    Hello,
Last night I was thinking about the different things I could have done in my childhood (I am about to graduate college, so I was sort of reflecting/fantasizing), and I had desires to kind of try it again or something like that, or be reborn and try again (although that was more of a fleeting thing). Root feelings of this were probably anxiety and regret, but that’s not what I’m talking about here. I then accepted that I can now move forward and create more, because in a limited childhood you can’t really do all the cool things you would later look back on and wish you had. But I accepted that I can be centered and move on to a next phase in my life.
Then I had an experience in my lower dan tein where there were all these layers of pearls and in the center was a place before I was born. I then realized that from there I could look into past lives. When I say past life I mean that of my spirit, not of my blood line. My most recent past life quickly came to the forefront, in my lower dan tien, it emerged as a pearl. I could see what I looked like and I could feel the virtues I crystalized and the non-virtues too. It seemed appropriate to try to integrate this because then I can process the things that would need to usually processed later in this life quicker because I already have the virtue from past life then a) not need to do certain things again, and b) attract certain things quicker to work with. This was easy to do, and kind of happened automatically.
But is that really what I’m supposed to be doing. Should I try to integrate the past lives in this way? What about the things that I have already healed in this life that appear to not be healed in my past lives? It seems counterproductive and redundant to bring those up again, like devolution.
The story continues. I could then see the life before that, it was dark. I kind of automatically/haphazardly tried to integrate it. I tried to undo this by attempting to return it (not in a complete rejecting was, just like, trying to return it to where it was) to the place it came from. This did not really work and instead the pearl expanded. I continued to explore, I could then go through many numerous past lives very quickly in this way, feeling their virtues. I was then able to easily return them all to the source (not necessarily “The Source”, but where they were coming from in this experience), except for the most recent two.
Last night I had nightmares for the first time in a really long time and I felt I was under attack of some sort, and could barely say a Buddhist chant to make it stop. I attributed this to some of the darkness from the second most recent lifetime.
Does anyone have any advice on how I can return the second most recent one to it’s source, or how I should integrate these or *not* integrate them? What intentions can I use, any advice? How should I explore or integrate or not integrate the other past lives?
    Thank you,
    Ryan

I also wanted to ask if it is necessary to try to integrate them, or if they should just be looked at as it sounds people talk about more often?
    Thanks,
    Ryan

    Hello,
Today many of the lives started to integrate automatically. It got to a point that it seems I’m not supposed to go beyond right now with this method. Integration makes the most sense because then I can use those virtues in my life.
    Thank you,
    Ryan

Seems to me that it doesn’t matter so much as to who you were BEFORE
as opposed to who you are TODAY. With or without Daoist
cultivation, you have evolved from who you used to be
(say in previous lives), so let them go (*my opinion*)

Example: Say that (hypothetical example, not necessarily
*your past*) you saw that you were a murderer in a
previous life, but you currently are in a place where
you are far from that reality. Instead of feeling the
need to integrate in those characteristics from the
murderer life and/or become traumatized by it, I would
instead try to embody a feeling of tremendous joy and
happiness . . . not for the murdering, but for the fact
that you have evolved *so much* in an upward direction
since then, that it is cause for joy.

Since previous lives would be a reflection of who you *were*
and not who you *are*, I would say that a much more beneficial
action than integration would be of “completely letting go of it”.
Then, as such, allow yourself to live today with complete freedom
    unencumbered by any past entanglements.

    Best to you,
    Steven

    Hello

Interesting experience you have axtryan. I have not gone true anything similar as your experience.

I wonder if you have read something similar to your experience, can you find any similarities from the litterature. I also wonder if you know someone who have gone true something similar. Are there anything close to your experience written in the universal tao litterature?

I myself tend to a somewhat different solution regarding intergration. I make a parallell to the work in Jungian therapy, where you from complexes also will meet archetyps from the collective unconsiousness. Perhaps you can treat the past lifes experiences and psycical forces and energies in a similar way as you treat those collective patterns in a Jungian therapy. What is that then? Well that will give you a much more complicated pattern and situation regarding if you should or should not assimilate or intergrate yourself with those past lifes. The thing is that in Jungian theraphy you have to decide from case to case if you should intergrate with a archetype or if you shouln´t. That is one of the most difficult decissions in a Jungian theraphy. Somethimes you realy should intergrate and you should benefit alot from it, beacase the archetype might contain parts of yourself that is realy of greate importance to your life and that if not intergrated, will make you feel bad and also will afect you from the uncounsiousness in a rather unmatured way, so that you will be doing strange things in your life that you not have any controll ower. On the other side some of the archetypes are so strong and so litle you, that you should harm yourself if you tried to intergrate them, they should rather stay as autonous as possible.

Of course during the work with thoose things you will get ideas true dreams and visions whether or not it is good to continue the process, but it might still be difficult to decide.

I think it is the same thing with past lifes, they shorly are connected to you true your spirit or perhaps shen also, and they might have a big inpact on your life, and you might not have evolved so much since that earlier life, perhaps you will not evolve so much if you not intergrate some of them to your present life. Perhaps such an integration realy afects your life to the better and perhaps it also affects the past life to the better, to go true issues that not went solved in that past life.

Actually I have not read much about past lifes, more than listening to some Buddists and reading some Buddists books in the past. But my feeling is that Stevens approach to let thoose past life be, is the wrong answer to you, or to others for that matter. I think you have to find your own judgement from experience to experience with your past lifes and learn what to intergrate and what to let be, in a so wise way you can possible do. That is if you want to develope something from these experiences. Perhaps you already have the answers from within and know what is right for you to do with the different past lifes you experience.

The past life you had some problem with might be the one that is the most important to investigate, but also the hardest to assimilate. So to go back there from time to time and in a soft way learn to deal with that life, is what from my point of wiev seems to be the right thing to do, but as I told you I have actually no own experiences of this, so perhaps I´m totally wrong here.

That’s fine. It doesn’t bother me that you disagree with it. 😉
That’s what makes life interesting ^_^

But I still maintain any past life should be let go of.

If I drive to Asheville to go to a workshop, once I am
there, it is hardly relevant which highways I took to get there.
Living completely in the present gives you more freedom
based on who you are NOW.

After all, there’s a reason why it’s called the PAST.

Sorry to say that I am not so shore about my own ideas, so I can´t realy continue arguruing about that you have wrong. Still feel more for my own ideas than your though.

But actually I am not into this subject and haven´t jet in my life being so wery interested in it. Perhaps I will be more interested in it in the future.
