It is very nice to read the quotes about the ultimate Tao.
But it would be very nice to read about your personal lives. How do you manage life, how is your relationship, how is the relationship with your parents, children and relatives, do you have a nice fulfulling job… Just to say that using nice quotes is not the same as living it.I live by three rules, if you like to have rules in your life, these are mine: Openness, courage and honesty. Apply them on yourself.
It is pretty easy to ask another person to be honest with you yet at the same time you are blind for your own mistakes. But as well we walk a path, so we make mistakes, are blind, hurt, cheat, lie consciously and unconsciously. So I use the three rules as my personal guides.
And by making many mistakes, being blind so often, hurting others, through conflicts and anger these three virtues grew stronger and stronger.
The more I applied them the better I started to feel beyond the masks, started to see the beauty of a person.May 1, 2005 at 3:45 pm #5270mbanuParticipantHow do you manage life, how is your relationship, how is the relationship with your parents, children and relatives, do you have a nice fulfulling job…
I’m a depressed drunk, no close relationships, parents fed up with my lack of success at life, relatives patronizing and vaguely disappointed. No children. Used to have a 3rd shift job monitoring automation systems all night. Quit for a bit to try school. Got arrested for a burglary I didn’t commit. Am failing out of school so I may go back to 3rd shifts again. Wasn’t quite what I expected anyway. 🙂 So in answer to your question, poorly, terrible, and not at all. But then if that wasn’t the case, why would I be a Daoist? When the Dao is present in the universe the horses haul manure; when there’s no underlying problem in need of correcting, who goes looking for solutions? Only fools. 🙂 The Dao can cause suffering as well as salvation.

I always find that the Daodejing has this annoying habit of being absolute gibberish until I come to the conclusions it was trying to hint at on my own; then it makes perfect sense. I’m sure it’s phrased that way for safety purposes. 🙂
The more I applied them the better I started to feel beyond the masks, started to see the beauty of a person.
A mark of a master. 🙂 The five colors blind the eyes. It makes it difficult for some people to follow in your footsteps, sadly. But fortunately, the vast majority of people don’t need to. 🙂 Higher level Daoist practices are like stronger prescription drugs; the only reason you’d need them is because you were that much more fucked up than the other guy. 🙂
If Plato hasn’t completely gone under while working through his shit, you should talk to him. He’s weird about women, but you guys might be able to learn from eachother.

May 1, 2005 at 8:17 pm #5274spyrelxParticipantLove that quote mbanu. Don’t even know what it means, but I love it.
By the way, I obviously know next to nothing about you, but if you’re really in the funk you appear to be, here’s a “from the hip” suggestion.
Walk away from this shit for a while — taoism, message boards, internet communities, etc. It’s spring in most parts of the world. Get out in the sunshine with some real people. Get some exercise. Talk to some new people. Drink a bit less.
Just a thought (and behind it nothing but good wishes).

Kan & Li is single cultivation. Of course, as Michael has mentioned, it is possible to sit on a subway train and look at a woman and some part of each of you is wired for the other and and your bodies spontaneously go into into a Kan & Li phenom incorporating each others’ energy. In that sense Kan & Li can please a woman so I don’t want to come off as an ignorant person, however this is rare and I believe the discussion was geared toward the mundane.

You are definitely one brilliant dude.
I think most of us virtual taoists have the same basic challenge that you do–we are wickedly smart, but our minds short circuit when we don’t spend enough time outdoors in the elements.
Even megamasters like Osho and Trungpa weren’t able to keep it together sort of comes with the territory.

Shouldn’t you be in a mud hut in a swamp on Dagoba?
Now that would keep you in touch with the elements for sure.
Just spent 5 days with an accumulated total of 1 hour on the computer. Boy are my eyes happy.
I sit in my cave doing my thing every day. Don’t even get the “benefit” of jumping in a car to do the commute thing, which would count as being outside, sort of.
But I can’t complain, working from home is very nice.
Also wanted to give you my appreciation for you ongoing contributions.
More Respect and gratitude is my rule for the day.

May 6, 2005 at 6:02 am #5288JernejParticipantI reach 30 years in the past.
And 4 years in the future. Beyond that it is pure magic.
Have the best job position. However don’t see past that time. It is academic. People say they like what I say. But generaly run away after half hour debate so I work alone. No sexual relationship with woman.
To high price.
Great vision.
But one week to start living. Three months to be back to normal.
So now in sexual presence.
Not living a life very conducive to female presence.
Still there are. And truth of melting is sometimes emberassing to societal relationships.Just cast away my dog. He was my totem. He lived with my parents. Becoming weaker. And true longliver.
It was startling to meet dog in my dream that would seek my presence.
It broke my cauldron so that water started orgasming and needed recycling.
I recapitulated our relationship that fornoon. He wanted to serve me. I didnot have any task for him.
So I recognized me casting him back to source. And recognized dateline.
It was that day.
It was at the same time my father ordered him killed in the morning and cremated before noon. I was informed of that later. There was no ‘charge’ left at that time.I love my parents.
My mother has strong loving energy. Weak bones. Not strong spirit (picture study). Had best spirit before my birth time.
Father still has good spirit. But not so energy. And leaks ching.
I can’t just make them new younger without depleting me. So I just do my cultivation.
Brother sometimes stinks. He is involved in biology research. Now stinks less as has new girlfriend.
Though we live in same apartment are not close. For I tear apart such presence. But since we are bond by blood I just let him be in time and just ward him off. It is temporaly. He will move with his girlfriend in year to another region, as things are now.
Gave him Lin’s secrets of plain lady. Oviously leaks. -
