Michael,
I was wondering if it would be a good idea for a beginner who is naturally very sensitive to energy to attend a retreat or do you think that the chi may be too powerful and catalyze something that is not harmonious? What I mean is, would the energy be to much for a beginner at the retreat center due to such a powerful chi field?

Since you’ve never been to one of these retreats. It’s important to take a retreat suitable to your level of practice.
that’s why some retreats have pre-reqs.But general answer to your question is: a powerful chi field is NOT dangerous to a beginner because it is balanced. You will draw from it what you need to achieve a higiher level of balance. And the teacher of that retreat will be there to monitor your response to the practices and help you stay centered. If you are centered and grounded, you can jump spontaneously to a higher level of vibration in that group chi field you are practicing in.
A good course for you might be my Fundamentals 1-4 retreat in late June.
I have many students who have taken this by home study dvd/audio, or taken my weekend versions in Asheville, who told me it was a totally new and different and more powerful experience at Dao Mtn, even though the same exact practices were taught. Why was it different? Extended period of concentrated practice, supportive company of the group, powerful chi field. And if I sense a group is willing to go deeper, I guide the group focus deeper. Fundamentals means fundamental, not really limited to beginners. It goes much deeper, yet remains safe for a total beginner. If you are open, you will leave dao mtn as an advanced beginner, the stage I am always seeking to stay in.
I encourage folks to study the material before they attend (and offer 50% rebate on purchased home study course) so you can focus on absorbing deeper currents of chi flow rather than absorbing the newness of the practice.
hope this helps.
chi,

The chi you will meet at retreat will have flesh and bone and heart and stories to tell you of their own history with spiritual practice that can relieve inner resistance without you doing a darn thing but being there, baba

Bring some ear plugs along so that you will not be disturbed by orgasmic moaning sounds of women and squeaking beds from next room during your retreat meditation as reported by Max in an earlier post.
It is suppose to be an immortal tao silent retreat but the chi field is sometime overwhelming !!! Just tune in to the cauldron and you will be right.
Hahahaha and hope this helps
ARRGGGHHHHH!!!!!!
Peace out!!

It's not a big deal if you are willing to wait 2 minutes. That Chia and Michael's sexual cutivation book is a real success as far as I can see.
April 29, 2005 at 10:28 pm #5162esotericwarriorParticipantCould anybody here who has previously been on a retreat tell me if they noticed a significant boost in energy?I have been working on clearing a blockage for some time now with little success and I am hoping the fundamentals retreat could boost me enough to help.

Extra energy may help the blockage, but in my case when I get too focused on having energy pulse thru me, that just usually aggravates blockages, makes them even more conscious and perhaps even more agitating. 🙂 If that’s your concern, I’d spend extra time focusing on the five animals and the healing sounds and moving that energy out.
