Hello,
wanted to ask from people
who have been to retreats,
does anyone know of a reliable
service that will drive there
from charlotte, been trying
all weather w/o success yet,
but will keep trying.also, how do you use the pay
phones w/o coins?thanks for any info,
AdelJune 5, 2010 at 12:15 pm #34440StevenModeratorHi Adel,
As for a *normal* shuttle, I don’t think there is one that runs year-round.
However, usually the retreat program hires someone special to do a shuttle
specifically for the purpose of getting people to and from the retreats.
When the shuttle driver is already full or booked already, Tynne (retreats
registrar) or *I* will fill in that role in a pinch. To my knowledge,
no one has ever been stranded. In the meantime, you should get in contact
with the retreats registrar (Tynne) and get on a list of people needing
rides from Charlotte airport. Which retreat week are you coming in?For telephone calls, if you don’t have a cell phone (Verizon is best for
connectivity issues), then purchasing a cheap calling card is your best
bet (you can pick up these up relatively cheaply at a lot of convenience
stores). There is usually a non pay phone somewhere that can make local
calls, and you would use that and dial in the number on the calling card
to use the minutes on it and dial long distance.Best,

I arrive for the fund 1-4 a day early 6/17
(thurs) at 8:30pm in charlotte, so I had called
the all weather guys to see if i could hire
them to drive me. i have only gotten their
answering machine so far. I will give Tynne
a call to be added to her list. Will pick up a phone card.
many thanks,
AdelJune 5, 2010 at 9:48 pm #34444StevenModeratorYeah, All Weather Taxi is one of the shuttle services
we had an arrangement with in the past.
Some people have had success getting rides
scheduled already. However, they can be difficult
getting a hold of, as I heard that Tony (the main guy)
may not be working right this moment. You can
nonetheless keep trying anyway just in case. Maybe
you can get something arranged. At any rate, you should still get in touch with Tynne,
and apprise her of the fact that you are looking for
a ride, so that at worst you don’t fall through the cracks.Tynne has recently relocated early for the retreats
to Heavenly Mountain, but she is temporarily in an
area that typically can be prone to poor cell reception,
and the retreats landline has not yet been activated.
If you can’t reach her by phone, contact her by email.
She checks her email daily at a minimum.Best,
