    Is this a normal thing?

Everytime I do retention, a few days later the testicles feel like they are ‘full’ and gets slightly painful (like a cramp feeling). How can that be remedied?

In the past, what I did was start ejaculating, but I am trying to find another way.

Here’s a simple way to massage the testicles, one at a time.
The idea is to take a testicle in between the thumb and fingertips of one hand, and rhythmically squeeze it gently at approx the rate of your heart-beat (approx 1-2 squeezes / second). No need to get exact about tempo, approx is fine. Best to stabilize the testicle with the other hand.

As far as pressure, you want to squeeze so that you feel the pressure goes to the center of the testicle, but not so hard as to cause pain.

After you do it a little while, you might feel a pulsing in your testicles. Stop then, mission accomplished. Even if no pulsing, only need to do this no longer than 30 seconds.

This should relieve the cramping, and is healthy in general.

Also helpful is massaging the ducts and epidydimus, methods found in the Bone Marrow Nei Kung book.

Can someone tell me a good way to transmute the jing into Chi?

I tried the powerlock it doesn;t work.

Also another question, can stress cause the energy to get stuck in the testicles? Sometimes when I am stressed and overexert myself with will power, even without sexual activities or thought, can feel it uses up jing? Or sometimes semen can be seen at the tip of the penis (sticky substance).

Whats the best way to open up the channels to circulate the jing/chi?

    also,

if i do retention, after about 5 days my energy gets better and stronger, but after a few days later will feel tired and energy low, seems like need to ejaculate to renew the energy.
And when ejaculated, it is very thick and whitish, sometimes it is so thick that it doesnt flow.

I need a way to cycle the energy better without ejaculating./

Learning reterntion takes time, unfortuently, the information is not free right now, it seems that one must open all their channels with knowledge of the taoist formulas for enlightenment/immortality…time.

“Best way” is to study consistently in person with enlightened teacher.

Biggest keys are central channel and spine.

    Some info at Alchemical Taoism.com.

I have not begun the semen retention practices as I have not reached that level of qigong yet. So I don’t claim to know the answers in realtion to that.
However I did experience daily pain and aches in the testicles (specifically in the epididymis), for about 10 months a while back. It was usually subsequent to, and at times coincided with prostate/perineum pain and burning.
The prostate pain was due to damp heat and stagnation. THey kind of exist together.
Trunk has great suggestions for opening those channels on alchemical taoism.

The testicle pain was LIVER QI STAGNATION. It was related to the damp heat and pain in the perineum, but also had a more subtle facet.

THe liver meridian passes through the tesicles/epididymis and if there is stagnation of its’ qi , it can slow down in that area in particular. The sensations can vary from heavy full aches to flaring pain.

It was my experience that the more frustrated or stressed I was with being in so much pain, the worse the pain would be. The stress causing the liver qi to remain stuck = a viscious circle. (the liver being affected by stress, frustration anger)
A very helpful Chinese person said “don’t have mind press. must keep light mood”
A combination of herbs and qigong have done wonders.

The nei jing states “the liver rules flowing and spreading” ………it moves the qi and the blood………

Hope it gets better, I know how it feels.

    Mat,

Yes from your description, I do sometimes feel liver stagnation.
WHat are the ways (herbs or any useful qigong exercise) to move the energy?

I guess there must be a way rather than ejaculating to clear the liver stagnation?

If you can find a competant herbalist, they will be able to help. lizhihe AKA semen litchi or lychee seed is good for moving stagnant liver qi.
But as with most chinese herbs, concentration, combination and duration of dosage is very specific for each individual. So if you can, it willl help to see a good herbalist.

I found that simple taichi qigong with synchronised breath and body movements opens the meridians nicely. Taichi18.com has a really easy form.

On the alchemical taoism site, there are many good excercises of stretching and qigong which emphasise opening and flowing. I don’t know which are best, have a good look through the site, it’s fantastic.
Dr Lins stuff is pretty good too (the link is provided at alchemical taoism)

I found that ejaculation only gave a sense of clearing the stagnation, mainly due to the relaxed feeling following release. But, it didn’t move the qi, so the pain would often come back soon after.
