my guess is that all you can use as a practicing daoist are the principles of the path with the heart. nothing more. daoism has it all and in better package, more upgrades, no strings attached.

I think I would be one of the last ones to anyway to promote Castaneda’s teachings, but I must admit that I as well have been reading his books once through (as a teenager).
So in his other book there is more practical verson of practicing one’s memory.
It’s in “The Second Ring of Power.”
That exercise in question is nothing else that old game played by children and Boy Scouts called Kim’s Game. It’s practical use is evident for those who have put it into use.
Also interesting is the origin of the name: so it comes from that old novel by Rudyard Kipling in which this Kim is trained to become some kind of spy. So there is clear connection to what in Castaneda’s books is called the Art of Stalking and all this petty tyrant thing.
That H.O.G.

-U.S. Navy SEALs (their motto)The future is uncertain and the end is always near.
-Jim Morrison, The DoorsThis particular little message was originally part of that thread which dealed with that message what ‘user244075’ had received from those Tensegrity castanedians. So the webmaster have transported it for some reason.
What I wanted to express as my opinion is that Castaneda is about the way of the warrior and for that one doesn’t need any NEW AGE teacher but army with aim. In Castanedas direction there isn’t for very long time any sealing of the five senses (important in many Sino-Indo-Tibetan yoga lineages) etc.
In the link below there is example of real warriors with aim (or so it seems to me at least though not being American). They are example of those who need to play that KIMS (keep-in-memory-system) game. It’s easy to check from for example ‘SEAL Sniper Training program’ by U.S. Navy -manual, book easily available from Amazon. When one’s job is for example to execute/terminate unlawful pirates, one must be exceptionally alert to both directions (outside versus inside) beside being very skilled in many arts (and maybe also in some sciences).
Never fight fair.
