    The freedom

Only when you sail against the stream
You can understand the price of free opinion.
    Links join to long chains
Line of life becomes a dot.

Lines and days, stitch by stitch
They are hemming your dossier with heart and ardour.
Here’s, behind the bars colonel is the boss.
My freedom is the radio receiver.

I am free like a bird in the sky.
I am free, I’ve forgot what fear means.

To be different is to be always alone.
You can choose between poverty and prison.
Nobody gets the freedom for free.
Freedom has no exits and entry.

Soda is for making tea more black.
Got it? Then pour yourself a cup.
I’m participating in some jail marathon.
Lucky, I have radio in the tape recorder.

I am free like a bird in the sky.
I am free, I’ve forgot what fear means.

Tea, cigarettes, answers to the questions.
    Interrogations, then more interrogations.
My radio is one way communications.
Dash and dots is an arabic ligatures.

I cannot say, but I can hear.
I’ve saw as a rat transforms to a mouse.
Something, what can’t be wiped, no matter how hard you try,
My freedom is inside of me.

I am free like a bird in the sky.
I am free, I’ve forgot what fear means.

My freedom is inside of me.

    I care about both actually.
But if you forced me to pick, NO I don’t agree with you.

What you and I do (namely Theoretical Math and Theoretical Physics respectively), is ultimately of little consequence or importance. It is purely the acquisition of curious facts and knowledge. In your case, the results of research may be applied to create new technological toys or weapons, which is hardly meaningful on deep level.

NO. Human rights are more important.
The ability of people to live their lives without the
government stepping in and saying that you can’t even express an opinion
far outweighs the ability of scientists to do research, sorry.

Ultimately what you and I do, from a mature perspective, is ultimately meaningless.

“When pursuing knowledge, something new is acquired each day.
But when pursuing the way of the Tao, something is subtracted;”
–Tao Te Ching, Chapter 48, Part I

If you can not live heart-centered and have love for all beings,
then ultimately you do not have much. This is the most important
thing, and needs to addressed before all others.

    >>>I have noticed that many who think that they are liberal
    >>>are not at all. Look for example this forum. Some of the
    >>>key person don’t like at all monks and nuns but for some
    >>>of the real ones (monks & nuns) it is the most natural
    >>>and purest way of living. I mentioned this only as an example.
    >>>So I’m very sorry.

I don’t know anybody saying on this forum that they don’t like monks or nuns.
Unless this is some sort of backhanded jab at my prior post about Perelman,
which was about his dysfunctional behavior not about the choice of
    a particular lifestyle . . .

But regardless of who you are referring to, if someone on this forum
didn’t like monks or nuns (which I can’t imagine would be the case),
then that would be their opinion. People are allowed to have opinions.
That is the whole point of liberty . . . the ability to express
opinions freely and to be able to have unrestricted choice to do so.
This means no limitations by governmental authority to have an
opinion, express an opinion, or live in a certain way (provided
you are not injuring others in so doing).

I personally do not believe that people should use drugs (illegal in US)
I personally do not believe that people should have abortions (legal in US).

Yet if someone wants to do one of those things, I think that
they should have the right to be able to do so.

In my state (as in almost all states), you are breaking the law
if you drive a car without wearing a seat belt. While I think
personally that only an idiot would drive a car without one,
and I personally do wear one (and consequently follow the law),
I believe that people should have the CHOICE to not wear one if
    that is their choice!

    THIS IS LIBERTY.

It is not about having a particular set of opinions.
It is about the promotion of free CHOICE in your life without
    unnecessary governmental interference.

Just imagine that you had a contact with extraterrestial alliens fron UFO, Steven. I’m sure that your favorite government will never allow you to speak a word about this contact with anybody else in the world. Your liberty thus is only a fiction while you do not know something really interesting.

    I agree.
There is much to correct and fix in the US government also.
I do not hold US exempt from this.

