    Question for anyone –

When my practice is going well sometimes my saliva suddenly turns sweet, which I always take as a good sign. Apart from the suspicion that it has something to do with the kidneys, though, I really have no idea what causes this. Does anyone know?

mine goes a little sweet, but not much. it’s more the amount that is generated that i notice.

i learned a very powerful practice a few weeks ago and evertime i do it, a lot of saliva is generated.

im going to ask my master on wednesday night about it, but , like you said NN, i too feel that it’s a good sign from the kidneys.

last week, we were told by our master that, growing up in china, his mother would hit him on the head if he spat as a child, ’cause his parents knew that if you spit too much, you are effectively spitting out your jing.

I also never felt much sweetness in my salive (just here and there), only increased ammount.
I think that in yoga it`s said that it`s the nectar that starts flowing down from the brain/higher energy centers. Also, it`s usually related to khechari mudra.

    Nnonnth,

This is addressed in “Taoist Secrets of Love; Cultivating Male Sexual Energy”. Sorry I couldn’t find the exact page for you. If you have the book look it over.

This has happened to me many times, mostly in the Spring.

    Regards,

    Matt

    Nnonnth,

No problem, I will tell you what I recall about it. I just couldn’t remember exactly and didn’t want to give you misinformation.

It says something about when enough sexual energy gets into the brain – pituitary gland, this happens.

It is definitely a pleasant experience and pretty common on the path! so enjoy!

    Regards,

    Matt

    I think I have this book…somewhere!

This is from the back cover of Mantak Chia’s book titled “Golden Elixir Chi Kung” – you may have already picked some of this info up somewhere…

“Techniques for preparing and using the Golden Elixir to achieve optimum health and spiritual vitality

•Includes practical exercises and postures to produce regenerative effects in one’s own saliva

•Reveals how combining saliva with the hormonal fluids released during sexual practices creates the Elixir of Immortality

Golden Elixir is the fountain or water of life. It is the combination of saliva, hormonal fluids, and external essences that when mixed together become the Elixir of Immortality. Saliva has long been considered by Taoists as a key component for optimum health. Some Taoist texts recommend swallowing the saliva up to 1,000 times a day to promote physical healing. Thousands of years ago Taoists became aware of changes in the taste and consistency of saliva that accompanied meditative practices. They learned that by combining saliva with the hormonal fluids and essences released during sexual activities a powerful elixir is formed. Taoists believe that this Golden Elixir is not only a physical healing agent, but also is a major transformative agent in preparing for higher spiritual work.

Golden Elixir Chi Kung contains twelve postures that develop and utilize the healing power of saliva. Ten of these involve gathering energy and forces through the body’s hair, which acts as a negative-energy filter and can also be used to store surplus positive energy. Taoists regard the hair as antennae extending out into nature and the universe. By utilizing the practices in this book, readers can develop self-healing abilities and establish a better connection to the universe as a whole.

A student of several Taoist masters, Mantak Chia founded the Healing Tao System in North America in 1979 and developed it worldwide as European Tao Yoga and Universal Healing Tao. He has taught and certified tens of thousands of students and instructors from all over the world and tours the United States annually, giving workshops and lectures. He is the director of the Tao Garden Health Spa and Resort training center in northern Thailand and the author of twenty-five books, including the bestselling The Multi-Orgasmic Man.”

I have some spontaneous “sweet saliva” experiences and I know it is good but other than buy the book (which I haven’t even read), I don’t know much else about it…

I mentioned it to my master last night. he didn’t really discuss why it happens, he just nodded in approval.

he strongly emphasised that when it comes, TO SWALLOW IT 3 TIMES.
