I’m thinking of taking Jerry Alan Johnson’s Master of Medical Qigong program for certification. I was hoping to get some feedback from you about the program. I was basically a medical assistant in the military and have done approximately 2 1/2 yrs. of TCM so I’m familiar with and enjoy working as a healthcare professional. I’m just wondering if he and the program is everything they’re advertised to be and how compatible it would be with your program. I am really excited about the material I received from you and am thoroughly enjoying the experience of actually getting tangible results so quickly from qigong training. That’s why I want to make sure that the medical qigong program will expand my knowledge and ability, not take away from it. Thanks so much for everything! PeaceAugust 1, 2005 at 1:34 pm #6717
I am not Michael Winn but I do have an opinion on Jerry Johnson’s Medical Qigong text. The text is incredibly accurate, delivers all of the information up front. I know one of the people who took his course and have been fortunate to do some healing work with this person on a cancer patient. He taught me very good grounding techniques and I saw and recognized things that I have not been able to have confirmed before. He is probably the first energetically proficient person who read me like a book and knew exactly what I was saying and why. He helped my healing process along also. I will never forget those few days. Too bad that the person is too far away from where I live. That expereince was like a treasure. I lost a lot of people that year but that treasure held me. If I had only had this experience about 7 years ago and if only I could’ve trained in this way, my how so many things would be different. And you know I had wanted to go and see people like this 7 years ago and my so called Taiji master said “Fine Go!, Go and deal with THOSE people!!” so of course me and my stupidity didn’t go to see Kenneth Sancier or to meet any of the well known energy practitioners. And my “master” covered his ass didn’t he, because when you look at what he said he never did say “don’t go”. He just implied it. This is another trick the Taoists have, well maybe it is just the Chinese. They imply things – this way if things don’t work out there is no karma held against them. Tricky. so if you ever want anything or are asking anything from people as such make sure they say exactly what you want for an answer. Look at it clearly, maybe even get them to write it down. I will never, never, never trust another person who will not be explicit and upfront in their answers, their expectations, their statements. Hey, I’ll listen, I’ll smile, but I will as quickly turn and walk away and under my breathe, know what I say (Fu_k You!) Just a little heads up in the workings of the energy crowd. Some people are just so awesome, some appear awesome at first and are not and others are just plain creeps. Get to the point where you can feel that and you will do quite well in taking care of yourself.
Along with anything qigong or energy course you take you should always have an open mind and you must look after yourself and cleanse energetically — Jerry’s text/course tells you how to do all of that.
I have noticed and I think this is a big part of any energy healing whether it is something you want to enter into for yourself or to heal others — you must be willing to clean your own attic. This is very important. You must be willing to do that on each level that you attain. I have seen some great healers who end up getting ill themselves, despite their energetically cleansing routines. Because I believe they have not dealt with their own issues first. One should put aside time for yourself also to develop inside, clean up your hangups, your illusions in you as you go along. If you don’t they will come back full in your face and you will be forced to clean them up and sometimes those ways are not so gentle. Better to do it yourself, with your intention up front.
As you practise the qigong, any energetic process actually, including kundalini process you create higher vibration in your body. Your physical body is required to adapt as is also your emotional, mind and spirit. Sometimes this takes a little bit of time however with the correct exercises this process can be shortened greatly. And if you can find a good teacher, well that also helps greatly. (I haven’t found one yet .. and Jerry is way too $$$$$$$$$$ and too far away for me).
A good way to get things straightened out with yourself is to ask your higher self, just like having a conversation with your more together being, just ask for guidance in a clear concise manner that you can readily understand, with love, with compassion, with understanding, grace, wisdom and gentleness. In this manner the higher self can deliver what is required for your lower self to develop in a way that is conducive to life here on earth. I was connected to some energy way back in my initial training, some guide I guess that decided it was needed for me to hack away at all my illusions and, I had the hardest time in all of this. I cried for hours, made decisions by myself that were so darn difficult, I trained for hours and hours to try to balance and I never had a teacher that could say to me … hey, relax, send the energy from universe thru the crown of your head, thru your body and straight thru to your feet and into the earth. Let the earth and universe help you cleanse and balance and ground. Nope … had none of that. I used to stand outside in the middle of a field and cry with my heart …. I was just so unbalanced and the spirit side was so very strong. And be damned if I didn’t open up a few channels that way, but it was not by intention of by my knowledge here on earth. It was my higher self and/or a guide that took it upon them to help me open that way. Damn, I wouldn’t advise that way for anyone. Since I have been incorporating a sort of prayer for guidance with what I have listed beforeheand (compassion, wisdom, love, etc.) it has taken the edge of my “learnings”.
