love. Where do you draw the line? I think that trusting the higher good has won out. If everyone focused on hiding practices because of possible harm, then that very act is increasing the possibility of that someone would seek out some knowledge to do harm. Pretty much a universal law isn’t it?
I’ve most often heard the Chinese when using the term “evil” refering to stuck, stagnant, or excess rising Qi. I’m not sure they have a concept of evil as westerners do. I think this type of knowledge and other spiritual practices remained hidden in China only because no one wanted to share what might give them an edge in the struggle for survival. They still don’t want to share but it got flushed out and a few have been willing to not only share but build on the knowledge and practices. The only difference i see in someone’s ability to perform these practices is what level someone is willing to acknowledge their own reality and participate in that reality in a “aware” state so to speak.
As pointed out, women have struggled a lot thru history so it seems even they might develop practices that would strengthen them. Possibly as some point in balancing out the male / female disparity they went over the edge, drawing more than their due. They might have even liked drawing more than their share for a while. Their ability does not have anything to do with their level of “ordinary” but rather the amount of time and consciousness they are willing to devote to their own development with these practices. The book that you refer to is not a complete picture of the hidden White Tiger lineage. It was written by a taoist scholar based on an interview with a practitioner. It is an incomplete picture at best. Maybe good reading, that is what sells books.
The ability to do harm with these practices comes first with the ability to harm yourself. That’s why you better work thru the issues of the day and pay attention to yourself, grounding, presence, structure, process, acknowledgment. I think that by the time most people develop the ability to do anything “evil” to someone else they will have enough going internally that they have no desire to do such a thing.
Actually there is no better time to connect with yourself and learn a life practice that may have been hidden for a millennium. The support is here. The knowledge, tested and proven effective, what more do you want? It’s all up to you and your willingness to fully experience your own reality.