The statue of LIBERTY is a symbol; one that many
even in our own country have forgotten. Especially
as despicable laws like the “Patriot Act” etc. used
to combat “terrorism” are put into place.

“They who can give up essential liberty to obtain
a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGBT_rights_in_the_United_States
Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender rights in the United States have evolved over time and vary on a state-by-state basis. Sexual acts between persons of the same sex have been legal nationwide in the U.S. since 2003, pursuant to the U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Lawrence v. Texas.

Family, marriage, and anti-discrimination laws vary by state. Six states plus Washington, D.C. currently offer marriage to same-sex couples.[1] Maryland does not offer same-sex marriages but does recognize same-sex marriages performed elsewhere. Additionally, some states offer civil unions or other types of recognition which offer some of the legal benefits and protections of marriage.

Twenty-one states plus Washington, D.C. outlaw discrimination based on sexual orientation, and sixteen states plus Washington, D.C. outlaw discrimination based on gender identity or expression.[2] Hate crimes based on sexual orientation or gender identity are also punishable by federal law under the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2009.

Adoption policies in regards to gay and lesbian parents also vary greatly from state to state. Some allow adoption by same-sex couples, while others ban all “unmarried couples” from adoption.

First off, the rights of everyone is important, but
the issue here is not the rights of the LGBT.

The person arrested wasn’t LGBT. He was married,
and was arrested for having an opinion that was
    seen in public.

    The issue is liberty.

This is likely my last post in this thread, because
I’ve explained this several times already and
I grow tired of explaining the obvious to the two of you.

I think situation was not difficult to understand, but this is just not very important as a question.

There are some type of outlaw behaviour which I personally can admire, but one shouldn’t be too naive. One must be able to calculate possible outcomes of one’s actions.

By the way some of these ladyboys or shemales are quite gorgeous aren’t they?

I’m very sorry, because this don’t have anything to do with qigong or yoga.

I would argue that liberty is at the very core of Daoism.

Arbitrary governmental regulations are artificial man-made ideas
that do not reflect THE WAY THINGS ARE, tries to force
a storyline that does not match reality, and contains subtle
    judgments against WHAT IS.

Coming into harmony with the way things are IS what it is about.

Astrobiology makes use of physics, chemistry, astronomy, biology, molecular biology, ecology, planetary science, geography, and geology to investigate the possibility of life on other worlds and help recognize biospheres that might be different from the biosphere on Earth. Astrobiology concerns itself with interpretation of existing scientific data; given more detailed and reliable data from other parts of the universe, the roots of astrobiology itself—physics, chemistry and biology—may have their theoretical bases challenged. Although speculation is entertained to give context, astrobiology concerns itself primarily with hypotheses that fit firmly into existing scientific theories.

Yes but how about astrobiology? Isn’t that something important?

SO actually only thing one needs to take care is to have as much time to practice.

Wu wei (Chinese: 無爲; a variant and derivatives: traditional Chinese: 無為; simplified Chinese: 无为; pinyin: wú wéi; Japanese: 無為; Korean: 무위; Vietnamese: Vô vi) is an important concept of Taoism (Daoism), that involves knowing when to act and when not to act. Another perspective to this is that “Wu Wei” means natural action – as planets revolve around the sun, they “do” this revolving, but without “doing” it; or as trees grow, they “do”, but without “doing”. Thus knowing when (and how) to act is not knowledge in the sense that one would think “now” is the right time to do “this”, but rather just doing it, doing the natural thing.

I have simple question based on this Tao Te Ching citation.

How Taoist these various Taoist systems of energy formulas are if one is practicing them as they are normally taught?

If above would be true then doing nothing is the real Taoist path.

    >>>SO actually only thing one needs to take care

    Sounds fine to me.

    The only issue is:
    What constitutes practice?
And what are you practicing for?
    What is the purpose?

I would maintain that, whatever you do, it is
to help you live your life more in harmony
with what actually *is*, rather than preconceived ideas
of how you think things *should be*, and to
use that to be able to love yourself and others
    more deeply and authentically.