One thing to remember in all of this energy work … you have control and don’t let anyone tell you … you don’t. YOu want to stop anything. Just say in your mind … stop it … and mean it and ask them to help you stop it and it is done. If you want to slow down your process you can. Same thing.
But anyways, to keep yourself healthy is #1 key. Physical, mental, emotional, spiritually, grounded …. everything. this is what Qigong is truly about and in your process you can affect all else and balance globally also. You can help others balance but you do have to clean up your own kitchen first or you will be frying up some pretty wierd shit later on down the road. Seen it happen too many times.
And the guys here on this forum can be very helpful. And Michael Winn definately so.
I do agree, you need to balance everything. LIFE. The more qigong you do, the more you must balance. Pull yourself back to here on earth. For if you are not grounded here what good are you to anyone here on this plane. That is another key. Do whatever comes natural to you to ground. Qigong exercises yes, but also things like, as they have said here, nature walks, gardening, pets, family, even things like weightlifting or running or whatever. Just something that keeps you here in the now, then you can bring your spirit more to this place, bring your higher self more to this place, bring them here to aid you and others. It is not only an intention, it will also affect you chemically. Your body changes, things happen. Certain photos, like kirilian can show you your process. The spirit can be seen thru the palm. The connection to it. YOur fingertips will give off nice clear firm circles of energy when you think of different things. This will show you if you are weak in one area or have an area that needs work (mine was the physical). The circles here were not so strong and clear.
There are other ways to see. It is up to you to find the right ones that work for you.
The person I worked with that is a Master of Jerry’s course also does breathe work he trained in from someone else. So be open for adding your own flavour to things.
Me …. I am just a floater. I am just what you would call a receiver and transmitter. Doesn’t much matter what I do as long as I am here. And that is sometimes the hardest reason for being that there is. And in your process you may or may not find this the way. If it is then you must work on yourself to be comfortable with the void. I still am not. I eat way too much to compensate. I can do bigu, have done a fast on lemonade for 40 days. But you know, other than getting rid of a few toxins, it is friggin boring. Did the fast expecting to have this great epiphany afterwards. Know what the epiphany was …. my body is a little bit more healthier so I will be here for receiver/transmitter longer. To be able to live with that is difficult… so that is when it is necessary to surround yourself with nature, friends, family, work, physical things, to ground you. Reaching understanding is not always friggin easy. And when you do … well … so what! You are still here till you die so you may as well do something physical here on this plane that enables life for others and yourself to be a lttle gentler and kinder.
I guess just some examples and scenarios that one encounters on the journey and it isn’t easy. Just be willing to face your illusions, be willing to see the truth and of course you must be willing to live with that truth or change it. Up to you … there is no magik! for that, no matter what anyone says, you have to do the work, it is always up to you. If anyone offers you life understanding in 3 months with no work for you tell them to stick it up their ass. They are not the true way. Lots of energy vampires out there looking for weak minded people to hand them their energy so they can travel farther, control more and power up more. Your first concern should always be to look out for yourself, to be well centered (in all things), to be strong willed, to be strong minded, to be grounded, to have compassion, wisdom, love, grace, gentleness and understanding. It is only in this state that you can truly help others. And when you are strong in this way, the vampires cannot touch you. Those vampires are usually people who have travelled the energetic path and failed to clean up their own back yards and one of their illusions, and/or one of their hangups/weaknesses has come to the surface and distorted their intention. Perhaps their original intention was quite balanced but they did not do the work required to keep them that way. Sometimes greed gets in the way, or power over others and or the seeking of the “holy grail” (immortality). It may be of good practise for one to write down their basic morals and ethics at this beginning time and go back to those every so often to make sure you are within those in your processing. Kind of a check list to make sure one travels well.
Of course one always make mistakes, of course one learns by errors, of course the road is not always line in gold …. but it will help.
And you know at least there are more people out there who you can touch base with and ask and they will answer. When I did all of this my teacher told me I must be doing drugs, that I maybe drank too much and wouldn’t acknowledge any of my powers or seeings. He was Chinese and didn’t help me much in my way at all, not that was required. He wouldn’t talk to me, except to reprimand me in that I wasn’t grounded enough but he sure as heck had no exercises that grounded me, such as energy to center of earth. Nothing! Of course if he did that he couldn’t “persuade” me could he. Control issues there. All brainwashing techniques, by quite the master of it all. Anyways I don’t even drink wine, haven’t touched any alcohol for over 7 years. Never drank much, did a spankling of teen drugs when I was a teen about 30 years ago. So go figure. Just keep your mind open, always good to ask questions, always good to be aware. And don’t believe everything ANYONE tells you. Good to have faith, but have faith in the creator and you. Trust in the creator and you.
