November 23, 2004 at 5:30 pm #2034esotericwarriorParticipantWhen I say teach I don’t mean an entire complete system or anything like that but you sure as hell could teach the basics which is really the key anyway right? As for the shing yi, thats very interesting, sounds like you found a traditional real master sifu (which is exactly what I am looking for)The internal arts are what first brought me into this “game” and now that I am playing I NEVER wanna stop.Problem is I am having trouble finding a genuine master with real knowledge, thats why I asked about your sifu, no disrespect intended.By the way, do you belong to the forum or visit over at emptyflower.com ?

Honestly, no, not at this point.
It brings up all sorts of ?’s that i’m not entirely clear on (and i’m only posing these rhetorically, not really to start a conversation): What are the basics? What attributes, alignment, level of accomplishment makes someone competent to teach? I mean, in one sense, any one that helps in any way, “thank God!” From another point of view, only senior teachers aligned with an enlightened lineage, and Enlightened Teachers within an enlightened lineage, should be teaching. I don’t feel really clear nor comfortable, confident, about any of those questions (and that bugs me, so here i am) and, really, don’t feel personally comfortable – at all – that i am ready to teach.
All for now. I’m gonna check out for a week or so, gotta focus on stuff at home.
Enjoyed the thread, thanks for the hang, good talkin’.

I suddenly understood the deadly aspects of the Fab 4 practice. These guys know how to get fajing out of every sinew and bone of the humble foot, for instance. They might as well be made out of pure gunpowder.

November 24, 2004 at 3:16 am #2046TrunkParticipantI’m being over-estimated again. While xingyi does produce… power, i’ve had to go v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y in my xingyi studies, cause my body ‘s been so jammed up by illness and whatnot. And power doesn’t mean mean; my teacher is one of the funniest nicest most forgiving guys that i’ve ever met. The kind of heaven-body-earth integration that is available through that art is impressive though. And it does have to be taught in person, repeatedly, over a long period of time.

Sounds like you’re having fun, and making some progress. That’s all good. And, a lot has been sorted out over the last couple of decades; clearer knowledge is more available than before. My feeling is that we are on the cusp of getting really clear on a lot, that has been a long time coming.
And, enlightened teachers (of various traditions, and in non-sectarian expressions) are more available than ever before.
It’s a good time to be entering the foray.
cheers!,
TrunkOk, now i’m really outta here for a few days. 😉
