I think this is a confusing and very vital–and also scary–point for many people. To speak of it briefly as ‘the ordinary souls dissolve’ and leave it at that is too little or too much (better to leave it out if one isn’t going to clarify it).
It contradicts (on the surface) people’s common experience of communicating with fully volitional loved ones who have passed on, the experience of lucid dreamers/astral projectors encountering the dead, etc. I mean, I know there is greater lore behind this statement, but the casual or even fairly experienced person reading it will not see that.
Thanks for the FAQ. Actually–it just occured to me that links (footnotes) could be added to the 9 points…

You are right Simon, this area needs to be clarified and is a real problem in the teachings.
I agree. I too would like to see this clarified. It sems to be one of the few areas that is undefined and where there’s confusion.
And its part of the essence of the teaching and major reason for alchemy