Most everything else in this plane is tainted with ego, fear and illusion. Still has so much beauty though, and a lot of great and good things but just to be aware is all.
My whole life has been that of losing innocence. When I was 4 years old I lost my childhood innocence … gone … then growing up again I lost the innocence of just being a teenager … too much pain. Then when I found something I loved, the energy work and martial arts/taiji … well, that innocence was again taken away. I trusted the wrong people, opened my heart to the wrong people, spoke to the wrong people …. lots and lots of lessons and pain. And I would never in any lifetime recommend that as a way of learning, not ever. But I have a strong “me”. And I can honestly say that thru each spear in the heart I have never altered my list of morals and ethics.
And I am just too friggin older to put up with much bullshit anymore. Which in one way is kind of sad, because you know, I kind of miss that desire to please sometimes. That passion to work your happiness to the utmost. When you are in a void, there is no need. And then there is the work to come back to find a bit of that need and that is almost as hard as losing the innocence. Trying to find a piece of it when it has all been blasted away so that you can find purpose again. That is another key. Purpose is required to live in this plane. And so many times in qigong purpose is not required to meditate. But if we do not have purpose it is so difficult to live on this plane. One must surround themselves with purpose. Create it if need be. I have had to do that. Bills, friends, pets, relationships, work. It is required. Otherwise I would just go and live under the bridge. For me .. nothing is required. Transmitter/receiver. Doesn’t matter. But for human psyche it is required. And that is an understanding that must be accepted. For me anyways, maybe not for all. Find things that make you happy to balance.
Difficult when you have felt creator’s energy holding you. that is another thing to avoid. Energy junkies. That is all they do, energy exercises and meditation. Gather energy to feel good. Fries their mentality, get kind of screwed up to live here on this plane. Kind of like airheads I guess.
Anyways, kind of got away on this one, but just to let you know and Dragonbones know … it is not all easy. Hope maybe in reading some of this it can help some others somehow. And Michael Winn seems to be quite knowledgeable in his exercises, etc. to help a lot of people. I definately am not.
Jerry Johnson is pretty good also. But tremendously expensive. Too much so. But oh well, people will not find it of value if the $$ is too low. Kind of a stupid earth belief.

Good confirmations for me. I can definitely relate. Thanks for being so open and honest. Very kind.August 1, 2005 at 11:24 pm #6721
I recently got that book by Jerry and I plan to read it and maybe get the dvds before deciding to go to him in person and perhaps get certified. Other teachers offering certificaiton are Roger Jahnke (caly) and Jampa Mckenzie Stewart (texas). (these two wrote fowards to Johnson’s book)
Rainbowbear, can you please elaborate on this Kirlian? Where to get a machine? I seen the different therapies at Tao Garden (thinknig of learning them to incorperate in my own practice…?)August 2, 2005 at 4:14 am #6723
I do not know of any place to buy the machines. They are not that big really, maybe the size of 8″ x 11″ give or take. You put your hand in under the wrap, the operator presses the button to take a picture, before they snap that picture they ask you to think of something that makes you happy, they snap that picture, then they ask you to think of something sad, etc. etc. I have a kirilian of my finger prints with 5 different “emotions” or thought patterns. They keep snapping the same photo on one sheet as you have different thought patterns, energetic shifts so that they show up on one sheet. It is incredibly interesting. I keep my photo posted around my house just to remind me that there is more than what we initially see in all things. I think that anyplace that deals in tarots, aura readings, egyptian pyramids … all of that kind of thing should have the machine or at least know where to obtain one. The lady who read me also did dowsing with a metal rod. That is also very interesting and she was extremely good at it. Quite fun. We met her at a “Health Expo” in the city where I live. I am very sure there should be someone like her around your area. Sorry that I cannot be more helpful. If you are very interested I can see about getting her name and contact number for you.
The kirilian photography was discovered many years ago, I am sure you have heard of the initial research. I am not very good at dates nor names but of course I the doctor’s name was Kirilian and he discovered that after you cut a half a leaf of a plant away, when you took the photography with his camera the photo still showed the energetic other half of the leaf that was physically cut away. Other than this initial knowledge I do not know exactly how it works, the process and all of that. Very much fun and can be quite useful I think in a broad sense anyways.
This lady charged $15 for a Kirilian reading. Not too bad.
Good luck with anyone taking Jerry’s course. I think that Bernard Shannon is spearheading his school now. Not sure on how much Jerry is actually involved anymore – he calls it semi-retired. I have spoken with Jerry on the phone but have not personally met him. He is very approachable and very much a “strong basic person” – factual I think. And I was impressed that he returned my phone call even though it was long distance. If I could I would take his course. Oh well, maybe next life knowledge will be more complete.
